Accessing android SD card folder through iPhone/iPad? - iphone

I am hoping to use my android phone as a portable hotspot, connect my iPad to it and access pictures etc on it. I know android can make folders accessible on a network, I just wondered if the iPad can access these folders?
Also, I would like to be able to make an app that can access these, so if it possible, can someone point me towards some samples/tutorials/resources etc please? Fairly new to the iOS platform and working my way through various tutorials.

As far as I know, Android supports to create WiFi Hotspot for sharing Internet.
It may not support File Transfer in between.

Create Samsung Smart TV Offline Application

I've been asked to create a Samsung Smart TV offline App but I really don't know what it means to Offline Application.
The client said me
The app has no GUI. It's not like a regular app. The TV will be
pointed to a URL. That URL has specific Samsung TV instructions to
download the files and when the TV has it, it will open the zip and
display the content as required.
I've setup the development environment and have studied about Samsung AppsFramework and learned how to start an application but really confusing about the offline Application.
Could anybody please make me understand that what the client does exactly want?

What the client wants in my opinion is an app that can work on the smart TV without having to connect to the internet.
It would obviously need to connect to obtain the download files, but once the app is installed it will have offline functionality and not need to connect to the internet to run.

It is really difficult to say what they mean by offline as we dont have a brief. But offline generally refers to an app that has everything in the initial download. Example, a dictionary app will have all of the words and definitions in the download so they are always available even if the device is not connected.

Samsung API provides interface for reading and writing files so you can download and store something for later offline use.
Alternatively you can use localStorage API.

This part is strange. Launched app occupy whole screen. You need some use-case description from client. Find out what problem is your client want to solve with this app.

How to connect to an iphone through Java? Is this even possible?

I am trying to write a program in Java that can connect to an iPhone that is attached to a computer via apple USB cable and view its files. I have not found anything like this online and have been wondering if this is even possible. Any suggestions?
iOS is problematic because of DRM. Android is also moving in that direction making standard file system browsing difficult so I doubt it would be possible to view arbitrary files on the device.
Codename One allows you to build a Java app that will run on the iPhone itself which might allow you to access some data. However, apps running in the device also have restrictions and can't access the full file system only their own.

How can I make my own iPhone app for myself?

I don't have an Apple computer, I just have an iPhone and some knowledge about language development. I want to create my own app for my own use, just for fun! I don't want to pay Apple for a developer account. I just want to develop my app and put it on my iPhone. I can either develop on Linux or Windows. How can I do that?
If you want to develop on an actual iPhone, you'll need a developer licence. To developer apps natively you will need a Mac running XCode.
There's lots of HTML5 libraries for making apps using javascript though. Maybe try out Phonegap or GameSalad
At the minimum you'll need to have OSX (Mac Operating system) to run Xcode/iphone emulator, you wont be able to do this without OSX.

You'll have to do testing on an adriod emulator, but I believe phonegap builds the app in the cloud. Good luck.
You can develop an app using adobe AIR or adobe Flash. Check out FlashDevelop for a free solution for making flash and air apps for everything from windows to android to iOS.

Native iOS applications can only be built in Xcode (which can only run on a Mac), and you need a developer membership to deploy those on an actual device (which costs about $100 a year). So, that’s the caveat: You can’t make native apps.
However, native apps aren’t the only option! There are two other approaches.
One way is to make a web app. These days, web apps can do almost everything that a native app can do (even access the camera). Unless you’re building something specialized (like a video editor, for example, or a game that needs to work with Bluetooth game controllers), you can probably make something as a web app. Years ago, I wasn’t happy with the flashcard apps on the market and wanted something custom but super simple to help me study JLPT vocabulary. At the time, I also didn’t have the money for a developer membership. I made it as a web app, and it worked great!
If you’re making a web app, you’ll need someplace to host it. There are lots of options. For example, the free tier on Firebase is plenty for a personal-use web app. You also might want to consider building the app using client-side scripting (like Javascript) so that you can host it statically, which will allow you to tell iOS to cache it so you can utilize it offline (Google “HTML offline manifest” for details).
The other way, if you have a friend with a developer account, is to build your app using a cross-platform framework like Flutter, where you don’t need a Mac to develop and test it, then ask your friend to make it for you. You’ll need to rebuild periodically (I think once a year) because your provisioning profile will expire.
If you use a framework like Flutter that can build both native AND web apps, that gives you the ability to run natively (if you have access to a Mac) or host it statically on someplace like Firebase Hosting (if you don’t).

Add media from iphone (outside of iPod library) into iTunes

Is there a way for my iPhone app to add media (mp3s) not in its iPod library to iTunes once the user plugs/syncs to a desktop such that the media will get sync'd back into the iPhone's iPod library?
I know the question is rather general, but if it is indeed possible, can anyone nudge me in the right direction?

No, it's not possible to do this using anything provided by the iPhone SDK. The only way to do something similar would be to store the media in your iPhone application's local storage, write an OS X application that discovered your iPhone via Bonjour, synced the content via WIFI, and then added it to iTunes.
Take a look at "Things" (an iPhone todo list application) if you'd like to see an example with sync-to-desktop functionality.
there is a way, i've done it through an app and it wasn't complicated. sadly I forgot and am currently looking for where I found the answer and thats how I stumbled upon this.

Beginner Help for Developing Web Pages for Smart Phones

I have just started authoring web pages for use on "smart phones". I need to target Blackberry, WinCE, iPhone, etc. What resources or books would you recommend for someone with ample web and software development experience but no experience developing UI for these devices? What emulation kits would you recommend, and how accurately do they represent the real thing?
Edit: To clarify, I have a web application built in ASP.Net. I want a limited subset of the functionality available in the app to be available to mobile devices. I am writing a separate set of pages to accomplish this. I am starting with two, simple chunks of functionality. In the future I believe I might get requirements for more functionality to be ported.

From an emulator standpoint, there are good ones out there, but honestly NOTHING beats having the actual device, yes it is expensive, but the user experience on a mobile device is much different than any emulator can illustrate. if you are serious about this, get a device or two for testing!
