Is there a handy tool to draw transparent icons for an iPhone app?
I know PhotoShop can do this, but I prefer a simple one.
Pixelmator is simple, quite cheap and popular on the Mac.
I find it too simple and prefer Gimp, which is nowhere near as simple to use, but is very powerful and free.

I am looking for color schemes designed specifically for programmers that can be used by many of the popular IDEs. Recently I've discovered Solarized. It's supposed to reduce eye-fatigue and after using it for a while i must say it's true. Although, I really don't like solarized's colors.
When I switched back to my old colors they were too damned bright. I was quite astonished by the effect the solarized colors had on my eyes.
I'm wondering if there are other themes designed with such a precision for wide range of IDEs (and even terminal colors!).
Another popular theme that you can check is zenburn. You can find that theme for any popular IDE.

I've build my own website from scratch as I needed it to be built especially for my business. That went well so far, but now I want to make the "articles engine".(store them in a database, display based on name etc) and I was wondering if there is a way to install an editor, cause that would make my editing job so much easier. I've tried looking it up but all I found was CMS oriented plugins. Those could work, but editing them would most likely take soo long. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!
I'm using CKEditor (aka:FCKEditor) editor for many years.

There are many alternatives but my advice is this.

I am looking especially for tab bar icons, buttons and backgrounds. Are there any websites intended for this purpose?
Glyphish have great icons I use in lots of apps. Their pro series are well worth the modest cost.
I'm not sure how high is the quality you're expecting, but you will certainly find GUI images on Open Game Art that you can legally use.

There are a lot of things I'm bad at, but drawing probably tops the list.
I'm looking for a decent size repository for iPhone tab icons. Something similar to Wikimedia commons (I ask this as I'm waiting for fink and GIMP to install). Any suggestions out there?
Personally I rate the Glyphish collection of icons and have used them in several projects.

I find it hard to believe that every developer creates their icons manually in various different ways but if that is the case, that is fine. I was wonder what the standard was for creating iOS icons (home screen icons, etc.)
Apple do have some guidelines for creating icon of app. Via:
http://developer.apple.com/library/ios/#DOCUMENTATION/UserExperience/Conceptual/MobileHIG/IconsImages/IconsImages.html
Doing some search, you'll find a lot of article talking about icon making experience. Such as:
http://eddit.com/notebook/archive/iphone_app_icon_template/
http://pixelresort.com/blog/iphone-app-icon-design-best-practises/
And here's a tutorial on making icon:

I hope those links help.
This could help you.. http://blog.cocoia.com/2010/iphone-ipad-icon-psd-template/
First hit for "iphone icon template" via Google. ;)
What do you mean by official way?
Application icons have standard sizes and format...
Format is png 24 bit.
Sizes vary depending on the use of the icon...
