I'm currently developing an app for nokia smart phone mobile using "display=touch", however the fb oauth dialog doesn't render properly on QWebview nor QML Webview.
When I use "display=wap", the fb oauth dialog renders properly.
Is it appropriate to use WAP for Nokia smart phones?
I also used display=wap, the same than you since touch didn't work OK, and I didn't notice any bad side-effects on Symbian. This was some time ago though (couple of months).

I'm trying to have my html5 site open the native iPhone Facebook app to authenticate users.
The site currently uses OAuth 2 on the server side - so it redirects everyone to the web version of Facebook. This is a problem because I dont want to force people to log in on a tiny keyboard.
Can you get the html5 app to open in Safari and authenticate through the native FB app?
If this is not possible with Facebook is it possible with Twitter apps? What is the experience like on android?
I do know that you can authenticate between a native iPhone app and the native Facebook app.
Yes you can do this just use the boilerplate code in facebook developers section of the site and following the guide exactly... I have tried this and it worked for me you just need to find a way to connect your oAuth to this...
I have an AIR app that I am wanting to convert to a IOS APP (using flash as3)
I have used the facebook for flash api in the past, but what theat usually entails is the app opening a new browser window to log in to facebook and authorise the app.
How can I do this using to build the app as a mobile app?
There are updated versions of the same API specialized for mobile. Which will, Instead of a new window, will open the login page in a StageWebView that spans across the screen. You can find the API at http://code.google.com/p/facebook-actionscript-api/
If you want to use the same API with the new single-Sign-On method you can read my post at http://saumitrabhave.blogspot.in/2011/10/facebook-single-sign-on-for-air-ios.html
facebook-actionscript-api in googlecode is too old. I'm try it in my project, but it failed.
Now, I use ANE-Facebook. It is working fine in my iOS and Android device.
There is a sample.
Does anyone know of a good website that I can check to find out what are the mobile phones (smartphones) that support facebook apps (Facebook API calls and all that)?
I am pretty sure that all smartphones have facebook support except for blackberries, but I would still like to find a full list.
Blackberry currently has it in their AppWorld http://appworld.blackberry.com/webstore/content/680?lang=en
Nokia currently has it in their Ovi Store http://store.ovi.com/search?q=facebook
Saying that I don't believe there is a current "smart" phone that doesn't have a facebook app. I didn't link it, but Palm/HP WebOS also has a facebook app.
To also answer the API question I saw 3rd party apps on all platforms as well so I don't believe there is a current app market/platform that doesn't support the FB API.
It would be based more on OS. iOS, Android, and Windows 7 all support the calls. According to this SO Question, Blackberry works too.
There is also the Facebook Blackberry SDK
Basically, I'm doing some thesis.
A facebook application that is playable on Mobile Devices.
The idea is,
1. I'll create an application.
2. It will be playable on Facebook. http://apps.facebook.com/[name]
3. It will be accessible and playable on Mobile Web Browser through http://apps.facebook.com/[name]
If you have any idea on developing an application on facebook that is playable on Mobile Web Browser as well. It will be much appreciated if you shared it with me.
Things that I've researched so far:
1. Not all flash game are playable on Mobile Devices.
Flash-lite can't handle all apps, like Farmville.
2. Server-side games work pretty well. Mafia Wars and the like..
Solution I think so far:
HTML5 Canvas.
Problem:
I don't know what kind of framework that will work pretty well for the Desktop browser and Mobile Web Browser as well.
Thanks for reading.. ><
You can't run game or any other mobile web app on url http://apps.facebook.com/[name] because facebook will load you app in iframe and currenty facebook layout when displaying canvas apps is't made for phones only desktop.
I had the same problem recentry but it wasn't the game but some forum like app. My solution was to have the mobile app on domain myapp.com and when it's load I detect if device is mobile or desktop.
If it's a desktop browser I redirect user to fb canvas app on http://apps.facebook.com/name which runs the same app from the same domain myapp.com but uses different visual templates for displaying it self.
And if it's a mobile phone I leave user on myapp.com and display app with visual templates for mobile version.
So I have same app with two visual interfaces, one for desktop that runs inside facebook and one on mobile. And mobile version uses facebook connect to login user. Database in background is the same and basically everything is the same except interface.
And it work really well.
I am working in face book functionality in my apps. I have integrated the latest Face book-IOS-SDK. When runs the application, the application is started and runs in the safari browser. Now I want to load the application in the user view(FB web view) instead of Safari. How can I achieve this?
Facebook doesn't want you to. Facebook's new SDK wants the user to login into Facebook once, and than that Facebook login be used in every app on the device that uses Facebook. Because of the way the iPhone works, the way they had to do that was through safari so that each app could get that info. You can go back to the original way (which so far I personally prefer), but I'm not entirely sure how.
However, if you use the new way, it will automatically redirect the user back to your app once they finish authenticating it. Also in the Safari page they can give your app permissions, ie. post status updates.
