Checkmarks in a UITableView - iphone

I create a tableview with 20 cells.
And when I select first row, it will show checkmark on it.
But when I scroll tableview, then it not only one checkmark on tableview cell.
It also show on another cell.
What's the problem with this?

I think it is due to reusing the checkmarked cell. To correct that, write this:

Out of cell reusing space. That is After:

Try this. Here selectedRow is an integer .Assign selectedRow = -1 in viewDidLoad.

i faced same issue. for me, solution was adding a single line of code.
cell.accessoryType = UITableViewCellAccessoryNone;
adding the above code after:

cell = [[UITableViewCell alloc] initWithStyle:UITableViewCellStyleDefault reuseIdentifier:CellIdentifier];

this solution may not be useful for coder who posted the question, but may help new folks like me who face same issue as raised by the original quesiton.

How to maintain state of selection of row in table view?

i am a beginner in xcode. I am creating a questionnaire type list with multiple rows in scroll. But when I select a row and scroll it doesn't retains its state and when I come back, it also loses its selection. it will help you.
First your cellForRowAtIndexPath method create new cell each time whenever you scroll up/down tableView, it is very bad for memory management.
Just remove [questionTable deselectRowAtIndexPath:indexPath animated:YES] in your cellForRowAtIndexPath method
I think you need to use this api below:-

If you are using dynamic cells, and updating your row with some kind of class variable like a NSArray, you might have set your variable to weak instead of strong.

Logic for UITableViewCellAccessoryCheckmark

I want to make a typical situation: when user selects any cell, it's accessoryType turns in checkmark. Only one cell's accessoryType can be checkmark. And then I wanna save in NSUserDefaults indexPath.row so my app will be able to know which cell user selected and make some changes in options. So I wrote this wrong code:

Use selectRowAtIndexPath:animated:scrollPosition: method to select a row programatically.
Few things to correct in your code. You should use isEqualToString: method to match the strings, like this, if ([cell.textLabel.text isEqualToString:categoryString]) {. Next thing is, you are assigning the categoryString to cell.textLabel.text, and on the next line you are matching them, so it would always return YES. I think you are matching the wrong values.
You have to manually set multiple check marks. for that you can use UIImageview for each UITableViewCell and as per the stored old data, you have to set check marks in didSelectRowAtIndexPath(delegate method of UITableView).

If there is a better way I'm all ears. Would be nice if we could just change the SPECIFIC Cell according to the NSIndexPath passed in someday (at least that seems a whole lot more intuitive to me).
I got it to work by using setting the accessory type in cellForRowAtIndexPath based on variable which keeps track of the selected row. Then in didSelectRowAtIndexPath i just deselect the row, update the variable, and reload the table.

UITableViewCell *cell = [tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier: PlayerTableViewCell];
dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier uses already created cell, if the previous one is out of a screen.
So, you should avoid using "dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier" - create a dictionary NSIndexPath -> UITableViewCell and use it instead of dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier.
ADDED:
You can also check if the (rowNumber+1) exists in a winningNumbers array and replace accessory in a tableView:cellForRowAtIndexPath: method. This should work too
