Mac OS Sierra install failure: The file couldn't be opened - macos-sierra

While trying to perform a clean installation of MacOS Sierra on a Macbook Pro 2012 (8Gb ram, 250 SSD Crucial Driver and i5 processor) through the boot install option (cmd + r) from the web (Internet install, an this is needed as I just installed the new SSD) the operation always gets stuck at 2 minutes before finishing.
Left it the whole night and in the morning saw the message in the image of this post.
Booted in the new AFP2 filesystem format for the drive as required in the Sierra version. Created the partition and erased the disk without any problem.
Seems the installer is fail fast but not very descriptive, any help would be appreciated otherwise that Mac will likely be a deluxe "cup holder" :(
Thanks a million
sierra boot install failure picture

Solved it myself in the end, for anybody stuck on this in the future.
And the only way I found out to do it is to install the OS that came with the Macbook Pro (2010 Mountain Lion in my case) and then update but from the installed system rather than the boot repair util.
Restart the Macbook and right after you hear the sound hold the option key until you see the spinning globe icon.
Input the WiFi credentials to access the repair util (this is the original util that came with your mac not the one updated that only bounds to install High Sierra OS)
Now install your default OS.
After this, inside the default OS, go to app store and download the High Sierra installer and install from there. Installation seemed to go fine.
Loads of effort but at least does the trick,
Hope it helps.

Error "This app can't run on your pc" when i run .exe from win10 Home

I am new to Unity and from my PC (MAC) i have created 3 builds of my project (1-MAC, 2-Windows x86_64, 3-WebGL)
I state that my version of Unity Hub is 2.4.2 and my Unity version is 2019.4.18f1
When i start my game on mac everything works fine (obviously starting the build for mac), later I put the x86_64 windows build in a compressed folder and then transferred it into a USB, to try the game from another pc (win 10 PRO). In this PC the same version of unity was already present.
So far, so good.
The problem starts when I take the same USB with the same files, which, as previously said on win10 pro work, I put them on a win10 home (32 bit) and when I try to start the .exe it gives me this error "This app can't run on your PC. To find a version for your PC, check with the software publisher "
Looking on the internet I tried to get around the problem they change the local settings policy, but the result is the same :(
These are the files inside my compressed folder
And these are my build settings
I thank whoever will be able to help me and I apologize for my bad English
You say your other PC is 32 bit!
That's your issue!
You are building for the Architecture
x86_64 => 64-bit CPU
It does not mean 32 or 64 bit.
To run it on a 32 bit system you have to build for x86 instead.
See Unity Manual - PC, Mac & Linux Standalone build settings

qemu-system-i386.exe has stopped working (only via CLI, works fine when starting via Android Studio AVD)

I've browsed through many topic and answers related to the emulator crashing issue. Yet, I still have no clue how to resolve this issue.
My setup:
Windows 10 x64 laptop - 16GB RAM - Intel Core i7-6820HQ CPU # 2.7Ghz
Android Studio 2.3.3
Java JDK jdk-8u141-windows-x64
HAXM installed and activated
When I open Android Studio, I can start the emulator without any issues.
(see picture here)
But when I try the same from the commandline, the emulator does not startup properly and stops. (see picture here)
I've tried:
HAXM 6.0.6 and HAMX 6.1.3
Graphics: Software GLES 2.0 (instead of auto)
RAM: lowered to 512 (instead of the default 1536) as mentioned in many posts
Try a emulator with lower resulution (like Galaxy S 800x600) as also mentioned in many posts
Use arm image to trigger arm emulator
Add MB behind certain values in the ini file
Set the width/height value to 0 in the ini file
Turn off the camera (front and back) emulation
Disable multi-core CPU (since it mentioned behind it that it's experimantal)
I tried the emulator in the tools folder and the emulator folder
What am I doing wrong here?
What else can I try?
Did I forget a combination of the above mentioned items?
My end goal:
I want to make this emulator part of my CI cycle and for that I need to run a command line (or powershell) script on a Hyper-V machine (in Azure), to start this emulator, so I can hook it up to my selenium-grid (via Appium).
I had the same problem, I fix it by updating my windows (windows 10) to the latest version (windows 10 version 1903 build 18362) and take the optional update (KB4512508)
in the windows update setting..
I'm using:
- Windows 10 Enterprise.
- AMD A10-4600M APU withe Radeon HD graphics.
- ram 512.
Try this solution it worked for me.

How do I use MAMP standard on a Mac?

I have tried this 3 or 4 times, but it seems like the only version is MAMP pro, every time I install the .pkg file, it installs MAMP pro, the MAMP standard and pro version seems (according to the docs) to be bundled together with the pro version. The docs say the standard version will work after the demo pro expires but all it does it lock down the entire app.
"This download package for Mac OS X contains the free MAMP and a free 14-day trial of MAMP PRO. MAMP can be used stand-alone without MAMP PRO."
^ Does this "stand-alone" even exist?
I selected customize, and I un-checked the Pro version but it does not do this. Every time I launch the app I have a demo expired error.
MAMP.app (the thing you need) is buried inside of the MAMP/ folder (unlike the pro version) so if you are good at where's waldo, then you won't have any trouble since its in a folder with dozens of other things that all render the same looking on Mac. PC users probably don't have this issue.

Eclipse (STS) reverts to being a fresh instal every time I open it on my Mac

I have started using mac recently. I downloaded STS and started coding in it. I installed few plugins I needed to work. After a days work I shut down and started it the next day and all off a sudden it again asked for workspace location even if I checked the default location do not ask again checkbox the last time and again I selected the workspace location and checked the checkbox again and now the plugins I installed the previous day are not there I had to install them all over again and it's the same everyday. Can anyone help we with this?
This is a known issue on Mac Os Sierra. I'm not a Mac user myself and not too familiar with the details, but it has something to do with a security feature of Mac OS which is trying to 'sandbox' apps by randomizing thier startup location. This makes STS / Eclipse think its a fresh install and unable to locate any settings / state saved from before.
You can find more info in the STS New and Noteworthy under "Known Issues".
Perhaps these are the most important snippets of information:
If you unpackage the STS archive on macOS Sierra and use it without moving it to a different location on your drive, macOS Sierra Gatekeeper activates a security feature called "Path Randomization" for the app
...
As a workaround, please move the STS.app bundle to a different location on your drive before starting it.

Mindstorms: Installation of NXT2.0f3 patch for Mac OS X Lion 10.7.3

Looking for installation help with NXT2.0f3 patch for mindstorms NXT 2.0 software on iMac w/ Lion 10.7.3. Base software installation from CD works fine (with some minor glitches once the NXT software is running that I can live with for now); however, applying the NXT2.0f3 patch (so-called Mac software fix downloaded from Lego) prevents NXT application startup. On application startup, I get an alert box with
"Error Code: 1003" stating that a required file is broken. The program then quits. No useful information (like a filename) there.
Mindstorms phone support wasn't helpful. Did reinstalls five times with different combinations of 32-bit and 64-bit mode OSX. Also tried installing driver package from CD to repair installation (after patch was applied), but no luck.
Has anyone got this working, or run into the same problem and have a solution?
