I am looking for mobile apps that will help me be more productive and be all around more useful as a programmer. I have the Dropbox app and Awesome Note. As a programmer what apps or tools do you use on your IPhone/IPod that help you be more productive etc...?
Ideally I am looking for SRC control, SSH tools, Web development-related apps etc.

AppSales keeps track of sales data and user reviews.

iSimulate lets you send a lot of sensor and input data from your device to the simulator - so for example you can get proper iPhone GPS callbacks with your real location in the simulator instead of on the device.

There is a CodeToGo IApp built upon IdeoneAPI (a multicompiler)
which might be of your interest and possibly another two (Gusto and Textastic via ReadWriteHack).

I have an idea for a small project around music discovery. I'm hoping to find a service that has access to a huge collection of music (a la Spotify, Google Play, etc) but doesn't require each user to already have access to that.
Does this sort of service/api exist somewhere? My googling didn't turn up anything.
Thanks!
There are commercial options, but for your project you might consider Radio Reddit. We have a fairly large library of music mostly fun unsigned musicians.
While we haven't officially documented the API and are still under construction, the media APIs work well and are easy to understand. You can look at your tab while browsing music on the site for an example, or email me at brad#radioreddit.com.

G'Day Developers,
I am about to hook my self into developing application for iOS platform, However my clients have no idea how to develop on iOS but they are familiar with Android and Windows mobile platform. So they insist me to develop their application in iOS in such a way that they can follow some of the fundamental ideas and start their project for Android and Windows later on.
Long story short : Is there any set of guidelines which can help me to produce design models and codes which later can be used in other platforms(...not syntactically but semantically...)?
Thank you for any input,
Well the easiest way to do portable applications is to web applications (e.g. html5).
Then there are a number of packages on the market that allow you to access the hardware on the phone which you can use in your web application. These packages would then contain the device specific code allowing your application to stay portable.
Example of such a package is sencha but there are many more.

I'm looking for some resources (online is good so I don't have to buy books, but books are ok) about mobile website development. I'm specifically targeting (in order) iPhone, Android, Blackberry. I'm proficient in HTML, and am getting into HTML5. I want to learn more about it in general, but specifically about using geolocation, detecting phone types, optimizing css, and a few other topics. Does anyone have suggestions on where to look?
Thanks!
There are a couple of good books from Apress that may be of interest:

I have a pretty simple 2D flash game. It's a jump n run sidescroller and I want to port it to the iPhone.
But what is the best way to do it? There is Adobe Flash Pro CS5 but I'd rather program it from the scratch in an iPhone environment.
Are there any top games done by open source framekworks? Which is the best way to go?
If your main concern is easily porting it, then I'd have a look at corona. Apparently porting from flash is very easy, and they have guides for ActionScript to Corona (Lua) conversions. It's not free or open source, but there is a 30 Day trial period available.

Are there any full featured GPS applications available with source for the iPhone, preferably that use Open Street Map to get data? None of the current offerings work very well with Voiceover on the iPhone, but it'd be a lot easier to modify an existing app to work with Voiceover then write one from scratch.
The excellent route-me project is open source and uses Open Street Map (among other map providers). It includes a sample app, which I believe cannot be called full-featured but it should be pretty easy to extend it to something that matches most features of the built-in Maps app.
Sharp Map is a geospatial application framework for .Net. Not sure if anybody has tried it on the iPhone.
Might be possible to get running using mono touch
