I am wandering if it is possible to build a developer build in a file which can be downloaded from a/my server by my test users. As it is now I have to connect each device to my computer and build to it?
I have seen when building a phonegap build for iOS in Dreamveawer it generates a file I can install on my iPhone using a QR code?
Hoping for help and thanks in advance!
It is possible to do so but I'd suggest using the free and excellent TestFlightApp to manage distributing your developer builds.
If you do want to distribute an ad-hoc build on your own, then follow these instructions.
You can archive your app and save it for Ad-Hoc distribution.
Ad-Hoc distribution enables you to distribute your app through an HTML page, it means that clients could install the app using their iOS Safari.

How do I generate IPA file for my ionic app without using Mac? Is it even possible?
Currently, I just need the generated IPA file; I don't need to deploy the app to the App Store.
I've looked around and these are what I got:
Use Ionic package - unfortunately, all links to Ionic package that I got are all dead. So can I assume this service is dead?
Use https://build.phonegap.com/ . I know Ionic is based on Phonegap, but does this service actually supports compiling Ionic codes without needing me to modify anything? And even if it can, I read that it needs some sort of certificates to compile to IPA. Is there any way I can get the certificate without a Mac?
Use MacInCloud.com. If the options above aren't available, I plan to purchase the pay-as-you-go plan. My question is, do this thing allows me to compile to IPA without me needing any other stuff? Like certificates or whatsoever.
I’m using Ionic Pro (https://ionicframework.com/appflow) to build an IPA and diawi.com to send the app to my clients for testing. To publish app in Apple App Store, I’m using MacInCloud.
I'm using macincloud service to try/play/learn about building iPhone apps. I have a dummy app, and I'll like to test it on my real device.
I've got the developer certificate, I've installed the profiles, but now I'll like to test my app on a real device. Because it is not possible to connect my iPhone to the macincloud servie and because I'm on a windows machine, how can I test my app on a real device(the one with UDID that was used in generating the certificates and provisioning profiles).
Is there any file that xCode is generating and it can be used to transfer on a real device from a Win7 machine?
You need to generate an archive in XCode, and then from the organizer click "Share" to generate an IPA file. This file along with the ad-hoc provisioning profile can install the app on a provisioned device via iTunes on a Mac or a Windows machine.
For info on provisioning your device for ad-hoc deployment, see here: http://mobiforge.com/developing/story/deploying-iphone-apps-real-devices or the apple developer docs.
Good Luck.
Correct answers have been given already. However, have a look at http://testflightapp.com . That might come handy when you go for more test devices especially when you want to distribute it to a beta testing community.
You want to do an Ad-Hoc build. You will have to read Apple's docs to see whats involved. Then you will have an app file you can install with any iTunes.
I am beginner to PhoneGap app development. Below are my queries.
1. Is it possible to setup PhoneGap SDK without Xcode installation.
2. If YES then how to do same.
3. If NO then is there any way I can write a iphone application without Xcode installation(I dont want to pay 99$, because I m a begineer).
4. I have a MAC, Windows, Linux PCs. Tell me all the free SWs. Its ok if I am not able to test the application initially.
Is it possible to setup PhoneGap SDK without Xcode installation.
No.
If NO then is there any way I can write a iphone application without Xcode installation(I dont want to pay 99$, because I'm a beginner)
XCode is free. It's in the AppStore. The $99 is to give you the ability to distribute applications in the AppStore and run it on a device. You will still be able to develop and run applications in an emulator for free.
I you don't want to install the dev environment, you can use their cloud service to build native apps written in HTML+CSS+Javascript. It's free and allows you to target all the supported platforms.
https://build.phonegap.com/
You only have to upload your finished app and get a compiled, native app.
I have created Map application for iPhone using xcode 3.2 and sdk 4.3.2. I have created
ipa file and send it to my client. But he is unable to run my project on his iPod. What are
the steps to follow for my client to run an project ipa file. Do my client need to jailbroke his device????
Open iTunes, drag the ipa to the library and then sync the device. Make sure the app is selected to be installed on the device.
The only other thing I can think of, is that his device is not provisioned to run the application. Have him give you the UDID, add him to the provisioning profile and then make another build if the first solution does not work.
And no he doesn't need to jail break his device.
don't jailbreak!
use testflightapp.com :)
follow their directions, and make sure you register your client's device and update your provisioning profiles when building your app.
good luck!
if you have a developper licence, you should try TestFlightApp.com.
I've just explained what's this tool there: How do install iPhone application from Xcode to a remote iPhone
how can I deploy my prototype app in order to test it on my iphone? obviously it isn't at the stage where it can go on the app store but I;d like to play about with it for testing..
Do I HAVE to enrol in the developer program?
You need to be enrolled in the Apple Developer Program to receive a certificate you can use to sign your apps to be installed on your iDevice.
In short, yes. But you knew that.
Although we as a developer don't suggest illegal installation, but some developers may find it is actually easier with the dark method:
Install you iPhone or iPad with "Installous" and "iFile",
with iFile, you can open a wifi port for any computer in the same wifi network to access the machine from there browser and upload file to the machines (without using iTune), so you can put your *.ipa file in the machine.
In order to manually install the ipa file, you may want to use the Installous, so what someone will do is to put the ipa to the [root]/mobile/Documents/Installous/Downloads, then when you open up Installous, go to Downloads, you will see your ipa and be able to install it!
Hope this hope.
