I need to find the GUID for an existing USB device attached to my Windows XP system. How can this be done using WMI or the registry? Or, is there another avenue that I should explore? Thanks.
Additional Information:
I need to find the GUID for a specific known device; it is not expected to change. If I need to write a little program, use some tool, or look somewhere in the Windows system to find this information, it's all the same to me.
Control Panel > Device Manager > Right Click on Device > Properties > Details Tab > Change 'Property' to Driver Key > Guid will be displayed in 'value' section
For a specific known device, the easiest way I've found is to open the .inf file for that device's driver (if you have the driver); it should be clearly indicated there.
You can probably also poke around under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\USB.
DevViewer from Symantec also seems to do the trick.

After setting READ protection option byte value = CC (chip protection) I can't program the card anymore. CubeIDe and CubeProgrammer cannot find the device.
Anyone know how they can fix it thanks
You have permanently disabled debug access on this chip, it can never be restored. That is the whole point and only reason that you would ever write 0xCC.
See the appropriate page in the manual (eg: if you are using stm32f4 then it is section 3.7.3 of RM0090)
This protection level disables debug interface permanently. Your chip is bricked and you need to buy another one.
If your application requires updates you need to write your own bootloader (or the app can upgrade itself) as only the program can reprogram the FLASH in this protection mode.
I'm working with a Lenovo Thinkpad and I'm trying to set the asset tag in Powershell without using Lenovo's WinAIA.exe utility due to restrictions at work (wouldn't be able to access Windows. We would be running everything before we got into Windows Setup via Powershell), and I'm not sure how to go about this. Essentially, the property "SMBIOSAssetTag" (from the WMI class win32_SystemEnclosure) is ReadOnly, and I cannot get around this. I did triple check to make sure that Lenovo does not have its own namespace, and while using the Powershell Module "LenovoBIOS" I didn't see anything that could help me achieve this goal (unless I'm blind and totally missed it). Is there any way to go about this? I've also tried modifying the ReadOnly property of the SMBIOSAssetTag property, but I couldn't get that to work. I'd love any and all feedback. If there is any extra information needed, I'd be happy to help as well.
You don't. The property is defined as read-only in the MOF spec by design.
You're talking about writing to the SMBIOS information, which is an operation specific to your motherboard's OEM. It's up to your OEM to determine the data structure and storage method of the SMBIOS information, and the SMBIOS standard does not provide a standard write method the same way that there is a standard read method.
I'm using gemalto usb token and SafeNet software to digitally sign my documents in Adobe Acrobat Pro. While everything worked fine and nothing has changed, I'm getting this error after entering my (correct) pin number. The message says: 'Error occurred during PIN validation'. According to authentication return values, it is related to:
SCARD_F_INTERNAL_ERROR: An internal consistency check failed.
Besides that, 'Validating Signatures' option in Adobe is disabled.
Thank you!
For somebody else encountering a similar problem: The error code is by PCSC, and so not necessarily card-related.
If other applications are also unable to verify the PIN, issue might be caused by reader driver, or as in the case above by any software required for accessing the card [here: SafeNet]. Re-installing those is worth a ttry.
Same problem here.
On a new PC couldn't use this token.
I checked how windows recognized the device on a different one where worked fine. Seems like the culprit is a newer driver from microsoft.
All I had to do was to replace it. Visit here and click:
"Gemalto IDPrime - SmartCard - 10/20/2017 12:00:00 AM - 8.5.0.7 Windows 10 Creators Update and Later Servicing Drivers"
Download the cab file.
Extract it.
Next you have to "update" the driver with the old one.
I tried to install/connect Youseeu tool in sakai throught LTI. But i am not able to find any values for the following fields
1. remote URl.
2. Remote Tool Key.
3. Remote Tool Secret.
If anybody installed youseeu in sakai or any other lms, please help me out how to do that. i search lot regarding with this, but i didn't found any accurate result.
Here is the screenshot https://snag.gy/ZHGerA.jpg.
Thanks
It looks like Youseeu does use LTI (as detailed at: https://www.youseeu.com/d2l/). Typically if it will work with d2l via LTI it will work with Sakai.
However, you'll need to get the values you've highlighted from your contact at Youseeu.
The url will be where the external tool launches to (likely on youseeu's servers). The key and secret will then both encrypt and identify your connection. These values will be unique for each institution and will be generated by Youseeu.
My first question, so be gentle.. :)
I would like to get a certain PC located program to run (instead of iTunes) every time I connect my iPhone to my PC.
specifically - iTools, which is kind of a substitute for iTunes.
From my research i got that it involves adding/manipulating some registry values (something like "ServicesAutoStartOnConnect") at this location: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Windows CE Services. When i look there, under Microsoft, there is no Windows CE Services sub folder.
I'm using win7 prof. and as mentioned, the device is my iPhone4 (with iOS6.0.1 on it).
Can anybody give me some organized steps to be taken in order to accomplish this?
Not sure if you are aware of SuperUser.com. It is a site, much like this one, but caters more for the type of question you have asked here. For example, I did a search on 'iphone' + 'connect' + 'itunes' and found some possible helpers - SuperUser Search
