Merge Fields in Crystal for Chart - crystal-reports

Anyone know if there is a way to merge several fields (they have the same possible values) in Crystal so they can be used together in a chart?
For example: Field1, Field2 and Field3 all have values of only a 1 or 2. I want to merge all the values from these 3 fields together to show a total of how many 1s there are vs 2s combined.
Any ideas?

Use a formula and chart on that. You can do whatever operations you want in the formula.

How to filter one source by clicking and filtering a bar chart from another source in Tableau?

I used an Apriori algorithm to view the frequent relationships in the dataset and I want to do a dashboard to better visualize this data but I don't know how to do this filter.
This is the bar chart that I created to show the support (amount of times something happend) and the confidence (probability of B happening given A) of these associations:
Apriori Chart
Next to it on the dashboard, I'll have a table with the full dataset used in this Apriori analysis where I have more information such as ID, Income, Hours Worked, etc:
Table from different data source
How can I create this relationship? The two data sources don't have a column in common that I can use for that.
I would need some way to:
Split the values in the antecedents columns by comma and filter only those columns with value equal to 1 in the other dataset
**Dataset A**
'Age Range <=30, Joblevel 1, Maritalstatus Single'
->
'Age Range <=30'
'Joblevel 1'
'Maritalstatus Single'
**Dataset B**
'Age Range <=30' == 1
'Joblevel 1' == 1
'Maritalstatus Single' == 1
Clicking this would filter the table next to it
Is there any way I can do this in Tableau?
You can download the tbwx i used in this example here https://community.tableau.com/servlet/JiveServlet/download/1083124-384949/Apriori.twbx
Thanks in advance for the help!
I am not able to check your twbx on the machine I'm using but I think you should be able to do this. The fields in the 2 data sources need to match so manipulate the data sources the make this happen.
For data source 1 there's a function SPLIT which will mean you are able to split the comma separated string to 3 fields.
Putting those 3 fields to the Detail shelf of your bar chart (or even Rows and hiding the header) will mean you can use them in an action filter.
Your second data source is a cross tab - post pivot. You should be able to pivot this data source. Highlight the measures and pivot them. This will give you the field Pivot Field Names and Pivot Field Values.
You only want to keep those with a value of 1 so create a calculated field
[Lookup1]: IF [Pivot Field Values] = 1 THEN [Pivot Field Names] END
Duplicate this field twice so you have Lookup1, Lookup2 and Lookup 3.
Then you should be able to action filter the table.
In the action filter set it up so SplitField1 = Lookup1, SplitField2 = Lookup2, etc.
Fingers crossed this works, I haven't been able to test so I am pulling it out of my head.

Crystal report Cross-Tab order by another column

I've made a crosstab in crystal report like below:
However, as you can see, the ordering is weirld (i.e. the correct one should be like below:)
And the ordering is stored in another field called order, I took a look in the crystal report's cross-tab expert sorting option, it doesn't allow me to order by another column, it only allows me to sort either ascending or descending, how can I set the ordering by another column?
Crosstab's sorting is based on the rows order, if you want to sort it in your on you have to add some extra rows and have to suppress subtotal and Label in Customize Style of Crosstab Expert
Example:
If you have 3 rows(A,B,C) to display and you have to sort it in order like B,C,A then you have to add 2 new rows(B,C) now your Crosstab looks like (B,C,A,B,C) now you have to suppress Rows B and C you meet your both requirements for sorting and display order
But This solution have some limitations like
if you want to export the report in Excel then it will add extra cells in grand total.
otherwise you are good to go.
Example:
If you have 3 rows(A,B,C) to display and you added one row and you suppress it to solve your sorting issue then in Excel its grand total looks like
A B C
a 1 3
b 2 2
---------------------------
Total: 3 5
Yes, you can not sort on another column. You must use any of one column as a header.
In Crystal report, sorting happened based on header column's value (That's why you see as per alphabetic).
I also face this issue and how I solved, that I am explain. You have to use a formula which have order, but either hide it or use a value like in this link.

Second option as per this link. (I think first you check this)

https://scn.sap.com/thread/1172741
open crosstab expert, highlight the column that you want to reorder, go to Group Options and select in specified order. This will open another tab where you will have your available values listed there. Using the arrows on the right side you can move up or down your values and accommodate them in the order you want them to be displayed.
Simple way would be take order column from stored procedure to cross tab and set the order according to that column.
Then supress the order column and reduce the width of that column to minimum pixel so that it doesn't appear in cross tab.
Make the field you want to sort by a group field and hide it. To hide it, in the Crosstab Expert > Customize Style dialog select this group then use the Group Options area to Suppress Subtotal and Supress Label. Worked for me.
Use the order field as the grouping column and change the label for said column to show the actual sizes. The labels can be changed in Crosstab Expert, Grouping Options and then the tab Options.

Cognos Crosstab Report Calculated Column Totalling Incorrectly

I have a report in Cognos 10.1.1 that is pulling Profit, Pounds, and Profit/Lbs. Each query has a field 'Measure Unit' that is labeled as 'Spread $', 'Spread Lbs' or 'Spread $/Lb'. It joins these three queries via a union and then loads them into a Crosstab list. The individual queries work correctly, and when dumped into a List Report are fine, but for some reason when in the crosstab report, the calculated profit/lbs column is always wrong. How can I get the calculated column to total correctly in the crosstab?
Three queries pull seperate Measure Units and measures for Profit, Lbs and Profit/Lbs.
The calculation for Profit.
The Calcuation for Profit/Lbs
Properties for the measure fields.
What the report looks like. Middle column should equal Spread $ / Spread Lbs, but does not when in crosstab.
Try to customize Solve Order for your calculations.
Default behavior is Total(Value1/Value2). You need to archive Total(Value1)/Total(Value2)
(Don't change your formulas, just set Solve Order for calculations)

Crystal Reports 7 CrossTab Suppress Column

I'm trying to modify a report created in Crystal Reports 7 (which I know almost nothing about). I want to use a CrossTab, as this seems to be the best way to accomplish what I want. I have a column with three possible values: A, B, C. The cross tab creates three columns. I want to suppress C. How can I do this?
Also, is there anyway to create rows based on one field (i.e. a PK value), but display another - like a description? For example, if a list of states have a PK value of 1-50, I want them ordered by PK, but I want to display the state name.
All you ask is possible;
i suggest not to use cross tab: cross tab is intended for an uknown number of rows and columns (varying on data) ad for summarizing (max value, sum of values) results on a grid.
you should, instead:
Create a blank report
Drop the fields from the Field explrorer into the Details Section (just A and B columns)
Use Report Sort Expert to sort elements no the PK value

Keeping same number of columns at cross tab report

I have a cross-tab report which similar to this
Problem is when there are no data to one month that column won't appear in the report. I would like to keep the same number of column even there are empty values for the row data.
Is it possible to achieve in cross-tab reports??
Thanks
This is a problem more with the underlying dataset. You have two options:
Modify your query to always return data even for "empty" groups
Hardcode the columns into the cross-tab
Option 1 is probably the best approach. Take a look at this similar question: Handling non existent values in sql query expression for ssrs chart
