I just installed Monodevelop 3.0.3.2 on a Windows XP VM but I'm getting an error once I try to update:
Is MonoDevelop 3 supported on Windows XP? Would I have more success building from source?

I've enabled the support for windows-desktop on flutter... but is there any way to compile and run the windows flutter app on macOS?
As of now! Unfortunately, "build windows" is only supported on Windows hosts.
However, you can have have virtual tools to help you build on Mac for example
Apple Boot Camp
The Boot Camp Assistant app is pre-installed on every recent Mac, and launching it will walk you through the process of installing Windows 10.
Parallels Desktop
Using Parallels Desktop 11, you can run Windows apps side-by-side with existing Mac applications, including Visual Studio and Cortana.
VMWare Fusion
Fusion 8 from VMWare will let you run Visual Studio right on your Mac desktop.
Oracle VirtualBox
VirtualBox is a free application for running virtual machines on your computer, and it supports running Windows on Mac.
Once you have these tools, you can install windows and start developing on Windows but virtually through Mac host.
I downloaded unity 5.1.03f 64bit editor for windows and installed it.
Installation is error free. When finished the installation, When tring to open the unity, the following error is showing. How can I fix this?
To file a bug report I found only how to do it from the app;)
Visual Studio Code has been tested on the following platforms.
Ubuntu Desktop 14.04
OS X Yosemite
Windows 8.0, 8.1 and 10 (x86 and x64)
Official info in the website (https://code.visualstudio.com/docs/requirements)
Google knows everything, and I found what's going on here: Microsoft desktop library docs.
This method RegisterTouchWindow is supported from Windows 8. Kind of expected.
Visual Studio Code download page states support for Vista;) I didn't use Microsoft Products (except OS) for some time, though shall be surprised:)
I am using install4j to create a Window and Mac OSX installer for a new version of my software. The only thing that has changed since my last distribution is my application. I have not changed any of the launcher or media file options in install4j. After building the installer, the Windows installer runs fine. The Mac OSX installer gives an error message on some machines. The message is "You need at least a 1.7 Java Virtual Machine to install..." However, a user reported that they already have 1.7 installed but still gets the error message. Does anyone know what is causing this error? Does install4j require 1.7 to run on a Mac?
Thanks
Edit the media file of your Mac OS X installer and go to the "JRE" step. If "Installed OpenJDK JRE" is selected, then Java 7 and higher is required. The above message indicates that no such JRE was installed. Also, make sure to update to the latest version of install4j.
My boss just asked me about Windows 8. He wants to get me a new laptop. And is still confused about the os.
Can VS2010 be installed on windows 8? because VS2012 can be installed in windows 7.
How about like eclipse java android? Can they run in windows 8?
the visual studio 2012 is more recommended in windows 8 in order to install certain sdk's like windows phone 8 sdk .. so it should work even more smooth in windows 8
eclipse and java also work fine ... most of the application that works with win 7 will work with win 8 without a problem i didn't find any issue tell now only some drive that wasn't installed correctly and the windows search for the drive for me and install it from the device manager .. the only issue that i can't solve it tell now the 2 finger scrolling.
According to Microsoft website, VS 2012 is compatible with Windows 8 :
http://www.microsoft.com/visualstudio/11/en-us/products/compatibility
I read some returns about Eclipse, that's not possible (or not basically possible) to run it on Windows 8 right now, but I guess it will be soon, when Windows 8 will be released...
Windows 8 is just another OS by MICROSOFT where they have changed the architecture of the Operating System. All those software that were compatible on previous version on Windows will be working fine in windows 8. Windows 8 has apps as the new thing in it.
It does not matter you buy a laptop with or without windows 8. its an operating system which you can install on any machine provided it has the basic requirements of windows 8.
I just installed windows 8, visual studio 2012, eclipse, java and everything works fine
you can use either VS 2012 or VS 2010 in Windows 8. VS 2012 is compatible only in Windows8.
A touch screen is not a must to use Windows 8 but it is recommended for the best user experience.
