I tried to implement an audit log as defined in the following URL : https://eager.io/blog/audit-postgres/.
When I tried to run the FUNCTION audit.if_modified_func(), the function is not executed and an error appears.
It says ERROR:
type "hstore" is only a shell. LINE 6: h_old hstore;
How to resolve the issue?

I am using SSIS to create a data flow task to a postgresql server database.
I get the Error with SQL query:
The query failed to parse. Exception from HResult: 0x80040E14
See below screenshot:
https://ibb.co/7KcBnMG
https://ibb.co/zR093SQ
The query being tried is:
INSERT INTO public.controlflow_example(rollnumber) VALUES (1)
The connection itself is fine. The schema is public, the table is indeed spelled controlflow_example, and the column is integer type named rollnumber
Even using
SELECT *
FROM public.controlflow_example
as an even simpler query gives the same error.
If i try to run the package it fails with the following error:
SSIS package "C:\Users\AJ\Documents\Visual Studio 2017\Projects\control_flow_example\control_flow_example\Package.dtsx" starting.
Error: 0xC002F210 at Execute SQL Task, Execute SQL Task: Executing the query "INSERT INTO public.controlflow_example(rollnumber)..." failed with the following error: "Exception from HRESULT: 0x80040E14". Possible failure reasons: Problems with the query, "ResultSet" property not set correctly, parameters not set correctly, or connection not established correctly.
Task failed: Execute SQL Task
Warning: 0x80019002 at Package: SSIS Warning Code DTS_W_MAXIMUMERRORCOUNTREACHED. The Execution method succeeded, but the number of errors raised (1) reached the maximum allowed (1); resulting in failure. This occurs when the number of errors reaches the number specified in MaximumErrorCount. Change the MaximumErrorCount or fix the errors.
SSIS package "C:\Users\AJ\Documents\Visual Studio 2017\Projects\control_flow_example\control_flow_example\Package.dtsx" finished: Failure.
The program '[15288] DtsDebugHost.exe: DTS' has exited with code 0 (0x0).
Any advice please?
I have already searched for similar questions here and elsewhere but could not find a resolution.
Thank you.
Maybe you should change the function name and use private it works properly.
INSERT INTO public.controlflow_example column name VALUES ('1');
Are you trying to store the result set into an SSIS object? The result error means you did not set up the result properly. If you are not expecting any results back, then set result set to be nothing. If you are, then check to make sure you’re returning the results correctly.
Check out how to return results https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.red-gate.com/simple-talk/sql/ssis/ssis-basics-using-the-execute-sql-task-to-generate-result-sets/amp/
Good Luck
I am trying to import a .sql database dump into my postgres 9.6.1. I've tried in command line as well as the Postico GUI but get a ton of errors (like thousands of lines of errors) on import.
The SQL dump is from a coworker running postgres 9.4.5 and the SQL looks valid.
My Postgres Version:
PostgreSQL 9.6.1 on x86_64-apple-darwin, compiled by
i686-apple-darwin11-llvm-gcc-4.2 (GCC) 4.2.1 (Based on Apple Inc.
build 5658) (LLVM build 2336.11.00), 64-bit
I've tried the following imports:
psql -U postgres dbname < ~/Desktop/dbname_local_db_20161122.sql
Then logging in and trying it:
psql -U postgres dbname
dbname=# \i ~/Desktop/dbname_local_db_20161122.sql
Errors: (there are way more than this)

Like I said, the SQL file looks valid. I've checked for compatibility issues from 9.4.5 to 9.6.1 but don't see any.
I do see PERMISSION DENIED but I am running the command as user postgres which has super user permissions:
First, the recommended way is to use pg_dump from the higher (target) database version to create the dump, because that version of pg_dump knows about incompatible changes that happened since and can create a dump that will restore correctly.
Some of the errors are normal if you restore a dump into a database that already has objects with the same names in it; often that is a sign that the dump should actually have been created with pg_dump -C to include a CREATE DATABASE statement.
However, your SQL script seems seriously messed up, and I doubt that it is an unmodified dump of a 9.4.5 database.
pg_dump will never dump any objects in pg_catalog. This schema can only contain system objects which are not included in a dump (they are created by CREATE DATABASE), and as you have seen, not even a superuser may create an object in that schema (unless allow_system_table_mods is on, which it really shouldn't be).
I'm trying to setup BigInsights Federation to Netezza following this guideline.
But when I execute command create wrapper, I got an error:
[C2-BIGDATA-BIGINS-MGTNODE.VMS2.COM.VN][bigsql] 1> create wrapper nz library 'libdb2rcodbc.so' OPTIONS(MODULE '/opt/ibm/SDAP71/lib/libodbc.so');
SQL Exception(s) Encountered:
[State: 58004][Code: 15]: BIGSQL-GEN-0010 Found an internal error: 'Failed to execute query 'create wrapper nz library 'libdb2rcodbc.so' OPTIONS(MODULE '/opt/ibm/SDAP71/lib/libodbc.so')': line 1:8: unexpected token: wrapper'.
Do you know where is an error come from?
How can I check federation server is enable?
I'm using Mulestudio and am trying to insert into the Postgres database some data. I am modifying the log4j.properties file and below is how it looks like:
log4j.rootLogger = DEBUG, postgres
#
log4j.appender.postgres=org.apache.log4j.jdbc.JDBCAppender
log4j.appender.postgres.layout=org.apache.log4j.PatternLayout
log4j.appender.postgres.driver=org.postgresql.Driver
log4j.appender.postgres.URL=jdbc:postgresql://127.0.0.1:5432/testing
log4j.appender.postgres.user=postgres
log4j.appender.postgres.password=pw
log4j.appender.postgres.sql=INSERT INTO LOGS VALUES ('%x', '%d{yyyy-MM-dd}','%C','%p','%m');
The error message that I get is
log4j:ERROR Failed to excute sql
org.postgresql.util.PSQLException: ERROR: syntax error at or near "edu"
'edu' is the first part of my project name (edu-stream-ucdnews). The instance of 'edu' only comes up in the title name and not in my data. I know that the error arises when I have the '%m' when I try to insert the data because when I change it to a hard-coded message like 'Hello', I don't get any error.
How do I solve this issue?
Are you sure your are connected to the database?
Try putting the fields name in your sql and lets check if we get a better error log:
log4j.appender.postgres.sql=INSERT INTO LOGS (field1, field2, ...) VALUES ('%x', '%d{yyyy-MM-dd}','%C','%p','%m');
After the sub of the exec JCL, i've got the following error :
SQLCODE = -991
Error = ALL ATTACH WAS UNABLE TO ESTABLISH AN IMPLICIT CONNECT OR OPEN TO DB2
This error is triggered when i call a module that allows to query a table.
PS : i have the necessary privileges for the table.
Thanks.
From IBM's page:
-991 CALL ATTACH WAS UNABLE TO ESTABLISH AN IMPLICIT CONNECT OR OPEN TO DB2. RC1= rc1 RC2= rc2

It is possible you are not running on the same LPAR as DB2 and you don't have sharing enabled.
Ensure you included DSNALI in your program bind (aka link) step, and that you're running on the correct LPAR.
