I am trying to show a contact from the iPhone address book. I fetch the names and image of the contacts. Then I pass these details to Detail view.
Now the problem is when I push the detail view, the animation is very slow and choppy. This happens only when I fetch the contact detail which has image. The pushviewcontroller animation works perfectly fine when the contact detail does not contain image.
Also I noticed that this problem occurs only in iPhone 4.0. When I tested this on iPhone 3gs, it worked perfectly. So I am thinking this might be device specific problem.
I fetch the contact name in the following way:

I have loaded the zXing project into my own project.
It loads fine, the zXing scanner pops up after a button call.
I can dismiss the view controller on thezxingControllerDidCancel but when I scan a QR code, no codes are ever recognised and therefore the didScanResult function never fires.
Does anyone have any idea about this one?

That tutorial does not mention that you must add a QRCodeReader to the set of readers of your ZXingWidgetController.
ZXingWidgetController has a property called readers, which is an NSSet containing the instances of the readers (e.g. an instance of QRCodeReader). Roughly, the readers' task is to analyze the images your camera takes and to extract the encoded information. Your ZXingWidgetController has to know about the readers it should utilize, otherwise it has no chance to do anything meaningful. So you have to set the readers property before you present the ZXingWidget.
The ZXing project has a sample app which demonstrates this. If you use ARC, then

I have this piece of code to push a view controller:

But the delegate method viewDidAppear does not get called when the productView appears. I looked up the problem on google and theres a lot of different solutions, none of which I could apply to my problem.. I had a similar problem in a previous solution but I got around it by manually calling viewDidApear in the viewDidLoad method. Unfortunately in this case I can't do that as viewDidLoad is called only once (on the first push). Does anyone know how to fix this?

First: You definitely don't want to be calling any of the standard viewWillLoad, viewDidLoad, viewWillAppear, etc. methods manually. Let the OS do it for you.
Second: Can you show us how your viewDidAppear method is implemented in your self.productView instance? (Just a hunch, you're not expecting this method to be called on your navigation controller, right?) I just want to make sure your method signature is exactly correct. If it's not (due to a mispelling, improper args, etc.) then it definitely won't be called.
Third: I would move your pushViewController: call to after the rest of the code you provided. You don't want the view to be pushed on the screen (so the user can see it) and then have a bunch of on-screen values immediately change. Set your ivars and title property first, then push the view controller. This eliminates any weird flickering.
I solved it, though it doesn't seem conventional, can't believe I didn't try it earlier :
I put this line :
[self.productView viewDidAppear:YES];
Underneath :
// Setup the animation
[self.navigationController pushViewController:self.productView animated:YES];
I also moved the code to set the labels text to run before the above line. (As well as changing my code to send strings to the pushed controller rather that accessing its UI elements.)

For some reason, ABPersonViewController is unwilling to display any properties aside from the name, no matter what properties are set for it to display.
I’m unable to use the AddressBookUI controllers to let a user select a contact to display, since my UI has custom requirements, otherwise I’d go that route (as Apple does in their sample project.)

ABContact is from Erica Sadun's ObjC wrapper (ABContactsHelper), right?
I'm using it too and found that for some reason, Apple's ABPersonViewController somehow treats supplied ABRecordRef as contact.record differently than if you directly use C functions.
Thus this:

will load almost nothing into the controller. Sometimes first/last name, sometimes not even that. However, if you do this:

ABAddressBookRef addressBook = ABAddressBookCreate();
personVC.displayedPerson = ABAddressBookGetPersonWithRecordID(addressBook, person.recordID);
then it will load everything.
Previous answer says that ABAddressBookCreate is required for the constants to have a value, but this is already done in [ABContactsHelper addressBook] call (first thing I call in my code). This it's really puzzling where it gets lost. But the previous does work, consistently.
The key is not to release the ABAddressBookRef before displaying the view controller. I create a static instance in an +initialize method and keep it around.
The value of these constants is undefined until one of the following functions has been called: ABAddressBookCreate, ABPersonCreate, ABGroupCreate.
The above is come from apple document. I think those property constants are not valid for above reason.
This list of properties only affects displaying "properties choosing dialog" (after person has been choosen). Person contact's properties like first, middle, last names, company, etc. are always the same (in both dialogs). If you include kABPersonFirstNameProperty, kABPersonMiddleNameProperty, etc. keys in the list they are ignored, only kABPersonPhoneProperty, kABPersonEmailProperty, etc. have effect.
I have a function here that upon completing a single round, if your score is higher than either a default score entry or a newly placed high score then it will swap its data with your data and push everything else down. removing the last entry from the list. currently this is just one exchange and for functions sake I'm going to hard code it and then refactor it later.
My main problem is that when I set up a text input view to capture the players name execution continues immediately without the players input and crashes the game. I commented out the line that sets the text because I have a default value in place just in case any attempt that I try to make fails. How can I get Execution to wait for a moment while input is taken? Would I have to set up a delegate method? If so I'm still a bit confused by delegates. I could set it up to work but I don't understand it, so I wouldn't be able to do any other special custom tasks with it. I've worked on it for a while and got no further...

I'm going to try making a utility file that works independently of the app so that I Can update files and perform other universal operations such as saving when needed. Its a step in a direction that i'd like to take.
If i get it right, (The code is really nasty, man...) your problem is that you are trying to present a View Controller with the wrong way.
Correct me if i'm wrong, is ScoreKeep is a ViewController? if so, you have to name it properly. that's for a start.
Second, you cant present another view controller only by adding its "view" property to the current view controller's View Hierarchy. that way the view will not respond properly to the events.
the correct way to to what you'r trying to do is by presenting the ScoreKeep ViewController modally.
there is no other right way to do this without using delegation. you will have to acquire this technique.
Your view controller that responsible for getting the name from the user need to have a way to tell it's master view controller that the user entered a name. and that is achieved through delegation.
What you should do:
Basically you create a protocol called something like "NamePrompterViewControllerDelegate"
that will have at least one method that will be called when the user will done entering his name.
Your ScoreKeepViewController should have an instance variable that implemented the protocol (Look at the apple documentation on protocols for assistance)
Your main view controller (the one that contains the method you added) then should implement the protocol you created, and set itself as the delegate of ScoreKeep like that:

Is it possible to select a row in a previous UITableview.

At the morning workout screen , one can select a row and behind it so it will play a Movie.
If the movie plays you can press the secondbutton and it will take you to the final table.
If you press the backbutton you will simply return to the previous screen.
Now here is where my problem lies.
If i'm in my final screen after pressing the secondbutton and I press on the backbutton it would be great if it could play the previous video( in other words the video connected to the previously selected cell)
So if it's possible for me to create a function or some sort of action that can actually select the previously selected row from the first field ( for instance Lunge Forward in this example ).
perhaps with some like

I get my info/feeds from a dictionaryfile and also different tags in my dictionary tell my tableview when to play the video and when not( playVids ).
so to be exact I have a start screen which brings you to a second screen and that one brings you to the morning workout screen and from there if you click a cell it will play a (different with every cell) video. I can't use the standard design from apple(with the backbutton above) since this assignment specifically asks to use their own design.
That's the reason why i created my own tabbar and backbutton.

I am not sure I understand your problem exactly here. Can you show a bit more code? You have 3 view controllers, right? Are you using a standard navigation controller pattern with push/pop to get from one to the other? It looks like maybe you aren't since the buttons are in an odd layout.
If you are then pressing the back button can just pop view 3 and go back to view 2 naturally (it will still be there, so the video should still be playable) so I don't see why you need to mess with the table in view 1 in order to find that and make it show again. You should just be able to hook into viewWillAppear and do the same thing you did when coming from view 1.
And if you aren't using a standard navigation controller pattern then maybe this is the problem. From a UI perspective you probably should do that anyway - people will expect a standard back button in the title bar.
I am pretty sure your problem is soluble anyhow - you can always pass object references from one view to the other when creating them for example - but I don't think you need to resort to the method you have in mind.
edit: reading the additional detail I see you are indeed using push/pop. So you have a stack of views, and when one is popped it uncovers the one beneath it, right? It should therefore be possible to do what you want by implementing the viewWillAppear or viewDidAppear methods in your controller. When your final screen is popped, if I understand correctly it will uncover the view which is able to play the movie. Your viewcontroller will get the viewWillAppear / viewDidAppear messages in that case - by maintaining state and receiving those messages you can then implement logic to decide whether or not you need to play the movie. Rather than call the didSelectRow. method again you could perhaps put the movie play stuff in its own method so you can call from either viewDidAppear or didSelectRow...
I also am not sure that I fully understand your question either but it sounds similar to a problem I was working on recently. Check out this post on using up down arrows to move through the parent table while in a detail view. My app was based on the same sample code so you should be able to get this to work without much trouble.
