Good Afternoon,
We are trying to set up our PayPal Express checkout to process PayPal payments by only authorizing the payments, giving us the option to then be able to either capture or void the payment from within our PayPal account. Have tried changing PAYMENTREQUEST_0_PAYMENTACTION=Authorization, but this doesn't seem to be working. This code only allows the sale/payment to be taken straight away. Any help or suggestions, would be very much appreciated. Here's a link to the original code before we have applied any modifications:
https://github.com/wp-e-commerce/WP-e-Commerce/blob/branch-3.15.1/wpsc-merchants/paypal-express.merchant.php
Kind Regards,
Andy
In order to do payments of type Authorization you need to:
Have "Authorization" set or evaluated from plugin settings everywhere (including line 688 in the DoExpressCheckoutPayment)
Have your User/PWD/Signature credentials set, using the information from your PayPal account in https://www.paypal.com/api . Uncredentialed API calls can process Sales, but not Authorizations.
If at all possible you really should configure "Authorization" within the plugin's settings, and not by changing any code.

breaking our heads over how to get autoreturn to work in sandbox.
We have enabled the auto return feature in the sandbox account
associated with the APP we use:
2. We have entered the return URL in developer.paypal.com in the APPs settings:
3. And still. We are not returned back to our URL provided:
note also that we have waited several hours between changing something and testing it as instructed. Any help highly appreciated.
Try turning Payment Data Transfer on in Sandbox account (next section down in Website Payment Preferences).
answer found. according to paypal support auto-return does not work with the paypal invoicing API, which we use, just express checkout etc.
Is it possible to use Paypal express checkout without signing in even if the user has a Paypal account present?
We have noticed that some folks forget their credentials and don't want to login to Paypal, thus causing us to lose their donation. The Account optional setting seems to still require users, who have a Paypal account linked to the provided email, to sign in even if they would like to pay from the checkout page.
Is there a way to avoid this?
Thanks!
Paypal provide optional guest checkout. https://www.paypal.com/webapps/mpp/express-checkout#overview
Guest Checkout would allow people to use a credit card without signing in or creating an account, but the checkout would still take place in PayPal hosted pages.
If you'd like to process credit cards directly on your site you could use Payments Pro, the REST API, or Braintree. The difference is really just the technical details in integrating it, so your developer could choose which method would work best for your setup, and then you could create that account and integrate it accordingly.
If you're already using and are familiar with PayPal in general I would recommend going with Payments Pro. It typically costs $30/mo, but if you contact me directly I can help you to get that fee waived.
You would also need to make sure your site has an SSL installed and can run from https:// correctly.
Once those things are in place it's just a matter of integrating Payments Pro into your current setup, which depending on what that is, there are a number of different ways that could be done. I would need more detail to be able to help you more specifically with integration.
Hi I have searched for this solution and although others have experienced the same problem I couldn't find a solution that works for my site.
My wordpress site mainly sells registrations/bookings for events and I'm using the s2Memberplugin to process the payments with Paypal. The problem is that when we direct the users/customers to the paypal page to complete the transaction which i want set up with the option of paying via credit/debit card if the user/customer doesn’t have (or doesn’t want to create one) a paypal account. That has been working perfectly except for when users/customers are using a variety of internet browser with various cookie settings so the user/customer get’s directed to a completely different page both in appearance and functionality from the page I want them to see. This incorrect page ‘requires’ users/customers to have or create a paypal account to make the payment, no option to pay via card is available. I tried calling paypal and of course they say it is something wrong with my site.
Over 20 days ago i lodged a support ticket with Paypal MTS (or whatever they are called) and of course no response. I have lodged about 5 more tickets and made about 10 more phone calls and they simply don't care about customers. That is clearly demonstrated when you ask to speak to the complaints section and they say "We don't have a complaints section'
Thanks very much, any assistance is greatly appreciated
I haven't been provided with any error codes, unfortunately - i did ask for them but nobody supplied them.
we just discovered that the payflow and IPN settings within my sites plugin were empty but i'm filling them in now but i have two questions:
The vendor, is that just my username for my paypal account? (why don't they just use the same terminology - confusing)
My s2Member plugin say's i'll need my IPN url (and then supplies a url, but whn i look at the IPN notification url within my paypal settings it's a totally different link. Should i be changing my paypal IPN url to that which is supplied by my s2Member plugin or am i getting two different url's confused?
Thanks for your help again mate.
If you're using Payments Standard this experience is cookie based as you mentioned. If you want to make sure the full credit card form shows up and allows people to pay with a credit card without creating an account you can use the Express Checkout API instead.
In your SetExpressCheckout request you just need to set SOLUTION=Sole and LANDINGPAGE=Billing.
I have seen this done before so I know it's possible - when you redirect to a PayPal checkout from your site, paypal presents you with 2 options to make a payment. One is "Login with PayPal Account" and the other one is something like "Don't have a PayPal account? Pay with Credit/Debit Card". By default the second option is collapsed, but I've seen sites where it's uncollapsed by default. How can I achieve this effect?
NB - previous posts suggested that it's done by cookies, and if PayPal detects that you have a PayPal account it will display the first option (login with PayPal). However I've seen other sites that display the 'Credit/Debit' card option uncollapsed even if you've got a paypal account. Do they clear the cookies somehow before redirecting you to PayPal?
Thanks
just add :)
<input type="hidden" name="landing_page" value="billing">
You are redirected to billing page...
You can not set the credit card option to show by default if you are using Website Payments Standard. This is set by cookies. However, if you are using Express Checkout you can set the credit card section to show by default. This is most likely what you have seen on other sites. If you are using Express Checkout, and want to set this all you need to do is passing over the following 2 variables and values in your SetExpressCheckout API call.
SOLUTIONTYPE=Sole
LANDINGPAGE=Billing
You also need to make sure you have PayPal account optional turned on in your PayPal account. This is section is found in your profile.
A little bit late with this one but i recently had the same issue using Express Checkout JS
Managed to resolve this by adding the following to the js object
experience: {
flow_config: {
landing_page_type: "billing",
}
}
I came across from various sites regarding the same ask while I have workaround to achieve this for the time being. :) But your finding resolved my issue, that's cookies cause after I have my workaround applied.
The workaround to default the Paypal payment to Credit/Debit card option is to add the variables on your button such as country=COUNTRY_VALUE or any other variables you would think customer is fine to have it defaulted. Variables page https://developer.paypal.com/webapps/developer/docs/classic/paypal-payments-standard/integration-guide/Appx_websitestandard_htmlvariables/#id08A6HI0J0VU
Hope it helps you. :)
To begin: I am trying to setup Zencart with Paypal. I have followed all of Paypal and Zencart's instructions:
Putting in Paypal's API username, password and signature code into Zencart's Payment Module section. Checked the "live" environment.
I then tried buying a product on the website and got the following error message:
Zen Cart message: We are sorry for the inconvenience. The PayPal account
authentication settings are not yet set up, or the API security information
is incorrect.
10002
Security error
Security header is not valid
I have tried looking up the answer but everything I see says to make sure the environment is not in sandbox and that everything is typed in correctly. I have tripled checked and the API is typed in correctly and it is set to live.... what else can I do?
Moving on, I have tried to setup the sandbox but am unfamiliar with how to use Paypal's sandbox. So I reconfigured Zencart to "sandbox mode" with the appropriate sandbox API and I set up box a sandbox account for a merchant and private buyer but I don't know how to use them. Should I go back to the Zencart store and register with my new "Paypal sandbox private buyer email"? And will checking out using this email they gave me work as just a test... I don't want to go through with the checkout if I'm going to get billed...
Thank you for any help:)
The best place to get support on Zen Cart issues is directly on the Zen Cart support forum at http://www.zen-cart.com/forum.php
Further, an existing article already explains the basics of the problem you describe: http://www.zen-cart.com/content.php?277-the-paypal-account-in-this-store-is-presently-misconfigured-to-use-mixed-sandbox-and-live-settings-we-are-unable-to-complete-your-transaction-please-notify-the-store-owner-so-they-can-correct-this-problem-10002
It is absolutely critical that the THREE parts of your API settings (username, password, signature) be copied EXACTLY from PayPal's site into your store's admin settings screen.
There's no need to use sandbox unless you're a programmer writing new features for payment processing. So be sure to check the "Live" radio-button. (I realize you already mentioned that. Just adding this for clarity.)
You can also get more details on exactly what is coming back from PayPal by turning on debug logging in the module's settings.
PayPal tech support is available at www.paypal.com/mts - they can look at your actual transmissions and at your account, and sort out a problem if there's something wrong with the API signature details.
