For example, this is the url to a facebook video thumbnail:
http://vthumb.ak.fbcdn.net/vthumb-ak-sf2p/v10822/239/59/505867356/t505867356_382364037356_272.jpg
There are quite a few obfuscation identifiers in there which prevent me from doing something like taking a video id and making a thumbnail link.
The reason I'd like the thumbnail is to be able to populate a 'navigator' band with the various videos from the app.
Anyway, anyone know of a way to get the video thumbnail url?
find your video id, and this the url of thumbnail https://graph.facebook.com/VIDEO_ID/picture

I want to add thumbnail to facebook LIVE VIDEO using graph api. I saw some websites able to do that , they can add thumbnail to live video. there is no docs available to do that.
I tried to upload thumbnail to the live video attachment but not worked.
some website are able to add the thumbnail to the scheduled live video , see the above screenshot with thumbnail
As far as I know, there's no standard way of doing that. However, if you tried getting the data of the live video after the live stream has started, it will include an iframe that has the video ID in its source. So the process would be something like this:
Create the live video
Start the live stream
Get the live video data
Parse the iframe content and extract the value from the src attribute
Get the href query param from the extracted value
The last part of the href is the actual video ID that will show in feeds
Use that video ID to add the thumbnail
I would advise adding some latency before step #3 so that you can be sure that the video has been created in feeds.
USE THIS
https://developers.facebook.com/docs/graph-api/reference/live-video/#Creating
Include event_params: {"cover" : "<thumbnail url>"} in the request parameters
Cover photo won't show up in timeline. (You need to click on more and then click on events)
Currently, even if I have a video on my cover, when I request {page_id}?fields=cover, the url is still image instead of video. So I'm wondering how to get Facebook cover video url using graph api? Thanks in advance.
i am facing a problem while sharing a youtube video from my website using facebook share button,
the website contains Article, pictures and Videos imported from Youtube, all meta tags are well formatted and provided. but only with youtube when i try to share a video thumbnail is not shown !!! in the other side the description and the title all is shown and right.
i tried to check what facebook is recognizing from my website through (developers.facebook.com/tools/debug) and the thumbnail is there !!!!
i also tried to take the video url directly from youtube and paste it to facebook and the thumbnail is shown, only when i click the share button from my website to share a youtube video the thumbnail disappear.
please help and thanks in advance.
The video links shared via my website on Facebook appear as only images in the shared link; Facebook doesn't seem to recognize the content as video.
I've debugged the URL via Facebook debugger, and every thing appears fine:
<http://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/og/object?q=www.vlikeviral.com%2Fvideos%2Fplay%3Fid%3D10>
The thumbnail that appears under the link does not have a play button on it. As you can see in the debug details, the appropriate og tags are already present on the page.
For video playing Facebook is not considering og:video tag, instead of that it is looking for og:video:secure_url tag
refer-link: https://developers.facebook.com/blog/post/602/
You seem to be missing an og:video tag pointing to the video source.
See also Shared Facebook video is not displayed inline in wall posts for HTTPS users - you also need to include the HTTPS source if you want users browsing Facebook over HTTPS to see the inline video.
It is very easy. You can add play button on an image like Facebook play button by using adobe Photoshop. Watch this video you will understand how to add it on the image.

Is there any way to upload an image (UIImage) directly from an iPhone app to a user's wall/feed?
All the samples I see are either using a json-embedded link or they use the photos.upload call with album ID (aid) which results in the user getting the image in his photo album(s).
What I want to do is to upload an (UI)Image created (by the user) inside an iPhone app and upload to his/her wall. Is this possible? Sample code would be highly appreciated.
This isn't possible. To understand why, you have to consider the conceptual model that Facebook currently uses: Posts on a user's wall are just bits of text optionally attached to some link URL. That link URL can be some random image on the web, or it can just as well be an image that the user already has in their photo albums.
But a wall post cannot inherently "contain" an image in and of itself. Therefore you need to host the image somewhere, be it on your own site, or on Facebook itself, inside one of the user's albums by uploading it first to there.
I'm trying to figure out the same thing myself. One thing I did find out is that if you post the "Wall Photos" album they do get posted to the wall. However you only have a wall photos album if you've uploaded photos to your wall from your profile page before. And even then, you need to get the album aid and then post to it.
EDIT
Found a much better solution. First upload the photo to your default album, then make a post to the wall with the link to your photo that was returned when uploading (not a link to the image but the page the image is on).
