When I sending email by thunderbird the same leaves a copy in gmail in sent folder.
How can I leave the copy only in thunderbird or in my pc?
Try to setup a filter Gmail to erase your sent messages. Make a filter with your email address in the "From" field.
In Thunderbird ,
Options -> Acoount Settings -> Copies & Folders
in the box "When sending messages, automatically "
tick the box Place a copy in
and select options in " "Sent" Folder on" to ,your Thunderbird mail address or Local Folder

I have seen in many cases that if the mailer is owner checked then you need to make sure that the email you put in "Email address to send mail from" is the same as the user who owns the contact.
I am not sure about your SMTP but for SES it is very common. Also ensure when you create email, in the advance settings the from address is blank or have the same email address.
I really want to know why does sent email cant be unsend
Is it because after mail reach the recipient MTA our Mail Server does not have control/permission to that MTA so it is not possible to unsend it?
Or is it because in the recipient SMTP Server has downloaded the sender mail, so it will always available in the recipient SMTP Server after get sent?
or what cause that ?
and if the cause is point number 1, my question what if the Mail Server is the same as mine or in other words for example me and the recipient use gmail
thank you for helping me
The reason might surprise you but it's rather simple. Because time is linear and you can't travel back in time.
Now, if both you(the sender) and someone else(the receiver) have Microsoft Outlook AND your email accounts are hosted in a Microsoft Exchange Server, then:
Open the Sent Items folder, and double-click to open the email you want to recall.
In the Message window, please click Message > Actions > Recall This Message. See screenshot:
In the popping out Recall This Message dialog box, please check the Delete unread copies of this message option, and click the OK button. See screenshot:
Note: It’s optional to check the Tell me if recall succeeds or fails for each recipient option.
If your recipients have not read the specified email yet, this email will be deleted from their Outlook automatically.
I am working on tracking emails using pixel image. It is tracking the email and increasing the read count when the receiver is opening the email.
The issue is, it is also tracking the email and increasing the read count when the sender is opening the email.
What should I do so that the email is tracked only when the receiver opens the email?
Thanks in advance!
A sender can open an email which normally gets saved in his/her Sent folder.
Suppose an email is send by a sender. Then a copy of this email would normally be saved in Sent folder of sender. Now, a copy of email is saved in Sent folder via IMAP or proprietary WebMail or Mobile Application. You can easily embed appropriate pixel image in email when it gets saved in Sent folder via WebMail or Mobile Application because you yourself create the email MIME. When email is saved in Sent folder via IMAP, then you might need to parse the email MIME and embed appropriate pixel image in email which is send by IMAP Client to be saved in Sent folder.
*Modifying the email saved in folder via IMAP Client is normally not done.
I have an email address set up on a certain domain, and I have added an alias email address in my Google Apps account set up on another domain. I've also added that alias on the second domain to "Send mail as" to be able to send emails from that email address.
Problem is that when I send emails from that alias, they don't appear in the sent items. Why is this? How can I resolve it?
i just figured it out and it now works, even previously sent mails from an alias via gmail also appear in my sent messages.
in gmail, go to settings, account and imports, in the "send mail as" section, click on "edit info" next to the account which you are having the problem with.
on the screen which pops up, uncheck the radio box for "treat as an alias" dont change any other info, click next step, enter your password and click save changes.
thats all it took to sort out my issue.
best regards
They way I'm reading this is: you've added an alias/secondary in Google Apps account, example.com, for another domain you own, test.com. After doing this, you created an email alias for your Google Apps user and setup a send as address for #test.com within your #example.com account.
If this is the case, the expected behavior is: emails you send from your example.com account as your test.com account will appear in the 'Sent Mail' label for your example.com account. I've just double checked this to confirm.
Can you please provide your exact steps to reproduce the issue if the above isn't correct or you're seeing different behavior?
Sign in to your Google Apps email.
Click the in the upper-right and select Settings along the top of any page, and select the Accounts tab.
Under Send mail as, click Add another email address.
In the Email address field, enter your name and alternate email address.
Click Next Step >> and then click Send Verification. Gmail will send a verification message to your other email address to confirm that you own it.
Locate the message from Gmail. Open it and and either click the link contained in the message or enter the confirmation code in the Accounts section of your Google Apps email settings.
Then select
When replying to a message:
Reply from the same address the message was sent to
Is there a universal name which should be used for "Trash" messages?
E.g when testing the same email account on Thunderbird, Outlook and iPhone. When deleting a message they all move this into a different named folder.
No, the IMAP standard does not dictate the name for folders. There are some extensions used by some servers (notably GMail's XLIST) to help with this problem.
Most email clients can be reconfigured to use a different folder. For example, in Thunderbird's account settings, you can change the option "move deleted mail to [folder]". Apple Mail has a "Use this folder for Trash" menu item.
