How to uninstall Tasktop from Eclipse - eclipse

I'm trying to uninstall Tasktop from my Eclipse IDE, but when I select it the uninstall button keeps being disabled (maybe because of some dependent plugin I can't find)
Has anyone had a similar experience? I could use some pointers on how to get this plugin uninstalled.

I had other problem with the task top plugin. I followed the conventional way to uninstall the plugin. Help -> About Eclipse -> Installed Software. The plugin was removed from the list of installed software, but still existed as a plugin, Even after resets.
As a last option I manually removed all com.tasktop.* jars and directories from the eclipse\plugin directory. That seems to do the work without any side effect damage for now.
Of course you will have to close eclipse prior to the above action.

Where are you going for the uninstall? If you go to Help -> About Eclipse -> Installed Software, you should be able to uninstall any top-level feature there. Is this not your experience?

How to remove CodeMix virus

I accidentally installed CodeMix malware when installing Anguar IDE plugin to my Eclipse4.6. Now everytime I open a JS file it shows CodeMix registration window and I am unable to open JS files if I don't provide my email account. I tried 3 times of unstalling CodeMix and then restarting Eclipse, but failed 3 times. Every time Eclipse says successfully uninstalled. However The virus/malware CodeMix is still there asking for my email account. It is a Windows10.
Question 1: How can I completely remove CodeMix?
Question 2: Is it a crime to develop something like CodeMix in US?
The best way to uninstall software installed from the Eclipse Marketplace is by using the Marketplace client itself. Simply go to Help > Eclipse Marketplace... entry, and then the Installed tab where you can click Uninstall.
Uninstalling software in Eclipse can be difficult if you try to do it from the Help > Installation Details approach as you either need to roll back all changes you've made by using a Revert to a previous point of the installation or find all plugins that you installed from the marketplace. If you miss some plugins when doing the manual approach, Eclipse won't fully remove it.
In this case, CodeMix is not actually "reinstalling" itself as your question reads like. It was just never removed by Eclipse itself.
The installation of mistakenly installed plug-ins can be undone as follows:
In Help > About Eclipse IDE hit the Installation Details button
In the Installation Details dialog, in the tab Installation History select the installation point before the mistaken installation and hit the Revert button
Please note that this does not delete files created by the plug-in itself. As far as I know, this plug-in creates a subdirectory in the user's home directory occupying a lot of disk space.
To the second question: As far as I know, not the development but the distribution can be illegal in the US, for example when spying without the user's consent or when licenses (including open source licenses) are violated.
There are about 6~7 CodeMix plugins including Angular, CodeMix Essentials and 3 more. I had to search by 'mix' and then remove everything in the search results. It is gone now.
As a work around I just went and removed everything it was trying to be the preferred editor for (CodeMix/Editors/Preferred Editors). It seems to have made it less of a problem.
I don't know if this applies to you, but in my installation Groovy Development Tools was interfering with adding and removing plugins. After removing that, I have been able to add and remove other things without difficulty.
I am using Eclipse 2020-12.
I installed CodeMix when I was looking for an editor for Go files. They definitely have an aggressive model when it comes to trying to monetize Eclipse plugins. I think it is a shame that they went so overboard on the marketing, because the product itself shows a lot of work, and I would have been willing to pay for something less intrusive.
That said, they now have a pretty good uninstaller built into the product. Just go to (in the Eclipse menu) Help > CodeMix > Uninstall CodeMix. This seems to have cleared it all out for me.

Is there some way to uninstall plugins for Eclipse Juno?

Every question dealing with uninstalling/disabling plugins for Eclipse Juno mentions an Uninstall button but I simply can't find it and Eclipse's help for Juno is sadly no help.
Has this ability been eliminated or omitted or is it in some place different for Juno?
The Uninstall... button is available from the About Eclipse dialog. From that dialog click Installation Details and it's under the Installed Software tab. This typically is only available for features, not plugins. If you can find the appropriate feature that contains the plugins you want to eliminate, that should do the trick for you.
If you are unsure of the feature containing the plugin, you can attempt to go the Installation History tab in the Installation Details window and try to Revert to a previous version of Eclipse that didn't have the plugins.
Finally, you can always manually go into your Eclipse installation folder under the plugins directory and remove them manually. This will sometimes require that you run eclipse -clean from your command line/terminal to truly get rid of the plugin. This is probably the most error prone approach as you could cause problems with features/plugins that may depend on the removed plugins.

Eclipse Plugin Installation

I want to install my pugine in eclipse without opening the eclipse. i have copied my plugin in plugin folder but by using this way i am not able to Uninstall plugin from eclise. When i am trying to uninstall plugin from "Eclipse Installation Detail" the Uninstall button is disable. i dont understand what is the proper way to install plugin without opening the eclipse. if is there any proper way then let me know.
Thanks
In latest versions of Eclipse (since Eclipse 3.4), a new provisioning mechanism appeared. You should never make any modification yourself in the Eclipse filesystem. You have to use p2 for manipulating your Eclipse installation.
Refer to the following links, for a first step in this install mechanism: http://wiki.eclipse.org/Equinox_p2_Getting_Started
To manipulate things without launching the Eclipse itself:
http://wiki.eclipse.org/Equinox_p2_director_application
If you manualy copy the plug-in in your Eclipse folder, then you are responsible for removing it. Since you didn't go through the Eclipse install mechanism, Eclipse is lacking the metadata needed to uninstall it. It basically says: "I see it is there, but I don't know how it got there, so better not remove it."

How do I stop the SVN window from opening on Eclipse startup?

As best as I know, I don't need the svn add-on, yet it keeps opening a window on eclipse startup asking for me to choose which svn I want to use. I close the window without cheking any options, and all is well. But this window is very annoying.
I think what has happened is that you have somehow installed the Subversive plugin (maybe it is included in your Eclipse distro by default somehow). The Subversive plugin requires an additional feature to be installed, and that feature is the actual SVN libraries to use. You have a choice of SVN libraries and that is what the dialog is likely asking you to install.
See here for a detailed description:
http://www.polarion.com/products/svn/subversive/download.php#svncon
You have 2 choices:
Install a subversion connector and the dialog will never come up again. This will not harm your system and one day if you choose to use SVN, you will already have the plugin configured.
Uninstall subversive. Go to: Help -> About Eclipse -> Installation Details. Scroll down to the Subversive entries. Select them all and click "Uninstall".
Uninstall the addon.
Help → Install New Software → What is already installed? → [uninstall your SVN plugin here]
Sometimes even though you uninstall subversion, there are still some plugins related to SVN that remaining. You can see them in [Installation details -> Plugins].
Go to your eclipse installation folder (e.g. C:\Eclipse on windows, /Applications/Eclipse on Mac OS X) then plugins folder and remove every file starting with "org.eclipse.team.svn"
You can see the list of the files that need to be removed from Plugins section of Installation details.
Try giving it a fake one and see if it goes away? :)

Subclipse plugin doesn't work in Eclipse?

even though there was no error when installing Subclipse in Eclipse. I won't see the SVN perspective at all?
I have tried with "Eclipse Classic 3.5.1" and with "Eclipse for PHP Developers".
After downloading and unzipping the packages I used Eclipse's "Install Software" mechanism to install Subclipse 1.6.x. I followed the steps described here: http://www3.math.tu-berlin.de/jreality/mediawiki/index.php/Subclipse_installation_in_eclipse_galileo.
But after Eclipse re-starts I don't get any SVN Repository perspective? I have tried to un-install/re-install all the software components many times now. Finally after 3 hours of trying I am giving up. Does anyone have any hint what I am missing?
Thanks!
Peter
I had the same problem. I use Windows 7 64 bits OS. I clean read-only flag of eclipse folder in C:\Program Files (x86) and give full access right to all users on my PC. I reinstalled it from update site and it works.
This is a known bug with subclipse: http://subclipse.tigris.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=992
EDIT For anyone keeping track of this, it looks like Eclipse Helios SR1 may have fixed the issue. I haven't tested it myself yet, but by the sounds of the discussion at https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=322929 it should now be working.
I just had this same issue with Ubuntu. It turned out to be permissions. Once I gave write permissions to everywhere in my eclipse installation and then reinstalled subclipse, its views and so forth appeared, just like magic.
I don't know what you are looking for. But after installing the Subclipse plugin, you should have a new entry in the File | New | Project dialog. Something along the lines of "Checkout project from SVN"
Then when you hit continue, you can enter your SVN repository details, check the branch you are interested in, etc. After checking out a project, you can right click on it and go to the "Team" submenu to get the features provided by Subclipse like check in code, diff, merge, etc.
I ran into the exact same problem too. I installed both Subclipse and GWT/GAE plugins and couldn't find any evidence of them after installation.
I'm on Windows 7 and had installed Eclipse 3.5 SR2 into C:\Program Files (x86)\eclipse-3.5. I also put my workspace in C:\Program Files (x86)\eclipse-3.5\workspace. When I was checking things I noticed there was a lock icon on the C:\Program Files (x86)\eclipse-3.5\workspace.
I reinstalled Eclipse to C:\dev\eclipse and the workspace to C:\dev\eclipse\workspace. After that the installation of the plugins went without a hitch and I could see the SVN Repository Exploring perspective (no idea why some of the other posters claim this perspective doesn't exist). I suspect it was some sort of permissions problem on the directories.
Another way to check and see if the whole thing was installed correctly is to go to the SVN Repositories view. Go to Window -> Show View -> Other, and then search for SVN. If you see a bunch of SVN views like "Repositories," Subclipse is installed.
I had this problem due to some kind of incompatibility between Subclipse and Android ADT plugins. One answer suggested yoxos which gives you all your eclipse plugins from one central repository.
Had the same problem. I work on Linux, and when I installed eclipse in /usr/local/eclipse, Subclipse did not show up. The solution was to install Eclipse locally, e.g. in /home/user/eclipse. Now Subclipse (and other plugins too) worked!
Edit: guess it could be the same on Windows.
I think this is due to some incompatibilities between the packages of subclipse and the gwt 2.x plugin and android... as this started happen to me after I upgrade to v 2.0 of gwt back in the day.
The same issue repeats both on Mac and Windows... and it seems no fix has been released.
Now the only way I've found to move on with my work is to remove subclipse and install the latest subversive plugin instead.
http://www.eclipse.org/subversive/
I know this ain't subclipse but it works very similar and no issues with gwt nor android plugins.
it worked for me and so I hope it works for you in the mean time.
cheers,
G.
