Cover Photo and Theme on Apple App Store - app-store

I noticed that a few applications like Candy Crush, Paper, Star Wars:Uprising have a theme and a cover photo on the App Store.
I tried looking on Apple's guidelines but couldn't find anything related to it.
Does anyone know how it is done or if someone could direct me to where I can find the guidelines for using a theme or cover photo, that would be great!
Any help is appreciated!
Thanks in advance!

Only featured apps can have cover image or theme for customization. These applications are selected by Apple based on popularity, media coverage, proper implementation of WWDC rules, Good UI/U experience. This isn't on the developer's hand to change cover image or theme.
Official confirmation about this is found on this site -
Applications that have custom background art on the App Store are
selected editorially by Apple. If your application is selected to be
receive custom art, you will be contacted by an Apple representative.

Three20 integration in iPhone

I am new for iPhone application development. I want to make an photo album application. But I don't know how to show images like slideshow in iPhone. After searching on internet I got an information about three20 open framework. So I want to know about how should I start with three20. I also downloaded the facebook source from github.
I also got some information that if we use some private API of three20 then our app won't be accepted for apple store.
so please guide me.
Thank you
Apple referred indirectly to the three20 framework in their last Developer Conference and stated it is not necessary to use third party frameworks for photo viewer style scrolling applications. Three20 is fantastic coding, but is now outdated and solves a problem that has since been resolved by Apple's standard library code (e.g. photo scroller with zoom - Indeed Apple claim there was never a problem in the first place, but that there was insufficient documentation for developers to know how to do photo scrolling efficiently). Unless you want to implement the other specific three20 features you are best off avoiding using it. Check out the developer conference videos on advanced scroll views.
The most relevant video is from WWDC 2010 - assuming you have iOS dev center membership, you can check this, which is the most relevant:
and look for the session "Designing apps with Scroll Views"

Advice on having add-ons to app

I have an app that displays cartoon characters. I wanted to start to offer additional characters, or even have accessories to place on the characters.
Can anyone offer advice as to the best way to do that?
Can that be done through the app store, or do I need to have my own mechanism for downloading them?
I have seen many apps where you can download clothes, etc. by touching an icon in the app, but I have not yet found any documentation or tutorials.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
You can use In-App-Purchases for that. Apple will handle the financial side of things (charging the user through iTunes) and you'll have to handle the rest (downloading or unlocking the new content).
See the documentation: Selling with In-App Purchase

Are there UI guidelines for facebook canvas apps?

Does Facebook offer guidelines or some kind of CSS style library for Facebook canvas apps? Something that a developer could use to make the look and feel of their canvas app compliment Facebook? I'm speaking along the lines of fonts, colors, dialog box styles, etc.
I guess, in theory, I'm looking for something along the lines of interface builder in iOS development.
Understanding the Platform Policies will help you better design and develop your app. Check the examples and explanations too.
Facebook has published a social design guideline. They also have a brand permissions guideline for when you want to use their logo, colors, etc. But they don't have a specific css/stylesheet guideline like you are asking for.
The following is a link to everything that facebook offers a developer, it does not include any stylesheet guidelines:
https://github.com/facebook
The only thing I could think of is when I was implementing Facebook credits, Facebook had guidelines regarding the image to use and a best practice for the flow of purchasing a virtual item with Facebook credits besides that you should be able to develop your app however you like.
You said you where looking for something along the lines of interface builder in iOS development, but I would compare facebook more like the interface builder for Android, everything goes.

Will my app get rejected because of this?

i am developing a ebook reader app for iPad and i am facing a issue related to the design aspects of the bookshelf. I am posting a sample photo of my bookshelf here. I want the book shelf to have a horizontal navigation similar to that of the iBooks. Will this come under violation of Apple's HIG?? Will they consider this design to be a imitation of their iBooks design and reject it?? I'm worried...
Sadly they are not consistent about rejection. Good news they are more keen on their logos and device picture, so you can't use an iPhone/iPod in your app as picture for explain controls but sometimes you see apps like this. I am not developer myself but friends of mine and blogs about the topic says this. Thats why I didn't pay $99 for being a developer.
Your app resemble to Apple's app but in real life book shelves are resemble to each other, so we can call them the same. Bad thing: only by submitting it you will know they approve it or not...
Important thing, to kill all bug before this. If they approve it with the bug (that can happen), and then you want to update it, maybe they reject the updated version.

App-store: Is it a good idea to include a youtube video link in the description of an app?

Will the viewers be able to click on a link from a description or is this not possible as far as how the app-store works?
I'd like to show the users what the app will look like before they buy it by showing them a video of it on youtube.
Thanks
p.s and no, this is not a marketing question. Only programmers know the answer to this question because we're the ones that are usually writing the description and hooking it all up. I want to know if feasible or not as far as apple is concerned. If you don't like the question, let someone else answer it.
I don't think Apple will like the users being taken out of the App Store, especially on the devices. Also, as the description is text only and there is no way to copy&paste text, putting a link will be pointless.
I would rather embed the video on the website referred as the developer website.
I don't think it is possible to have clickable links in the app store description. I have seen clickable links in updates notes for an app.
Most Links to YouTube I have seen in the App Store use a url shortener as plain text in the description.
