I am familar with MVVM. Actually been doing most of my learning in SL4. However, with a recent need, I have to use SL3. I am attempting to use MVVM Light v3 with SL3 and utilize commanding. The problem is that in SL3 there is no Command attribute for buttons. I managed to find an old article (http://blog.galasoft.ch/archive/2009/09/26/using-relaycommands-in-silverlight-and-wpf.aspx), but I am having trouble figuring out the ButtonBaseExtensions.Command. It appears it is no longer available in GalaSoft.MvvmLight even though the namespace GalaSoft.MvvmLight.Command is.
So the question is how can I use MVVM Light v3 with SL3 and leverage commanding? Do I use MVVM Light v2? Can v2 and v3 coexist on the same machine?
You can use the EventToCommand behavior to still do commanding with buttons in Silverlight 3.
You need these lines of code to make the above XAML work:
xmlns:i="clr-namespace:System.Windows.Interactivity;assembly=System.Windows.Interactivity"
xmlns:cmd="clr-namespace:GalaSoft.MvvmLight.Command;assembly=GalaSoft.MvvmLight.Extras.WP7"

I am newbie in Xamarin; I know there must be ready components for what I need, already I searched but not yet found.
I need to create a dynamic graphic like this:
http://www.highcharts.com/demo/dynamic-update
I wore this in PhoneGap (html5 + JS), but now I'm moving to Xamarin forms and would like to know if any third component is what I need or I'll have to do everything from scratch.
Thank you.
I'm currently looking into graphing too and OxyPlots seems to be a pretty good line graph tool. I don't think it supports dynamic updating so you'd have to program it to update manually when new data points come available.
I've not gotten round to actually using this myself but I thought I'd post this here in case it works for you.
Edit: Here's a list of examples. Also you can add it to your project using nuget so it should be easy to set up.
I'm using Syncfusion controls for Xamarin.Forms and I'm satisfied with it. They also have a free license for individual developers and small businesses.
For dynamically updated Xamarin charts SciChart offers an extremely high performance solution. With the SciChart Xamarin Chart control you can draw up to a million points, zoom, pan and scroll big datasets interactively.

In my project, I want to embed Google Earth inside one of the User controls. I have seen many example in web where people say how to do it using winforms. I have seen few more sample who actually integrate it in WPF but using WindowsFormsHost/HwndHost I am eliminating this to avoid the airspace problem.
What exactly in my mind is something like to have a rendering Engine class and have an image in the control and use back buffering to draw data from rendering Engine class on the Image.
Has any one integrated Google Earth without using WindowsFormsHost/HwndHost? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Try using D3DImage. WPF gives a callback to fill in the back buffer. Have a look at great sample by Dr WPF on Code Project. You can find the sample here.

I am trying to automate UI interactions for a C++ MFC application. I tried to find elements' automation ID using UISpy and UIAVerify tools. I am on win2k3.
There is a tab control, the automation ID of which is visible to UISpy but not to UIAVerify.
The issue is - it is not visible even to the C# code that I write using Project White framework or ui automation framework of .net 3.0.
I want to get handle to this control the way UISpy gets it. Is there any way I can find out how UISpy does it?
Thanks!!!
UISpy is likely using Microsoft UI Automation under the covers. You can see how this works from this example*. There are all kinds of conditions on AutomationElement which you can use to locate them.
I've only worked with WPF tabs, but found it really, really hard to locate them by Automation Id. Instead I've been using the AutomationName property, with the title on the tab as the value. Not sure if White supports this, but I'm pretty sure you can get the original AutomationElement out and use it as per the example.
You'll also probably be looking for something supporting the SelectionItemPattern (there's a SelectionItemIsSupportedProperty), and you'll need to use the pattern to select the tab and make it active before you can see anything in it.
Please comment if you need any more info. It might help to know what the structure of your container with tabs in is.

I'm assigned with new task for creating chart application in iphone like.,(BarChart,PieChart,etc..,).But,i have no idea for chart application in iphone. Please anyone help me out to guide me to start chart application in iphone. If any of the frameworks or API used for this kind of chart application means please explain that also.
Give a shot to:
Core-Plot Framework
To get it working, read here.

For a little bar-chart tutorial go here.
There is also:
s7graphview less features but It's an option.
If you can rely on the web, although it's a far from optimal solution, you can embed a UIWebView in your application, and use the Google Graph Visualization API or you can use a UIWebView with an HTML5 graph library lake rgraph. Look here for a jQuery based solution. Filament Group made also this one.
At the and some sample code from Apple (Accelerometer Graph).
A commonly used Cocoa "native" charting library is core-plot. Whilst I've yet to personally use it, it seems to be quite popular and is under active development.
Here you go, but next time please use the search function first:

A popular one is core plot. http://code.google.com/p/core-plot/
My Problem is this, I want to add some component to my App I saw in some other App. Everytime I wnat to do this, I start googling around for the name. It took me some time to find the name of UIActionSheet. Now I'm looking for that transparent overlay that appears when you turn the volume up and down.
So, is there a good visual guide to the UIKit components? As an example, see the visual guide to swing components or this visual guide which is way to short/incomplete. And secondly, what's the name of the component I'm looking for?
The iOS documentation has a section called iOS UIKit UI Catalog that shows the various UI features by name with links to the API docs and recommend how and when they should be used.
Apple has provided a sample iPhone application called UICatalog. It lists all (or most?) of the standard UIKit component in different variants.
You can download the sample from here.
i recently had the same problem. Googling a lot i came across the following page. This overlay works pretty well and is easy to use.
look at: http://github.com/jdg/MBProgressHUD
Hope this is what you were looking for.
