this is what i see
and when i press new project check what i see, there is no "view based application"

On the top right, you have three buttons above "View", click the right one to open the right sidebar. In the bottom right corner, you find your UI Objects. Nothing else needed.
Click the small "box" (3rd of the four symbols) in the bottom right.

I dont know which tutorial you are watching but if its unclear you can allways follow this tutorial. If you scroll down you will find what you are looking for! Good luck

Samsung TV Emulator font size

Can someone please help me with this issue. I've been banging my head to find the solution but no help...
The problem is that Samsung TV Emulator displays everything enlarged (line font-size 30ish pixels) and there does seem to have a way to override it. This only happens within Samsung UI components.
To make sure it wasn't something with my project I've downloaded sample project from Brightcove: Sample project but noticed the same behavior with that as well.
Here is the screenshot of my "project". It only one scene with two UI components: http://tinypic.com/r/124evqc/6
Opposed to that, here's what I see in my IDE view: http://tinypic.com/r/ezmn4l/6. As a side-note, I had to put height: 20px in both of my UI components' CSS in order for IDE to show them that way.
Can anyone suggest what am I supposed to do?
Seems like the button is adding 20px to its previous object, check this, maybe it helps
Did you install the TV Fonts when you installed your SDK?

how to localizing resources with the iphone

Hi there I am currently working though an exercise in the "iPhone Programing - The big nerd ranch guide" where they are describing how to add localization to your application.
However I have run into a small bump in the road, they are describing how to access the Get info from the contextual menu by right clicking the xib file in the file browser on the left of the screen.. I guess they are explaing how this is done with xcode 3.XXX but I am using xcode 4.XXX and am woundering if anyone can help me find this menu.
Most of the information & tools contained in the Xcode 3.0 "Get Info" inspector are in now the "Utilities" panel view on the right side of Xcode 4.0.

IOS Dev Library offline on you mac

I need a offline version of http://developer.apple.com/library/ios/navigation/
Does something like this exist? thank you
You've already got an offline version of the Doc, if you have Xcode installed in your system.
In Xcode, goto Help --> Developer Documentation. Shortcut: Option + Command + ?. This will show you the documentation page loaded in Xcode itself. Select the Home button at the top of the toolbar. It will show a drop down list of reference libraries available. Select iOS library from the menu. It will show you the page you want.
In Xcode, Option + Double-Click on a symbol: Opens the doc for the selected symbol in a small window. Clicking on the book-like-button, the second button from the top-right corner of the window opens the reference page of the symbol. That button is enabled only if the documentation available for the symbol.

The shotcuts Simon describes still work, but the Help menu has changed.

Trouble opening Mainwindow.xib in Xcode/iPhone Development

I was going through the Hello World tutorial for iPhone App. I recently bought a Macbook and have installed Xcode 3.2.3. The tutorial says that I should double click on MainWindow.xib and wait for few seconds to see an Interface builder getting opened. But nothing like that is happening in my macbook. Is there an alternate way to bring up the Interface builder or even to check whether I have the Interface builder at all!?

Rest of the stuff like iPhone simulator are working properly. What am I doing wrong. Please help me.
Thanks
Go to finder and search for "interface builder" as a file name. see if the application is there.
If you have tried everything listed on all websites over internet and if nothing works then try this:
Right click on MainWindow.xib -> GetInfo -> General -> "Path: Relative to current SDK"

Xcode iPhone - Adding framework works a little bit

No biggie, but when I add the AVFoundation framework for the iPhone, it turns red for some reason I'm unable to figure out why. The project will not compile unless I add this framework, and if I do, Xcode will mark the framework red (apparently that means xcode cannot find the framework), but yet it will work.
This is quite annoying. Any clue what I might be doing wrong here?
Try adding AVFoundation framework via your target.
Look for your target under "Groups and Files"
"Get Info" for it
Click the "General" tab
At the bottom right of the window click the "+" button
At the top of your list you should find AVFoundation, add it.
close Xcode
delete your project
shut down your mac
take the mac back to your boss and tell him it's not working
wait until they figure out what it is
if this doesn't work, find a new job that doesn't require the use of a mac
All I had to do was open up the "General" settings tab for the project and change the "Base SDK for All Configurations" value. It was set to an SDK that I no longer had installed.
