Is it possible to install my app on a real device iPhone with iOS 12.5.5 with Xcode 13.3 running on a M1 Mac? - iphone

Unfortunately I'm not able to download an iOS 12.x simulator on my new Mac with M1 chip. But I need a debug device with iOS<13.0. So does it make sense to buy an old iPhone (e.g. 6s) with iOS 12.5.5?

Testing on a physical device

I am having a problem with XCode and the ability to test an app on a physical device. I am running XCode v. 4.5.2 and my iPhone is OS 6.1. When I try to test on the physical device I get the following error:
"No provisioned iOS devices are available with a compatible iOS version. Connect an iOS device with a recent enough version of iOS to run your application or choose an iOS simulator as the destination."
The deployment target for the app is 6.0. I don't know what else to check. Can anybody offer advice?
Thx!
You need to upgrade to Xcode 4.6, which supports iOS 6.1 and above

I have profiles for my device for this app... where should I be looking to correct this? I am using XCode 6.0 while version of my iPhone is 6.0.1, may i need to update my Mac SDK to 6.0.1?

Provisioning iPhone on Snow Leopard, XCode 4 and iOS5.1

I'm new to the whole iOS development thing but I have completed my first app and now wish to deploy to my iPhone for final testing round.
However, I have a yellow dot next to my device and the message tells me that iOS 5.1 is not supported and that I need to get the latest SDK's.
I have done that but still the error persists insisting that the highest iOS i can test is 5.0.
I'm not going to go back to 5.0 on my iPhone as that would just be stupid.
I have the latest updates for Snow Leopard, latest updates for xCode 4.
Anyone know what I need to do for me to be able to use my iPhone?
Xcode 4 max supported iOS is 5.0, as your phone is iOS 5.1 it is not possible to install your app directly with Xcode. You have two solutions:
1/ Either you install Xcode 4.3.2 (iOS 5.1), but you need to install Mac OS X Lion (10.7)
2/ Or create an adhoc version of your app (it is explained on Apple web site), and use this software to install your app on your phone : http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1465?viewlocale=fr_FR&locale=fr_FR

Does an app that made with ios sdk 4 install on device with os 4.2?

Does an app that made with ios sdk 4 install on device with os 4.2 ?
I made an app with ios sdk 4.0.1 but now i want to install it from xcode on ipod touch with os 4.2 but says No provisioned iPhone OS device is connected.
Yes. You can run Applications for previous versions of iOS on a device with iOS 4.2.
The other way around might not be true: you may not be able to run applications compiled specifically for iOS 4.2 on devices with previous versions of iOS.
Keep in mind that with iOS 4.2 SDK you CAN create applications for devices running lower version of iOS also. It depends on how you configure your project on info.plist and the APIs you use in your application.
Yes. There might be few cases of incompatibility, but they are very rare.
Edit: And in most cases, apps build against 4.2 will run on 4.0 just fine, if they use the new stuff wisely.
In almost all circumstances your app should run. It's very unlikely for it to produce any errors.

Developing for an ipod touch 4g

I am a software engineering student and i signed up for an embedded apple development class
I have Mac OS X Leopard 10.5.3 and i have an ipod touch 4g
I understand that the 4g runs ios sdk 4.1 and i am aware to use certain features i would need that sdk. In addition, i would need atleast Mac OS X Leopard 10.6.2 to use ios sdk 4.1
At this time i cannot upgrade the OS.
Can i still download an older IOS sdk, and develop for the ipod touch 4g?
what would be the latest sdk i could use? I just need something to get me through the class!
Thank you
You might be able to create an Ad Hoc distribution build using the old 3.1.3 SDK for Leopard, and then install the app on a 4th gen iPod Touch using the latest iTunes plus your Ad Hoc provision profile.
the latest sdk that runs with leopard would be 3.1.3. If you install that one (http://developer.apple.com/ios/download.action?path=/iphone/iphone_sdk_3.1.3__final/iphone_sdk_3.1.3_with_xcode_3.1.4__leopard__9m2809a.dmg) you probably run into problems when installing the app on the phone because the old organizer does not work with newer devices. Since the 4g ipod may not be downgraded either, you're only (free, besides upgrading to snow leopard) option would be to compile the app, then ask a friend with snow leopard to install it on your ipod. Maybe your university will offer some macs to use for that, since not everyone has a mac?
