Greenplum - Install Greenplum on Single Server - postgresql

is it possible to install GP on single server
Which version is supported for the same
Did any one try this? What are Linux packages required ?, Can anyone please share information regarding this
Thanks

Yes it is possible and you can download a VM with everything already installed. There is a link on http://greenplum.org/ Click on "Get the Sandbox".
I also created a blog post that describes in detail how to create your own VM with Greenplum Database installed.
http://www.pivotalguru.com/?p=1111

I have installed it,
Only need to make 2 hostname entries in host file for same server.
I have created mdw for master and sdw1,sdw2 for segments(1+2)

Azure Data Factory - Copy Data from PostgreSQL DB on Ubuntu

Trying to copy data from PostgreSQL DB on an Ubuntu box that needs IPs whitelisted to access it. With Azure Data Factory IPs changing all the time and since i cannot install Self-hosted integration runtime as its a Linux server, what other options are available to be able to copy data from this PostgreSQL DB into an Azure SQL DB without having to worry about the IP addresses. Any suggestions or known solutions for this please?
Based on the document,ADF Self-hosted integration runtime can't be installed on the linux server, only could be used on the windows server.
BTW,this feature will also not be supported recently, please follow this feedback link.
the latest comment:Currently we don't have any plan on this yet. Could
you share us your reasons why do you want Linux?
As workaround,i suggest you get an idea of Azure DMS(Database Migration Service). Please see more detail about it from this link and this video.

Where did the service-connector plugin go?

Latest since this checkin the service-connector cf plugin seems to be gone for SwisscomDev.
Official Link to the plugin simply returns a 404.
Isn't it supported anymore? What's the alternative? And did I miss communication about it?
Isn't it supported anymore? What's the alternative?
Yes. Our proprietary CF CLI client plugin is phased out. The alternative is cf ssh (from upstream). See Accessing Services with SSH on docs.developer.swisscom.com.
On Migrate from legacy MariaDB to MariaDB Ent you have a step by step howto for cf ssh. Please adapt that for your service and port.
cf ssh proy-app -L 13000:<old-db-host>:<old-db-port>
Here on #swisscomdev there is also a posting Alternative to Swisscom CF plugin named Service Connector with MongoDB Ops Manager example.
We have an edge case for an enterprise customer that may still need a cf sc feature (not available in cf ssh). Investigation ongoing.
And did I miss communication about it?
Sorry we failed in communication.
Sorry that you notice this change in our GitHub repo first. We wished to update docs first, then communicate the EOL. We somehow forgot it in yesterdays newsletter.

Postgresql :unable to Install HTTP extension on Amazon RDS

I am trying to get response from API into Postsgresql.
For this I have installed respective HTTP extension
from
http://www.postgresonline.com/journal/archives/371-http-extension-for-windows-64-and-32-bit.html
In my local system .
Current issue is that my database server is on amazon aws. So now I want to replicate same files/modules on server.
But I'm not much aware about it.
While I have tried
create extension http
then after I tried to get to know the supported extension by using this
show rds.extensions
Then I didn't found the HTTP extension there.
SO please let me know how can I place downloaded HTTP extension file on amazon rds??
If the extension is not among the supported ones from ...
SHOW rds.extensions;
... then you are out of luck, for all I know.
In particular, the "http extension" requires to install binaries in the file system of a Windows server.
The RDS Postgres installations I know run on Red Hat Linux, not Windows. And Amazon does not allow direct access to the underlying file system - which can be a pain. We tried to install additional unaccent dictionaries, but no dice.
You could talk to their support, maybe you have more luck.

How can I install oVirt on one server?

I have one server.
And when I install ovirt I can open web interface at 10.0.0.10.
But, then I try instal host on 10.0.0.10 after that I can`t open 10.0.0.10
So, how I can instal ovirt-engine and host on one server?
Can you give me link to any tutorials?
If you're going to use a single host for both engine and run vms, the supported and suggested configuration is to use Hosted Engine.
See http://www.ovirt.org/documentation/how-to/hosted-engine/
You should follow the official quickstart guide http://www.ovirt.org/documentation/quickstart/quickstart-guide/
This definitely works for oVirt release 3.6 and Fedora 22 Server.
After you add the host in the webgui, it deploys necessary packages and configurations on the host. One of these steps configures and starts iptables. Maybe you first need to disable iptables and reconfigure it and that's the reason why your ovirt-engine isn't available after your deployment is finished. You can read the details which ports to open for iptables in the Quickstart Guide.
If you use CentOS this post maybe also helpful http://blog.mit.bme.hu/meszaros/en/node/193
oVirt Orb is what you are looking for, if you just want to try it out. "oVirt Orb lets you try out oVirt on your own laptop. You can test it and play with it, all without the need to manually install all the components or use multiple hosts or a storage server."
If you have shared storage available somewhere or don't mind setting it up, Hosted Engine (as Sandro mentioned) will give you an Engine Virtual Machine running on a single Host. (Hosted Engine requires NFS, iSCSI, etc.)

Cannot update repository Windows Azure

I'm trying Windows Azure now.
I have been following instruction from
https://www.windowsazure.com/en-us/develop/java/java-home/download-the-windows-azure-sdk-for-java/
I'm running on eclipse helios, but when i try to install new software and enter url repository :http://dl.windowsazure.com/eclipse
Eclipse always timeout,
message on message box like bellow :
Unable to connect to repository http://dl.windowsazure.com/eclipse/content.xml
Unable to connect to repository http://dl.windowsazure.com/eclipse/content.xml
Connection timed out: connect
How to solve this, i very need it to deploy my first app on Windows Azure platform
Help me to solve this, please
Now i try to runnning azure project on Cloud Azure, but why when i try to upload cspkg file and cscfg file, the process always timeout, whereas connection is running normally when i look on ping -t
this is message when i try upload on azure hosting service :
Uploading the selected package has failed, please verify your network connection and try again.
How to solve this issue ?
it's very strange error. >-<
I think there is some problem with your network connection as I have just tested the same download location and it does work perfectly fine as below:
As you can see below I am using http://dl.windowsazure.com/eclipse URL to download the Java specific Azure components:
After that once I select "Next", the following two components are listed to be installed in my machine:
Microsoft JDBC Drive 3.0 for SQL Server (This will work with SQL Azure)
Windows Azure Plugin for Eclipse with Java
I am sure that the problem is specific to your network connection so please have it corrected.
Yes, it's foolish of me, i forget to shutting down my proxy server on My compute. After i disable it,everything gonna be alright :D
Thanks
surely I haven't meet this situation before , but just for your additional information..
Have you follow this step on installing azure #eclipse? like .net version must be >= 3.5
here are some source link for your help http://www.windowsazure4e.org/download/
I haven’t worked with Windows Azure Java SDK. But the error message is complaining the file C:\Users\workspace\AzureFirst\emulatorTools\ResetEmulator.cmd cannot be found. It would be better if you can check whether the file exists. In addition, the call stack points out you’re using Windows Azure SDK 1.4. Please try to upgrade it to 1.6 to see whether it works fine. You can find SDK 1.6 on http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=28045. Please install WindowsAzureEmulator and WindowsAzureSDK. The WindowsAzureLibsForNet is not needed if you don’t want to use .NET.

Ming Xu.
