Facebook API "This app is in development mode" - facebook

What does "development mode" mean for a facebook app? I find no exact explanation of what I can and can't do while in development mode and what's the relation with the "Not available to all users because your app is not live".
Some people also refer to it as "Sandbox mode" so I have a lot of confusion between "development mode", "sandbox mode", "live vs not available to general public"

I know its a little bit late but someone may find this useful in future.
STEP 1:
Login to facebook Developer -> Your App
In Settings -> Basic -> Contact Email. (Give any email)
STEP 2:
And in 'App Review' Tab : change
Do you want to make this app and all its live features available to the general public? Yes
And you app will be live now ..

Click app review and Turn on the Make your app Public toggle. Save changes

This problem occurs when we set our app as unavailable to the public.
STEP 1
Open Facebook developer account
https://www.facebook.com/login/?next=https%3A%2F%2Fdevelopers.facebook.com%2Fdocs%2Ffacebook-login%2Fios
STEP 2
Select your application
STEP 3
Click the app Review tab.
Change switch value no to yes. See picture below.
After this your app is live.

Development mode is for testing
Go to https://developers.facebook.com/apps, then App Review -> Select No for Your app is in development and unavailable to the public
Go to Roles -> Testers, enter the Facebook user Id of the users you want to enable testing

Follow these basic steps to fix this problem,
Step 1: Go to Dashboard,
Step 2: Go to "App Review" tab,
Step 3: Enable the "Make test public?" option, Like Below image,

I had also faced the same issue in which my FB app was automatically stopped and users were not able to login and were getting the message "app is in development mode.....".
Reason why FB automatically stopped my app was that I had not provided a valid PRIVACY policy & terms URL. So, make sure you enter these URLs on your app basic settings page and then make your app PUBLIC from app review page as described in above posts.

in your app dashboard check status to on

for testing purposes only you could Go to your facebook developer dashboard.
create your app then in the top left corner open the apps dropdown menu and click create test app take the app ID and use instead.

I have the same problem while integrating the Facebook SDK for login.
I'm suggesting below approach for development mode > you can test all things if you are login with same account, which is used for 'developers.facebook.com' and if you want to use another accounts then you need to add Roles for that particular app, for that you can add developer or testers by using fid or facebook username.
Eg: - Select the particular app > Roles and then add developer or testers.

Facebook rejected app from App Review

In my iOS app, I have used FacebookSDK and sharing features. For that I have included permission for publish_actions at login time. As per Facebook guideline you have to submit your app for review if you are using FacebookSDK.
So I have submitted my application for Facebook review along with simulator build, some descriptions, screencast (video or images) for how app is posted on Facebook. But Facebook rejects my app and I can’t identify reason.
It shows reason is cant get item 1 of {}. Any one have any idea why build is rejected and how Facebook review apps.
I faced same issue, when I have uploaded app for Facebook review it rejected two times. Here are couple of things you should look on them :
Login on Facebook for Developers
Go to App Review from left panel
From above screen shot click on first edit notes
Check respective check box as per your requirements.
Select one option from radio buttons as per your requirements.
Add step by step description of How your app use FacebookSDK here also include credentials (Facebook username and password which does not used before) for testing.
At last upload video as screencast (Your application video how it works with Facebook and you have to show how it look on your timeline on Facebook)
Click on Save.
Now from above screen shot click on second edit notes
Add test user if you want to add.
Select different build, upload build (which built with simulator) there and save.
Now hit on Submit For Review
Then also if any case you get rejected, Click on Green Have Question button. Add manager as your app name and select, then ask question to support team that what is the problem with your build and what is reason for reject. They will reply and you will find solution.

problems with Facebook share button

The goal is to use facebook share button.
"App Not Setup: This app is still in development mode, and you don't have access to it. Switch to a registered test user or ask an app admin for permissions."
This is a message when I want to login with other than my app account. When I login with my app account I can use the button otherwise not. Is it because I use test apps delails? When I use my original website app id it gives the same message. In settings it is available to public. Test application is in development mode, it doesnt change to available to public. Should I remove test version or?
Thanks in advance.
Your application is in development and no one user can use this application except developers and organizers. You can see list of all people who can use your app at menu item "Roles" at application dashboard. To make your application available to other people make next steps:
Go to app dashboard at facebook -> Settings -> set contact email -> App Review -> swith first slider to YES position.
After this manipulations other people can login to your app correctly.

Facebook login approved but can't be used

The following sections of my Facebook app is approved:
app details
email
public_profile
user_friends
but still I see the following message when trying to login with users:
"App Not Setup: This app is still in development mode, and you don't have access to it. Switch to a registered test user or ask an app admin for permissions."
Why is it happening? What am I forgetting?
You have to make your app public. Go to https://developers.facebook.com/apps/ and select your app, then go to "Status & Review" and set the button on the upper right side (Do you want to make this app and all its live features available to the general public?) to Yes...
That should do.

How to disable sandbox mode in new facebook app developer?

Question 1:
Is this the correct way to to disable sandbox mode in the new facebook app developer dashboard?
a) Go to the "Status & Review" section.
b) Select "Yes" after the text "Do you want to make this app and all its live features available to the general public?"
Question 2:
I created my fb app so that I can cross-post blog entries from my WordPress blog to my facebook wall.
If I click "Yes" after "Do you want to make this app and all its live features available to the general public?" will the general public will be able to use my app to post to my facebook account? (Fyi I don't want this to happen.)
Question 3:
Is it possible to disable Sandbox mode without having to fill out privacy policy info? I want to be able to use my app - but don't want the app to be searchable in the facebook app center or used by others.
Any clarification would be appreciated. Thanks a lot.
You can see it in the App's Settings then Basic Tab, then fill up the "Contact Email" which is in the right side.
https://developers.facebook.com/apps/xxxxxx/settings/
change xxx to your app id
Here is the step by step guide:
Open https://developers.facebook.com/
Select your app from top navigation bar (Apps)
Click on Status & Review (Left Sidebar)
You will find a toggle button to do on/off your app from sandbox
mode. By default it will on for sandbox mode if you are creating new app.
or you can open url like
https://developers.facebook.com/apps/YOUR-APP-ID/review-status/

iOS 6 the facebook server could not fulfill this access request invalid application

In some iPhone 5 devices we have an error when trying to call Facebook login:
The error is:
"the facebook server could not fulfill this access request invalid application id"
I many times checked that application id is specified correctly.
Strange, that on other devices same app is working correctly.
Please, could you help, what the reason of that?
All developers of a particular app, should be known to Facebook. While the application is in Sandbox mode (i.e. developer only access), all every user who want to use the Facebook platform, for testing/developing the application, will have to be added as a developer (as shown below) -
Just goto https://developers.facebook.com/apps/, and add the user, in the list of developers/admins.
More than likely the app is "sandboxed", so only developers have access. If this is the case you'll have to use a developer account on the iPhone.
Go to iOS settings > Facebook
Log out with your "personal" account
Log in with the developer account (to be safe us the dev account that you created the app with)
This worked for me.
I faced this problem. For me the issue was that I hadn't added the iOS platform for the app. Go to the Facebook developer page, then select your app. In the left nav bar go to settings. Then add platform. Ensure that your bundle identifier is correct. Then it should work.
If you have been testing with a sandbox facebook app and then receive this error when switching to the production app make sure you have published the app in the status & review tab.
