What I'm trying to do is to share (video) link, description and thumbnail of the link from/of my flash website in google plus. Since main .swf file of the flash site is embedded in the single html file, it is not possible to use different meta data for different posts. So is there any way that I can share the links with related description and thumbnail image in google plus just like in facebook.
(http://www.facebook.com/sharer/sharer.php?s=100&p[title]=test&p[summary]=test&p[url]=http://www.testurl.com&p[images][0]=http://www.testurl.com/images/thumb1.jpg)
Thanks in advance!
Looks like Google+ relies on metadata in the physical page to pick up the title, description, and thumbnail image.
What I would do is to add a query string parameter to the url sent to Google+, like so:
http://www.example.com/?video=videoID
When Google then fetches the page to retrieve the metadata, you dynamically provide the correct information using the specified micro-formats or meta tags as detailed here: https://stackoverflow.com/a/8295748/354167
Additionally, you could (should?) use the query string to actually load up the relevant video in your swf, providing a better user experience.
// GOOGLE +
private function shareGoogle(e:Event):void
{
openPage("https://m.google.com/app/plus/x/?v=compose&content="+escape(videoInfo.videoLink),"_popup");
}
Here are the more description.

We currently allow users to post images to their FB wall by using FB.Feed() with a URL of existing images on our CDN and we can include a description, a link, caption, etc.. The interface for posting the image is great because it's built by Facebook and gives the ability to choose who sees it (friends, me only, etc.).
We now want to allow users the ability to post images of their creations in the game, which obviously can't be pre-taken images on our CDN, and we'd prefer avoiding the route of uploading all the images to our CDN then using FB.Feed().
I know it's possibly to upload an image using FB.API() but this requires us building a custom popup to allow the users to type what they want to say for the message of the image rather than using the built-in popup from FB.Feed() and it doesn't give the options of who sees the post and as far as I can tell, it doesn't let us add a link, description and caption.
TLDR: Is FB.API() the only way to UPLOAD an image to a user's wall? If so, this requires building a custom interface for it instead of using the built-in FB.Post() interface, right?
Thanks,
Colter
Edit: I didn't see this post until now, but it's a similar question but I want to know if there is the ability to add a description, link and caption to the image AND use the built-in FB interface.
Copy/paste from Brian Jew's comment above:
"There currently isn't a way to upload screenshots without FB.API(). It does sound like an interesting idea to have something like that for FB.Feed() though."
http://gates.cc/works/thisisyours/site/p/fairytale-fashion-collection-61 this is my website url. Here you can see the facebook share using addthis on right side. Please help me what problem in this page. In facebook share box have link only not showing the title, description and the images.
Method 1 :
Facebook treats each url as unique and caches the page based on that url, so if you want to share the latest url the simplest solution is to add a query string with the url being shared. In simple words just add ?v=1 at the end of the url. Any number can be used in place of 1.
Method 2:
Facebook has a tool called Debugger (formerly known as URL Linter). This tool gives us an idea about how a url will be shared on Facebook, what content, which image will be fetched.
I hope this helps
Does anyone know how to give the user the option to choose between multiple images when sharing a page on Facebook?
I've used an url like the one below in the past. The images param would be
p[images][0]=...&p[images][1]=...
etc. However, it seems that this doesn't work anymore. The user sees the arrows to select the next or previous image with but there is only one image to choose from.

However, it seems that this doesn't work anymore.
Yes, the Share dialog does not accept these parameters any more after a recent change, but will now get all its info about the shared link from the Open Graph meta information embedded in the shared document.
So if you want multiple images the user can chose from, you have to put multiple og:image meta tags into your document. (Be aware that Facebook seems to offer no more than three images to chose from any more, so putting more images in there is pointless.)
For documentation on Open Graph meta information, see https://developers.facebook.com/docs/opengraph/using-objects/#creating and http://ogp.me/
So I want users to be able to share this link on facebook but I want only a specific picture to be the thumbnail for this sharing picture and no other images that appear on my web site
I read the documentation about facebook share and I got this
http://developers.facebook.com/docs/share
Basically what I understand is that
<link rel="image_src" href="thumbnail_image" / >
should do what I want. However, I cannot get this to work. My site is programmed using rails and, inside the layout, I have the above tag to take in an image url coming from a model instance.
Does anyone know how to use this properly? Am I misunderstanding something about this tag? I want to disable user from selecting through the images that I have on my page and just allow the user to share with only 1 image which I have to specify.
To specify a specific picture you will need to add open graph meta tags to your page. Take a look at http://developers.facebook.com/docs/opengraph/.
The open graph tag for your case is: og:image
So what I am trying to do is post an image that has been created by a user on an iphone into that users newsfeed.
The functionality I am having a hard time understanding if it is possible:
Can I pass a local NSURL (or URL?)(to a png file that lives in the documents folder) through a JSON string and onto Facebook?
i want to mimic the action of a user going to his/her facebook page, clicking into the textfield for their newsfeeld, uploading an image by clicking the "photos" icon and selecting an image from a local disk and uploading it. I would also like to add some text into the post optionally.
I'm just getting started with the Facebook api and it seems pretty tough right now, any help would be appreciated. code examples appreciated.
Thanks,
Nick
You'll need to use a third-party image host like YFrog or roll your own image host. Facebook requires that all media attachments (including photos) be hosted on the public web. Even though they cache the images themselves, the URL that you send to them has to have its own public URL. Many of the popular Twitter image hosts have simple REST APIs to achieve this.
You can also use Facebook itself to host the image via their photo.upload API, if you don't mind two side-effects: it will appear in the user's photo albums, and the thumbnail is likely to appear in the stream twice (once representing the addition to the photo album, and the second in the actual stream story you publish). You can't currently get around this doubling artifact, but it will give you a stable host for the uploaded image.
Just to clarify this. I was actually able to pass and image directly from the iPhone without a third party but that was posting an image to a users photo album. There are I think two methods in the fbconnect api for posting one contains an extra argument for a data argument which can be an image. I'll post more details when I'm in front of the documentation.
