I am trying to link the library libssh2.1.dylib to my iPhone Xcode project but I get this error when I try to link it. If I don't add this as a framework I get Symbols not found error. Now /Users/Matt/Documents/Development/iPhoneApps/Portscanner/lib/libssh2.1.dylib is not the correct pathway to that file. I downloaded the library off the internet and its the pathway of the Author's computer. I have the file located in a totally different place. How do I change the pathway reference? Heres the error I get:

You can use the install_name_tool to change the installed path name on a .dylib file:

Example of changing an install name:
install_name_tool -id <yourpath>/libssh2.1.dylib /Users/Matt/Documents/Development/iPhoneApps/Portscanner/lib/libssh2.1.dylib
first parameter is the path that you want
second parameter is the real path to the file so drag the file in from the Finder
Also you may need to change dependency names too, and you can use the same tool to do that:
install_name_tool -change <old path> <new path> <library name>
You can check what the current names are using the otool. So you can verify the change with the otool like this:
otool -D libssh2.1.dylib and dependencies with otool -L libssh2.1.dylib
Or you can get the source code and rebuild it yourself with the current path in it.
If you need a relative path you should look into changing your install name to #rpath/libssh2.1.dylib and add the path to your project settings.

I am trying to build a custom recipe with Yocto (Rocko) for my Linux i.MX6 based embedded system.
The main recipe had dependency on a other custom recipe(as the main recipe is using header-files from this recipe) which is also creating some binaries which needs to be included in the final image.
I have added other_recipe(nbdkit) in the "DEPENDS" of main_recipe.bb
DEPENDS += "nbdkit"
the main recipe is creating a .so with the help of its own source file which is including header-files from the 'kit' recipe. I am able to install the binaries & .so generated using this main_recipe by adding it in do_install().
Now in the other_recipe(nbdkit http://cgit.openembedded.org/meta-openembedded/tree/meta-networking/recipes-support/nbdkit/nbdkit_git.bb?h=master), When I add do_install()to include the binaries generated from that recipe the main_recipe build gets failed with PKG_CONFIG error as follow,
| Package nbdkit was not found in the pkg-config search path.
| Perhaps you should add the directory containing `nbdkit.pc'
| to the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable
| No package 'nbdkit' found
Other build errors says that the header-files of kit included in the main_recipe is not found.
app-nbdkit-plugin.c:2:10: fatal error: nbdkit-plugin.h: No such file or directory
Where app-nbdkit-plugin.c is source file of main_recipe & kit-plugin.h is header file of other_recipe.
The strange thing is, when I remove do_install() from other_recipe(nbdkit) the main_recipe is getting built successfully.
Now I doubt, Is it possible to set a recipe as DEPENDS of other recipe and at the same time it provides output file as do_install()?
Will sharing header-files from other_recipe to main_recipe resolves the issue? If yes, how to do that?

I'm trying to build my OwnCloud client. I'm using "Generic Build Instructions" from this link - https://doc.owncloud.org/desktop/2.5/building.html.
I'm stuck at 3 step with an error:
Could NOT find Qt5Keychain (missing: QTKEYCHAIN_LIBRARY)
I downloaded Qtkeychain and compiled it using this link - https://github.com/frankosterfeld/qtkeychain/wiki.
Everything is in my C disk. PATHS are set correctly. Can someone tell me what am missing here.

How did you compile qtkeychain?
With the environment variable %QTDIR% set correctly, e.g. C:\Qt\Qt5.6.0\5.6\msvc2015, you should be able to compile qtkeychain
cmake -G "MinGW Makefiles" .
mingw32-make
and get a 32bit file named "libqt5keychain.dll.a".
You can then add the directory containing this file to your Windows path environment variable. This should work (it does for Nextcloud, at least).
I want to add gedit to the the image. But i am not able to find the dependencies of gedit package. How to find the dependencies (DEPENDS) in yocto.
You can use the following command which opens up a Dependency explorer that displays dependencies on the packages:
bitbake -g recipe-name -u depexp
or bitbake -g gedit -u depexp, in your case.
On pyro and later use:
bitbake -g recipe-name -u taskexp
Note: this command needs python-gtk2 installed.
You can also use Toaster, which is a web UI that collects information about what you build, including dependencies. This video shows the dependency information provided:

I use Eclipse + ARM plugin to build my projects. When I needed to use in my project the StemWin library, I configured my IDE to use external library.
I set
Preferences -> C/C++ General -> Paths and Symbols
I added in "Library Paths" the link to my folder includes library.
I also added the name of my library in tab "Library".
I checked the settings in the compiler tab and I ascertained all should be good.
When I tried to build my project I got an error from linker:
cannot find -lMyLib.a Hello C/C++ Problem
I double checked the name of my library and link, all are correct. This is the output of my linker:

Above are my working settings.
With -l:<archive file name> the colon : is important for archive file linking.
And -L will contain library path.
Also for stemwin make sure to compile with hardware floating point
-mfloat-abi=hard -mfpu=fpv4-sp-d16
the convention for the -l option of the linker (say you give -lMyLib.a as a linker option) is to search for a library file with "lib" prepended to the given name and .a (or .so) appended, i.e. your command line searches for a file libMyLib.a.{a,so} which is probably not how it's named.
Either you rename your library according to this convention or give it to the linker command line omitting -l (provided your IDE allows you to do so).
Looks like the problem is in -lMyLib.a which means you're trying to link a static library as a dynamic one.
To link a static lib you have to use its path as with ordinary .o files: ... /path/to/MyLib.a
and the resulting command line should look something like

Although it might fix the issue, turns out it's not true:

Normally the files found this way are library files—archive files whose members are object files. The linker handles an archive file by scanning through it for members which define symbols that have so far been referenced but not defined. But if the file that is found is an ordinary object file, it is linked in the usual fashion. The only difference between using an -l option and specifying a file name is that -l surrounds library with ‘lib’ and ‘.a’ and searches several directories.

I am trying to program the Arudino Nano from Eclipse. It has the same processor as the Uno (Atmega328p). I have had this working before with the Uno, but have since gotten a new hard drive and had to reinstall/reconfigure everything. I am running Fedora 19 with Eclipse Kepler. I am getting an error in the build process that I don't even know where to start looking to solve, and Google hasn't been much help...
Here is the error:

The problem could be described like this:
First, the library should be specified only by its name and without the "lib" prefix and the ".a" suffix. The linker (this is where you get the error) will look for the library within the specified in the project paths and will add whatever is necessary to the file library name. So if the library you need is named mystuff it will look for a file named libmystuff.a.
In your case this is specified by the -l/usr/avr which I think could be misconfiguration or you did not copy/paste the entire error output. With the '-l' option you specify the name only, not the entire path to the file.
Second, the path should be specified, in the project configuration, where to look for the libraries, otherwise the linker will look for the library files only within your own project only. Often libraries are part of another project - so you need to adjust the project configuration accordingly.
I had similar problem and this is how I solved it ...
Go to menu Project/Properties. On left - choose "C/C++ Build". On right - choose the tab "Tool Settings". On the tree view choose "AVR C Linker" then "Libraries" sub-item. You are where you may need to make changes.
The list of "Libraries" is where you add libraries names, such as mystuff.
The Libraries Path is where you specify the paths to the libraries. This may look like this: "${workspace_loc:/mystuff/Release}"
The result of this is that the linker will look for this file: /mystuff/Release/libmystuff.a under you workspace root folder.
