Hi there I am currently working though an exercise in the "iPhone Programing - The big nerd ranch guide" where they are describing how to add localization to your application.
However I have run into a small bump in the road, they are describing how to access the Get info from the contextual menu by right clicking the xib file in the file browser on the left of the screen.. I guess they are explaing how this is done with xcode 3.XXX but I am using xcode 4.XXX and am woundering if anyone can help me find this menu.
Most of the information & tools contained in the Xcode 3.0 "Get Info" inspector are in now the "Utilities" panel view on the right side of Xcode 4.0.

I'm using Storyboard's to develop a macOS Big Sur application, when I noticed that apps such as Xcode and App Store used nice little blue icons:
I could not find these in Xcode's interface builder anywhere. Does anybody know how to get those icons? (More specifically Xcode's blue plus button, next to "Create a new Xcode project")
this is plus.app in the system icon
i am watching my first xcode tutorial on youtube , it says that i have to make new "based view application" but i found "simple view application" i thing it is the same , am i right? then on the tutorial there are somethings like buttons , textareas... to put it in the view but i can't find it with my xcode 4.5.2 , i read on google it is from tool then library but i don't have "tool", what should i do to see it please? by the way i just have mac os x lion 10.7.4 and xcode 4.5.2 maybe i have to install another programs ?
this is what i see
and when i press new project check what i see, there is no "view based application"
On the top right, you have three buttons above "View", click the right one to open the right sidebar. In the bottom right corner, you find your UI Objects. Nothing else needed.
Click the small "box" (3rd of the four symbols) in the bottom right.
I dont know which tutorial you are watching but if its unclear you can allways follow this tutorial. If you scroll down you will find what you are looking for! Good luck

Starting a new project in Xcode 4 - what's the best way to make it a Universal app?
When you create a new project it asks you to input the Device Family but the dropdown menu only has two options - one is iPad and the other is iPhone.
What's the best way to create a Universal app then?
Thanks!
Got it from somebody on another forum -
Create an iPhone version, then click on the Project Name at the very top of the menu to bring up a menu with Project and Targets listed. Click on the Target and there is a Devices drop-down menu in the main Summary tab that you can change to Universal. Once you do that, Xcode will ask you if you want to upgrade to a universal project, then you can click 'yes' and that's all!
I was going through the Hello World tutorial for iPhone App. I recently bought a Macbook and have installed Xcode 3.2.3. The tutorial says that I should double click on MainWindow.xib and wait for few seconds to see an Interface builder getting opened. But nothing like that is happening in my macbook. Is there an alternate way to bring up the Interface builder or even to check whether I have the Interface builder at all!?

Rest of the stuff like iPhone simulator are working properly. What am I doing wrong. Please help me.
Thanks
Go to finder and search for "interface builder" as a file name. see if the application is there.
If you have tried everything listed on all websites over internet and if nothing works then try this:
Right click on MainWindow.xib -> GetInfo -> General -> "Path: Relative to current SDK"
No biggie, but when I add the AVFoundation framework for the iPhone, it turns red for some reason I'm unable to figure out why. The project will not compile unless I add this framework, and if I do, Xcode will mark the framework red (apparently that means xcode cannot find the framework), but yet it will work.
This is quite annoying. Any clue what I might be doing wrong here?
Try adding AVFoundation framework via your target.
Look for your target under "Groups and Files"
"Get Info" for it
Click the "General" tab
At the bottom right of the window click the "+" button
At the top of your list you should find AVFoundation, add it.
close Xcode
delete your project
shut down your mac
take the mac back to your boss and tell him it's not working
wait until they figure out what it is
if this doesn't work, find a new job that doesn't require the use of a mac
All I had to do was open up the "General" settings tab for the project and change the "Base SDK for All Configurations" value. It was set to an SDK that I no longer had installed.
