Adding Dynamic HTML to Facebook's Fan Page - facebook

I am trying to add a new box on the main view of our Fan Page.
And populate it with HTML from our main webserver (django) when the user opens the fan-page.
Is there any way to do this ?

You should read up on creating facebook applications...
Once you have an application you can setup a page tab application and add that to your fan page.
Finally go to your fan page settings, and the "Manage Permissions" tab. There you can set your "Default landing tab". Be aware, as the administrator of the page the landing tab will not work for YOUR account - you'll have to log into a different facebook account to see this behaviour.

There's two way of reading what you want to do :
1/ You want a landing for non-fans
2/ You want a landing page for all your user
The first one is achievable by creating an application and fill the page tabs fields (PAge tab name, Page tab url, secure page tab url). Then going to the App Profile Page, add it to your page. Then on the admin panel of your page pick your app as default landing tab.
The second isn't achievable. One a user likes your page, its default page is your wall and you can't change it.
I'm not sure exactly what you wants to achieve, hope I helped.

How to link a Facebook app with an existing fan page

Now that Facebook has depreciated the landing pages for apps, how do I get my app to point to the Fan page for it's landing page?
I've checked under the Advanced tab and contacts -- but there's no place I can see to list my Fan page as being linked to my application.
According to this blog post from December, new apps can create a new Fan page, but there's no information on how to do it for existing pages -- they just say that "it will be linked automatically." Unfortunately it was not -- when you post something from our app onto your wall, the link takes you to our website rather than our Fan page.
I'd love for that link to take you to our fanpage again, but I seemingly can't find any documentation on this.
It is possible. I had the same problem. What you need to do is the following:
Categorize your existing page under "App Page" (found under "Brands & Products").
Change your page name to mach your App name.
Go to your App and select "App Details"
Under "Contact Info" you will find "App Page". There you will be able to create a new page or if all went well, select your page from a list.
I found the info in the little question-mark next to "App page".
It is possible to add the application to any page you administer. This can be achieved from solutions mentioned below:
Solution 1
http://facebook.com/add.php?api_key=[YOUR_APP_KEY]&pages=1&page=[YOUR_PAGE_ID]
YOUR_APP_KEY You can get it from application settings, its App Id
YOUR_PAGE_ID You can get it through Graph Explorer https://graph.facebook.com/[PAGE_NAME]
Solution 2
https://www.facebook.com/dialog/pagetab?app_id=[YOUR_APP_KEY]&next=[REDIRECT_URL]
YOUR_APP_KEY You can get it from application settings, its App Id
REDIRECT_URL Any URL you want to redirect back to after adding the tab
Official Solution
Answer from #Dvir Levy is the official solution from Facebook. The issue with that approach is that we mostly can not follow that solution. Suppose we had to add an application tab to a brand page like 'ABCXYZ', if we follow that answer then we had to change the brand page name, and we can't do it, brands/clients we work for doesn't allow these changes.
Due the recent changes on the Facebook UI, some options have changed or are under a different place.
I would like to share the up to date way to achieve this.
On your page
Access the About section
Click on Edit Page Info on the top right side.
Set one of your categories to App page
PS: May be needed your page and app share the same name, but can't confirm this.
On your app
Access your app from the Facebook Developers apps panel.
Access Settings on the left side menu.
Set the category to Apps for pages and hit Save. [#JohnMc mentioned this has to be the only category selected.]
Open the Advanced section and find the App Page block.
Under Existing page select your page and hit Save.
All set!
Note: If you remove the link between the page and the app you won't be able to link them again.
Edit: As #John Mc pointed out in the comments, App page has to be the only category selected.
Happned to me. You need to add yourself (your developer account) as manager/admin of the page. Then it will recognize the link between you and the page and the app will show the app page so you'll be able to choose it.
This is possible.
Go to you business page, add yourself as a managed (make sure you have liked the site first)
Then refresh the App Details developers page.
Select the business app page from the App page contact section.
Note the Business page has to be the Brands & Products : App Page, and the same name as the App.
Here's how to add a tab to a page.
https://developers.facebook.com/docs/reference/dialogs/add_to_page/
I use the direct URL Method. Go to your page and then type the following into the address bar of your browser.
https://www.facebook.com/dialog/pagetab?app_id=YOUR_APP_ID&display=popup&next=YOUR_URL
Where YOUR_APP_ID is the app id shown in the app configuration page, and YOUR_URL is the page you want to to be redirected to once you close the dialog.
In the Facebook app config settings will be Site URL. This is the place where it's currently going, correct? So have your marketing people make a "pretty" landing page for the app, and you can change your app settings to point to the pretty landing page. Maybe all that landing page is a redirect to your Facebook fan page.

Exchanging iframe tab with Facebook wall

Good Day,
Is there any way one can have the Facebook Iframe tab as the default landing page on Facebook, after a user liked the page.
That means when ever a user who "liked" the page visit the facebook page again, he will see the tab first and not the wall as a default.
Go to your page, go to Edit Page, go to Manage Permissions, there you will see Default Landing Tab...
Then parse signed_request and redirect user if needed...
There is no way to set the default landing tab for users who already like your page - only for users who don't already like the page

How to add an iFrame page Tab application to an Application profile page?

I've been trying to set up my Facebook Application Profile Page by adding an iFrame tab to it. Seeing as this is similar to the process of adding an iFrame tab to a Fan Page, I going through the same process, to no avail.
In order to add an iFrame tab to a Fan Page, one is required to create a Facebook iFrame Page Tab Application (process described here: http://www.hyperarts.com/blog/tutorial-add-an-iframe-application-to-your-facebook-fan-page-fall-2012/), and then browse to the newly created app's page, click the 'Add to My Page' link and select the page to which they want to add the iFrame Page Tab Application.
Now, if I want to do the same thing, but instead of adding the iFrame Page Tab Application to a Fan Page, add it to an Application Profile Page, then that's impossible because, apparently, Application Profile Pages don't appear in the window where you'd select the page you want to add the tab to. I've seen other applications that have done it, and have tried many approaches, none of which seem to work.
Any ideas?
Ultimately, my goal is to create a tab in my Application Profile Page, with my own content (which is basically just a picture with a link on it). Tried using the FBML app that Facebook provides but the problem with that is that they don't let you customize the icon to the left of the tab when using the FBML app, and using the iFrame Page Tab Application (as described above) is a workaround, but then I can't add it to my App profile page :\
Thanks

custom tab content doesn't show up in facebook page

I created a facebook page for my company and we wanted to add a custom tab for users to land on. I went and created an app to do an iframe tab since fbml has been depreciated. Anyway i have everything set and added the app on the fan page, but when you click on the link for the custom tab nothing shows up in the content area.
Any ideas as to why this is happening? I can see the content just fin on our server, it just doesn't load inside the facebook page
I have the same problem (FF 3.6, IE8). I've discovered that the Custom app/tab won't display in the my FB page if I'm logged into my own page. The only "solution" I have found is to log out of FB, or open a different browser and display the page "anonymously". Only then does the custom tab appear.

How do we link a Facebook page and a separate App?

I made an application for using Facebook's likes/comments.
This is the app.
However, I made a separate fan page.
How do I link the two such that the App's Profile Page points to the one that I have made?
I can't afford to make a new page since I have already gathered 250+ likes, and it was hard.
Facebook changes their user interface once in a while, and it can be difficult how to add an app as a tab to a Facebook page.
Here is how you do it:
The app must be a tab app. When you create the app, you get a chance to specify a Page tab URL and a Secure Page Tab URL. If the app is set up as a "App on Facebook", it will not work. Make sure your app is set up as a "Page Tab"
After you create the Tab app, click on "View App Profile Page" in the left column.
Click "Add to My Page"
Select the page to which you want to add this tab and click the close button
There is a step by step tutorial on how to do this here:
http://how-to-create-facebook-app.koliber.com
You can link the app to the page by clicking the "link to my page" link at the lower left of the app screen. A box pops up that lists all the pages you are an administrator of. Just select the one you are targeting.
The app including its info content will then appear as an extra tab/menu item on your page. That way, the visitors of your page have direct access to your app.
