iTunes showing no result found if searching for tracks from application - iphone

I'm opening the the itunes using this link on iPhone
http://ax.phobos.apple.com.edgesuite.net/WebObjects/MZSearch.woa/wa/search?term=
But while the link redirect to iTunes, It do not provide search result and showing 'No result' error.
While the same link is working on mac. If I search for some track on browser, it opens the iTunes store and showing search result. Same thing is not happening with iPhone.
Note: The link is working with iOS version 7.x but not on 8.x. Is this related to iOS issues or Itunes Issues. Not sure.
Please suggest.

Default screenshots in App Store iPhone/iPad

I've got an app in App Store for a while.
Recently I've noticed that by default iPad preview images are displayed when I visit App Store with browser.
I would like to make the default to be the iPhone look, because first of all my app is an "iPhone app".
Is there a configuration in Xcode project or App Store Connect were I can set/force iPhone to be the default ?
Web link of App Store Connect.

The screenshot of the problem
P.S. I've been rubbing my butt against this issue already half a day, cannot find any solution.
Has anybody communicated on this with App Store customer support ?
After lengthy discussions with App Store Connect support, finally the problem is resolved
The “Designed for …” badge appears automatically
for iPhone and iPad apps that are made available for Apple silicon Macs.
With that option iPad screenshots will be displayed automatically when navigating to products URL with web-browser.
If you have selected “App Silicon Mac Availability” in the Pricing and Availability section of App Store Connect.
Uncheck it and check the product page URL after 24 hours have passed.

iTunes Connect complains "missing localized screenshot" despite iPhone 5 screenshots being already uploaded

My project has bundled a Default-586h#2x.png because without it iTunes Connect would complain about "Invalid Binary - not optimized for iPhone 5".
Now the binary still does not appear to be accepted, with error "Missing Localized Screenshot (Australian English)"
But I have already submitted both "3.5 inch retina" and "4.0 inch retina" screenshots.
What else am I missing?
In this case, iTunes Connect isn't quite good at explaining the error.
The error is caused by missing iPad screenshot.
When you submit an application profile, iTunes Connect does not tell you that iPad screenshot is mandatory. However, if you continue to upload the application archive, iTunes Connect will come back and tell you there is a "missing screenshot".
I am assuming you have no intention of supporting iPAD in your app. So go to your Xcode app's App Summary tab and select "devices = iPhone". Re-archive and upload your binary again and it will work.
Login to itunesconnect, select your app and choose "Choose Another Language" drop down select Australian English and make sure there are at least one screenshot each for iphone 4 and iphone 5
I had the same problem and it wouldn't work even when I put in screenshots that were the right size.
Turns out it worked with PNG files and not JPEG files. Once I saved my screenshots as .png they were accepted and worked great.

iTunes app link cannot open page in safari in simulator and also iDevices

I hope this may be duplicate question. But none of the answers didn't hard help me. I am trying to open a link from my iOS application. When I press the button, It opens the safari app and it always says an alert "Safari cannot open the page because the address is invalid". Here it is a link looks like the same https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/app_name/id(appId) .
I don't think it is a good place to post the exact the app link. So the above link is dummy link exactly look like mine. Why the error always happening when I try to open the link. I tried in simulator and also in iPod. Same error occurs. If I try the same link with Safari in MAC OS then it works.
Here it is a code I am using to open the safari from my app with a link.
[[UIApplication sharedApplication] openURL:[NSURL URLWithString:#"https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/app_name/id(appId)"]];
I am from India. The above link contains gb. Is that link can only open from Great Britain??
UPDATE:
I have good working network. And I tried one more thing. I opened my safari app in simulator and search my app in google and clicking that link shows the same error. Is that a problem with that link in apple side itself??
Kjuly's answer is 90% correct (and +1 to Kjuly!).
If you look at the at the Appirater code,
and in the .m file that has the function that opens up the app store (it's the "rateApp:" method) I see this bit of code:
+ (void)rateApp {
#if TARGET_IPHONE_SIMULATOR
NSLog(#"APPIRATER NOTE: iTunes App Store is not supported on the iOS simulator. Unable to open App Store page.");
#else
So no matter what you try, you are not going to be able to open the App Store app within the simulator. The App Store app does not exist in the simulator, so that's why you get a "not found" error when your web view attempts to redirect to it. This should work fine on the actual device that has the App Store app installed.
Take a try with this URL:
http://itunes.apple.com/app/<appId>
Note: Replace <appId> with your desire App's ID, e.g. id543028543.
That is a possibility as you are specifying the region to which the app belongs or is hosted on the app store under. Try loading the the url without the region 'gb'.
I was having same problem. Links in email not opening, links to App Store not working and App Store not searching or loading apps. I called Appke support. A reset worked! Go to settings to find how the reset under general. It doesn't delete anything either.

Anyone else having problems installing iPhone Enterprise apps on released IOS 5?

Anyone having problems deploying Enterprise apps on iPhone/iPads running the released version of iOS 5 using the OTA ("over the air") methodology?
During the installation process, we get the alert box: "the app could not be installed at this time". Tapping the Retry button does nothing. In some cases, repeated tapping of the Retry button eventually results in a gray, empty launch icon being left on the home screen. No app installed. No other errors.
Anyone else seeing this or have a resolution?
The below description is a bit involved, but please bear with me as it may help others who run into the situation. I will post the resolution if get a resolution from Apple. So far, no joy there.
Our app refuses to install OTA on iOS 5. This same app WILL install on iPhone/iPad devices running iOS 4.x.x AND the same app will install on iOS 5 devices physically connected to a desktop machine using the iTunes app.
The Apple Developer forums under the IOS 5 Beta category complained about the problem but no indication of resolution as of last week just before the official release of iOS 5.
Cookies are set to be accepted.
Bowser cache and history cleared.
Using mobile safari originally installed with original iOS version 4.x.x.
System hardware and operating system configuration
iPad 2, iPhone 4 or any iPhone device running iOS 5 RELEASED version.
Browser and version
Mobile safari that is installed with iOS 4 on ipad2. Don't know if mobile safari upgrades with ios 5 upgrade.
Using a corporate wifi network. Yes, we are behind a firewall and use a proxy server. Since iOS4 devices install without problems, I don't think installation being blocked by the proxy or firewall.
Enterprise app built with Xcode 4 and ios5 sdk provided with it. Built to be backward compatible with iOS 4.0.
Distribution provisioning profile is correct as we have been using it for several weeks.
This app installs properly on iOS 4 devices both over the air and via iTunes application method.
This app installs properly on ios5 devices through the physical connection with iTunes application on the Mac desktop.
Steps to reproduce:
User types in the URL in mobile safari on iPhone/iPad running ios5.
The resulting webpage shows the download app link.
User taps on the link and is asked if they want to install the app.
User taps the yes, install button.
App proceeds to install.
A gray launch icon shows up on the home screen with the progress bar empty at the bottom of the icon.
Message below the icon indicates "loading".
Seconds later, user gets the "cannot download app at this time" error message as seen in screen shot attached.
Tapping the retry button results in the same action just described.
Tapping done results in the download stopping.
If you tap retry several times, user sometimes is left with the gray empty launch icon, which will not launch and cannot be deleted.
Note: In the apple developer forums, under the iOS 5 beta category, people are describing the exact same problem with no resolution.
Had the same problem, and was able to resolve it. However, the error noted is not specific to a single cause that handles every case... some detailed investigation needs to occur.
Your best bet is to connect the device to your Mac, and using the Organizer of xCode view the console logs while you are attempting to do a wireless deployment. There will be some useful information available -- please post the logs.
For my case -- the icon files were missing from the build, as a result of moving from xCode3 to xCode4 and also, the distribution plist was referencing an image that returned a 404. Both were logged in the console, but not very clearly.
Also, as a sanity check, manually verify the URL to your IPA file also.
I had this same problem and was sure everything was correct in my project; but restarting Xcode and doing a clean revealed my Enterprise scheme had somehow defaulted to the wrong provisioning profile.
Re-selecting the correct profile and re-archiving the app fixed the issue for me, I'm able to install an enterprise app on both iOS4 and 5.
I wanted to chime in after fighting this for a few hours. It is iOS 5 specific.
We had an htaccess password protection on the directory. Removing this allowed the app to finally download. So if you have htaccess, perhaps you can point the user to a parent directory that is password protected, then navigate to the subdirectory containing the app that isn't password protected. This is a temporary solution, apple needs to fix this.
Another thing to consider is the URL you specified in your over-the-air Application.plist file. I received the same error message ("-application- could not be installed at this time") because the URL I specified was too unspecific. Rather than writing "directory/directory/application.ipa", I had written "directory/directory/". You must include your application in the complete URL of the plist file's configuration.
If you didn't do this, don't fret! You don't have to rebuild the entire thing from step one, you can open your .plist file in any standard text editor and simply change the URL.
We had the same thing.
Our mistake was to point to a wrong 512.png icon in the manifest.
Which was no problem on iOS4 but turned out to stop iOS5 into a "...at this time" alert.
Wanted to chime in on my experience.
In my case, we were changing the address where the IPA file was hosted. Although I updated the PLIST file with the proper URL to the IPA file, iOS was still going after the old URL almost as if it cached the PLIST data. Creating a copy of the PLIST file and renaming it resolved the issue (data within the file remained unchanged)
I met the same problem today. The app can be installed in ios4, but failed in ios5 with "** could not be installed at this time" alert.
According to patricksan's suggestion, I download iPhone Configuration Utility 3.5 for Mac OS X, and try to catch the log while install the app through OTA.
The log helped me finally, one sentence of the log says entitlement 'get-task-allow' has value not permitted by a provisioning profile. It remind me that if the code signing identity in build settings of Project and Targets are correct, after checking them in Xcode, I found the code signing identity are not correct one, they should be iPhone distribution:.... other than iPhone developer:..... After correcting them, and re-Archiving the ipa file, it can be installed in iOS 5 now.
Check your Info.plist for Required device capabilities property. I recommend to delete completely this property if you haven't any restrictions on use.

Can't find my iPhone app in search results

The app status is Ready for Sale and there is a working direct link to it in iTunes. However the search either with keywords or by the app name from the iTunes top left corner does not bring any result. It is listed in website when I manually browse to category.
The search however bring result on iPhone device App Store app. Just curious why my app is not found through the website search.
It may take a while until the app shows up in the search. How long ago did you receive the "Ready for Sale" notification?
Mostly the app is visible in the iTunes App Store (on the PC, NOT on the iPhone) before on the iPhone. If it takes longer than 24 hours, I would consider contacting Apple but before you have an answer from them your app will probably be Live so... Just be patient, it can take some hours... But again, check iTunes on your Mac/PC if you can find your app there, in my case it was always like that, first iTunes then App Store..
Good luck with your app!
