Eclipse (STS) reverts to being a fresh instal every time I open it on my Mac - eclipse

I have started using mac recently. I downloaded STS and started coding in it. I installed few plugins I needed to work. After a days work I shut down and started it the next day and all off a sudden it again asked for workspace location even if I checked the default location do not ask again checkbox the last time and again I selected the workspace location and checked the checkbox again and now the plugins I installed the previous day are not there I had to install them all over again and it's the same everyday. Can anyone help we with this?

This is a known issue on Mac Os Sierra. I'm not a Mac user myself and not too familiar with the details, but it has something to do with a security feature of Mac OS which is trying to 'sandbox' apps by randomizing thier startup location. This makes STS / Eclipse think its a fresh install and unable to locate any settings / state saved from before.
You can find more info in the STS New and Noteworthy under "Known Issues".
Perhaps these are the most important snippets of information:
If you unpackage the STS archive on macOS Sierra and use it without moving it to a different location on your drive, macOS Sierra Gatekeeper activates a security feature called "Path Randomization" for the app
...
As a workaround, please move the STS.app bundle to a different location on your drive before starting it.

Error installing Codename One plugin on Eclipse

I started developing in Codename One a few days ago, using IntelliJ, but since it was causing some problems, I decided to try it with Eclipse.
I got a fresh install of Eclipse Proton for Java developers on my Mac Pro running OS Sierra 10.12.6 and I can't install the Codename One plugin.
I can find it in the marketplace, but when I try to install it starts the process but soon stops and pops this message. After I press ok, I can select features to install as seen here. After I press Confirm it does nothing, and presents this. I have already installed other plugins successfully, this is the only one giving me troubles.
I tried accessing that link but it leads to a standard 404 error page on codenameone's website.
I can't seem to find a way around this, as even trying to install the plugin through Eclipse marketplace website leads to this error.
Any help is appreciated :)

working with samsung smart tv sdk 4.1 for Mac

i have stupid question)
im install 2013_Samsung_TV_SDK_4_1_MacOS.pkg and download 2013_Smart_TV_Emulator_4_1_VB.zip and setup .ova file for virtual box.
so i thought finally all is DONE. but not.
when im check in directory cd ~/Samsung_TV_SDK_4_Mac/ icon 'Samsung Smart TV SDK Editor' for launch editor i have this
==The alias “Samsung Smart TV SDK Editor ” can’t be opened because the original item can’t be found.==
so before i must insall ECLIPSE ?
because when i get info of icon = i seen the path of original ==/Users/SDK/SDK_INSTALL/build_tree/Samsung Smart TV SDK 4/eclipse/Eclipse.app==
i have not ECLIPSE IDE and i need install eclipse now ? and after egain install 2013_Samsung_TV_SDK_4_1_MacOS.pkg ?
if its true . which kind of ECLIPSE type ? indigo? juno? which version ? (i use MAC v 10.7.5)
so! my update! for everyone who need smart tv sdk for MAC . 8 steps
download eclipse-javascript-indigo-SR2 for macosx (example eclipse-javascript-indigo-SR2-macosx-cocoa.tar.gz)
download and install 2013_Samsung_TV_SDK_4_1_MacOS.pkg (go to link https://www.samsungdforum.com/Devtools/Sdkdownload)
move all files 'eclipse' folder (from archive eclipse-javascript-indigo-SR2-macosx-cocoa.tar.gz) to directory where your smart tv sdk (example ~/Samsung_TV_SDK_4_Mac/eclipse/)
install virtual box and setup 2013_Smart_TV_Emulator_4_1 (2013_Smart_TV_Emulator.ovf file) - instruction here http://www.samsungdforum.com/Guide/d10/index.html#install-the-smart-tv-emulator-in-virtual-box
launch Samsung Smart TV SDK Editor (i have icon-launcher here ~/Samsung_TV_SDK_4_Mac/)
setup work environment (all Apps must be here ~/Samsung_TV_SDK_4_Mac/Apps)
create project and if you need -> import file-application form other store (if someone already developed an app and you need to open that app)
launch virtual box -> launch smart tv emulator -> open App and choose your project
The accepted answer didn't work for me when getting the IDE up and running on OSX 10.8.4, but this did:
Install 2013_Samsung_TV_SDK_4_1_MacOS.pkg
It will install files to your User Directory
Download this version of Eclipse: http://www.mirrorservice.org/sites/download.eclipse.org/eclipseMirror/technology/epp/downloads/release/indigo/SR2/eclipse-javascript-indigo-SR2-macosx-cocoa-x86_64.tar.gz
Copy the Eclipse.app from the above download into ~/Samsung_TV_SDK_4_Mac/eclipse/ directory...
Tried the above steps but didn't get it to work. So I experimented a bit. Here's my two cents:
Make sure that the eclipse you download is the appropriate version for your Mac (that is 32bit or 64bit). If you get a strange error mentioning that it's not able to load SWT components, then it's likely you downloaded the wrong version.
I tried both copying all eclipse files from ~/Downloads/eclipse to ~/Samsung_TV_SDK_4_Mac/eclipse, and only Eclipse.app to ~/Samsung_TV_SDK_4_Mac/eclipse/. However it worked when I merged all files EXCEPT directory configuration and artifacts.xml from ~/Downloads/eclipse to ~/Samsung_TV_SDK_4_Mac/eclipse/. Make sure that you don't delete and write directories plugins/ and features/, as the Samsung SDK version contains the eclipse plugins.
Hope I helped!

Windows Phone SDK 7.1 Emulator Complete Re-boot Error

I thank you all for reading this lengthy question. It's really important and I will appreciate it if you can assist me :)
The problem -------
I am have been using the Windows 7.1 SDK for about two months now. The emulator has worked without any problem so far. However, today, it began displaying this error (The saved state (Name of File).dess is corrupt. Please delete the corrupted saved state file and then retry). I had not made any significant changes to my project code, or moved any files. I had just added some Visual State animations for a button.
As it suggested, I went ahead to delete the file. I then started debugging again. However, the emulator now opened and displayed the message (Windows Phone Emulator is doing a complete OS reboot). This message was displayed for a very long time. I closed the emulator and project. Since then, I have been unable to use the emulator. I am able to code normally in Visual Studio, but I cannot test my application.
What I have tried ------
I read up on this issue and found many others who faced the same emulator issue. Following their suggestions, I have run one repair of the Windows Phone SDK 7.1. I have also tried uninstalling and then re-installing the SDK 7.1 once.
System Specifications -----
I am using Visual Studio Express 2010 for Windows Phone (Windows 7 64 bit)
I have downloaded the Windows Phone SDK 7.1 from this link: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=258412
I have read that this issue might be because of some hardware incompatibility. However, I think my machine is compatible with the emulator. Here is some information.
DirectX Version: DirectX 11
8GB RAM
Driver Model: WDM 1.1
Additional Information:
I have read that installing the 'January Update' might fix this issue. I tried downloading the update from this link: http://www.microsoft.com/enus/download/details.aspx?id=23854
However, the installer said that the update is not compatible with the product/version of the product I am using.
Usually the Repair function of the WP7.1 SDK is enough to fix all the issues. It runs the generation of the saved state of the emulator again.
Please try to delete files in %ProgramData%\Microsoft\XDE folder first (make sure you backup them somewhere else.), then run the emulator. If the emulator runs with a message "Windows Phone Emulator is doing a complete OS boot," let it boot. It takes some time though. This way you will know that the emulator actually can run on your computer. This won't generate a new saved state image, but the emulator should at least load.
Next, try installing WP7.1.1 SDK update from http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=29233. This update also installs additional 256MB emulator image besides the original 512MB image. It also generates emulator's saved states in the process, potentially fixing the issue.
If everything fails, then try these instructions to fix the saved state of the emulator:
Uninstall WP7.1 SDK
Manually delete these folders:
%ProgramData%\Microsoft\XDE
%LocalAppData%\Microsoft\XDE
Install WP7.1 SDK again.
Install WP7.1.1 SDK update: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=29233.
Edit:
Btw, have you tried to reboot your computer? Once this fixed the issue for me.
Alright, I managed to solve this problem.
I reinstalled Windows and downloaded the SDK 7.1 again. The emulator works fine now!
#Paulos, thanks for helping!
I had the same problem for a long time. Try this:
Start up Visual Studio 2010, but before you start debugging, click on the tabs of all the open pages so that all the xaml pages and code behind pages can load.
I noticed it when I opened Visual Studio, but the first open page was a code behind page and not an xaml page, so when I first clicked on the tab of a xaml page, of course, it took some time to load the xaml page into the editor. However, when that and one or more open xaml pages were also loaded, the emulator started without the error message.

ADT Plugin Directory Location for SDK - (MotoDev)

Right now I am setting up Motodev.
Its a Android Development Suite built on Eclipse, created by Motorola.
What is needed is the Android SDK. Check, got that, newest version, everything is set with that.
Now it says I need the ADT Eclipse plugin. Version 20.0.1, currently mine is v18.
I know where to get it, I can easily get it, but I am curious, where should it be installed? Currently I dont have eclipse I am just using MotoDev. But since Motodev asks where the SDK location is, and says my ADT plugin is out of date, I am assuming I have to install the ADT in the SDK directory. But is there somewhere more specific to put it? In a specific folder? or just in the top level of the SDK directory?
Thanks for your time.
Unfortunately, you can't use ADT20 with MOTODEV Studio 4.0. The plugins had some API changes between 18 and 20 that made them incompatible with each other. You will need to roll your SDK back to 19 until we can release a newer version. I wrote about this about a week ago on the MOTODEV Studio blog.
We're done with the engineering work on the new version. It's just a matter of getting the push to the web server scheduled. I expect it to be ready by late next week or early the following week.
Until then, if you need to use ADT20 for Jellybean development, use Eclipse for Mobile Developers plus the MOTODEV Core Plugins (using Help>Eclipse Marketplace). Most of the functionality of the installed product is there, but without the dependency on ADT. See the blog for details on how to set that up.

Eclipse Segfault (OSX)

I'm trying to start eclipse but it crashes after the splash screen and before workspace selection.
This is version: eclipse-java-indigo-SR2-macosx-cocoa-x86_64 on Mac OSX 10.6.8
Launching the eclipse application or executing the alias from a shell ./eclipse (or Eclipse.app/Contents/MacOS/eclipse) results in a segfault.
$ ./eclipse
Invalid memory access of location 0x10 rip=0x7fff84ea3164
Segmentation fault
However, it runs successfully as the super user
$ sudo ./eclipse
Password:
This is fine for now, but running eclipse under sudo does not seem like a good idea.
To make this stranger still, this installation of eclipse worked fine a few months ago and I can't remember changing anything relevant.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Before taking the more drastic step of re-installing Java on Mac OS X [not always so simple :( .. ], I just reinstalled Eclipse and ADT - and it worked fine after that.
In my case, I got this error trying to start Eclipse
Segmentation fault: 11
.. it appeared in my Eclipse ADT setup after I updated the Android SDK for Google Play Services, and then tried to run Installation of update from "Check For Updates". Restarting the computer did not help.
I would try re-installing Java. The Apple installer might thwart you, but this can help get past it.
I'd suggest getting the Java Developer package from Apple, as it includes Javadoc and source for the core libraries.
