It was mentioned in one of the posts that we can show Toasts on Live Tv .
I am planning to develop a native GoogleTv app which fetches the Twitter updates and displays them as Toast messages while user is watching Live TV .
My question is - While invoking Toast function, which Activity class reference do we need to provide inorder to display Toast messages on Live TV?
Please, do help me with this doubt.
Take a look at http://developer.android.com/guide/topics/ui/notifiers/toasts.html

Can't find an answer to this anywhere, so here goes nothing
Have built an video Facebook app that publish opengraph actions when users watch tv_shows. Everything works fine, Actions is getting published, Videos can be streamed inline Facebook and users can add videos to there collection ( Watch later etc )
User can click tv_show name and they will come to the app, They can click app name and come to app.
But then it also shows Watch this TV Show (insecure) if clicked it will show a long error.
See this 2 screenshots for better understanding

Everything is delivered from secure connections so am puzzled and i can't find any answer to this.
Anyone ?
I have always been told that "incoming call" screen is not customizable, because of apple's controls. But this app has obviously modified the incoming call screen.
link here: Check this
Just wonder how this is done, because this app is on app store, meaning we don't need to root iOS.
Can any one help?
From the way the article is worded, it sounds like the sync.me app scans your friends social network status updates and appends them to the picture you have saved on their contact info.
The call screen is not being modified. Just the picture associated with the contact.
I am developing an app for windows 8 , in which I want the toast to have link to any webpage or any other metro application rather than the own application.
note:The web link or App Name will be entered by the user.
This isn't supported. Toasts can only take the user to the application that sent the toast. See below.
From MSDN:
A toast notification can contain text and/or images, but secondary
actions such as buttons are not supported.
and
When a user taps or clicks the notification, the associated app is
launched and the user can expect that the resulting view is related to
the content of the notification. It is the only mechanism by which one
app can interrupt a user in another app.
You can also try this :
create a new xaml page with WebBrowser element and use following code to easily navigate to webpage.
Here On clicking the shell Toast it is navigated to the specific page inside your app specified in the url.
It's just a workaround it's not great but will partially accomplish your task.
Thanks .
Is it possible to post my own message and publish it on the app ticker whenever i want?
(Not talking about the general ticker on users feed, but the one you have when you enter an app)
For example: Every time a user logged in, facebook publish a message in app ticker (on the right) that the user started to play the app.
I believe what you're looking for is publishing an action.
For a high-level explanation: https://developers.facebook.com/docs/beta/opengraph/#news-feed
For the tutorial: https://developers.facebook.com/docs/beta/opengraph/tutorial/
You can set specific Open Graph actions for your application that will be viable to appear in the app ticker. I do not think there is anyway to FORCE facebook to display your action.
You can read more here about the Open Gaph Protocol.
Is that possible pop up the UI which comes during the deletion process before deleting the app ? (A UI which has stars, no thanks, rate my app button).
If no, can you tell me whether it is possible to create a screen and send the rating captured to iTunes connect ?
As other people said, your best option is to send people to the review/ratings page on iTunes.
The best open source solution I found for this is Appirater.
I use it in my apps and it works great + it generates many reviews.
You can configure when the popup should show. It basically looks like this:

It was created by Arash Payan, visit his page about Appirater with all the information.
This form always pops up if you delete an app on your iPhone. I don't think you can grab personal ratings out of iTunes but once you gather a sufficient number of votes you'll see the details on your app iTunes page.
You cannot present this UI yourself—it's handled by the OS. You can, however, direct your users to your app's rating page in the App Store app by opening an appropriate iTunes store URL, as documented in the “Heading straight to a review form” section of this article.
