iphone fbconnect. does it work with OS 2.2.1? - iphone

does fbconnect works with iphone OS 2.2.1 ?

If you download the project source code, the base SDK is set at iPhone OS 2.0. This would seem to indicate that it can be build for 2.x, but I no longer have the 2.0 SDK on my machine, so I can't test this out.

Simulate iPhone 3.0 with SDK 4.0

i have xcode 3.1.3 and xcode 3.2.1 installed
For sure now I use 3.2.1 with Sdk 4 to develop new apps.
But what if I like to test a App compiled with sdk 4 on a
simulated iphone that would just have 3.0??
As BaseSDk i use 4.0 and as target 3.0
In xcode 3.1.3 i could select a simulator down to 2.x but with sdk 4.0
i only have the option 4.0 iphone or 3.2 ipad
Example> i know iAd is not supported before 4.0 so I set the
framework to weak. But just to be sure all works fine I really
would like to test my app in a simulator that simulates an iphone with 3.0
thx

The new simulator does not seem to be able to run the old simulator OSs (3.2 being the oldest it'll run). I tried moving them over from old SDK installs and several variations and "no go".
You can check that you aren't using methods defined in the new SDK, when you set the base SDK to 4.0 but set the Deployment to to 3.1.3, for example. For a blog post on how to do this see this blog post, and note my comment on an easier way to do the last two steps (no need to edit the project file as a text file).
inside the iphone sdk dmg file, there should be a folder called packages. in it, you'll find packages like iPhoneSDK3_0 and iPhoneSimulator3_0. Install them to be able to use them in xcode.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think a device with 3.0 installed can't even run apps compiled with 3.2 or 4.0. Furthermore, Apple now only accepts iPhone apps (including updates of existing apps) linked against the 4.0 libraries, which won't run on OS version 3.0 devices.
So why do you want to test your app on a 3.0 device?
Try setting the architecture you want to build for in the Xcode project preferences and rebuilding.
If this doesn't work, completely uninstall Xcode and downgrade. You have to completely uninstall because your system must have updated the frameworks for 4.0.
Hope this helps

Testing iPhone app on older OS versions in Xcode

All,
Is there a way to download older versions of the iPhone simulator to test an application with an older version of the iPhone OS? I'm running Xcode 3.2.2. and it only has iPhone OS 3.1.3 and I need to test on 3.1.2.
Thanks in advance
Head to
http://connect.apple.com
Click "Developer Tools" on the right
You can get all the way back to Xcode 1.0 if you like
I've been trying to do the same thing. The answer seems to be rather unsatisfying: You cannot use the simulator to test if your app runs on a previous iOS version. It only works on the device, according to Apple:
iPhone OS Note: Mac OS X v10.6 does
not support using iPhone Simulator
SDKs prior to version 3.0. In
addition, when building with the
simulator SDKs, the binary runs only
on the same OS version as the SDK, not
on earlier or later versions.
This seems really dull. How am I supposed to test backwards compatibility without having one physical iPhone for each SDK version? Not good.

The application is not installed on iPhone it requires newer version of iPhone os

Xcode 3.2 says the version of iPhone OS isn't supported when my iPhone OS is version 3.1.3

I just went through the whole certificate/keychain/provisioning/appID/profile/DNA test process to get my app running on my iPhone. Turns out my iPhone OS was out of date (3.0.1 I think), so I updated it. Now it says
The version of iPhone OS on “Stefanie's phone” does not match any of the versions of iPhone OS supported for development with this copy of Xcode. Please restore the device to a version of the OS listed below. If necessary, the latest version of Xcode is available here.

But I have Xcode 3.2.1, which is supposed to support iPhone OS 3.1.3. What am I doing wrong? I have a cruddy internet connection (HughesNet), so I can't upgrade the Xcode SDK without it taking literally days.
I have good news and bad news. The good news is that this is easily fixable. The bad news is that the fix is downloading the whole freaking package. I'm not sure why you can't just download the SDK and leave XCode alone, but Apple only supplies the SDK with all of XCode bundled with it - and the SDK version has to be greater than or equal to the version of your iPhone firmware.
Kind of a pain when dev builds come out every 2 weeks.

How to get older SDK and do I need to?

I have OS 10.6 on my mac. I started with iphone SDK for snow lepard which builds for SDK 3.0 to 3.1.2. I'm ready to submit my app to the store. I'd like older iphones to use it as well. I can't find Apple's link for SDK 2.2. Only the link for the 3.1 sdk.
Do I need to release the app built with 2.2 ? If so where can I find it?
Can iphone users update the OS on their phones?
Thanks,
Actually, on my mac, (10.6.2) iphone sdk will build 'down' to 2.2.
And yes, iPhone users can upgrade (and downgrade) their OS. -- but you knew that since you've got an iPhone for testing right?
:)
In the XCode, you can either specify which SDK to use to build your application or which OS version to use to test your application. See this guide for more details.
