iReport - Dynamic images or image height - jasper-reports

having an issue with iReport/JasperReports and not sure the best way to tackle it. The report is a typical order detail style report with each line item enumerated with attributes like quantity, description, name, price, etc.
However, the problem I would like to solve revolves around displaying optional pictures as part of the line item description. Each line item could have N number of detailed pictures - think of it as multiple images of a product (like under the car hood, the wheels, interior, exterior, etc). The number of images is displayed at run time.
How can I include these dynamic images? I could create placeholders for 9 images, and hide if they aren't passed in, but that would leave blank space for the line items that don't have that many images. I could even combine all of the misc images into one bigger image before I passed to the report, but I still have the sizing issue.
Can't seem to figure out how to have dynamic sizing on the band, while still allowing multiple optional images.
Any ideas out there?

To solve your issue with blank space. You can set the band to not print when there is no data (would require 1 band for each picture/item. Or each component has a property 'Remove Line When Blank' which will compact the space if there is no data/images to show on that horizontal space.

How do I reduce the area of the bar graph and increase that of the text in Grafana? (make labels more readable)

I have long strings as labels which is the full identifier of each deployment. How do I increase the area that the strings occupy and reduce the area for the bar graphs in Grafana.
After many attempts, this is the closest that I have come to displaying label strings in a way that is readable. Ideally a table would also be nice, but I was unable to show a table in which the labels form a column (it always took the row)
You can't change that size. I would rather focus how to make labels shorter. (I would say that "max_Sum/" is not necessary there)
IMHO: the best option is to have a table panel for this - yes, you wasn't not able to achieve it, but you only need right query, result format + transformation eventually.

tableau adjust marks size using number

In Marks, click Size and there pops a slider where I can adjust the size of a shape. But how to accurately control the size, is there some property with numbers to accurately control it? I have two sheets to show something similar and I want to display exactly the same sized shapes.
If you want to ensure 'sizes' are the same across two worksheets, I'd suggest snapping the 'size' setting to the center on both, as this is the easiest option to select. You can then use a measure to set the size, if this is desirable, and then the difference in size will be relative on both worksheets.
There isn't a numerical value override for the size slider.
Ben is correct, there isn't yet a numerical value override for the slider. You can use parameters with Min/Max/Sum etc. and a variable to somewhat change the sizes but they have to have multiple entries per line. It is unfortunate that Tableau still doesn't get that people want both a 'relative' sizing system that uses numbers from the dataset and a 'static' sizing system that allows for shapes to be set to '11px' or something along those lines. Yes, you can control that kind of in the dashboard with a vertical and fill entire box etc; but that doesn't address the very real scenario where you want a user to be able to re-size on the fly. Just my two cents.
I ran into this today. Very annoying. Need to keep shapes the same size across all worksheets and therefore same on dashboard.

Vertically center report footer in remaining space on page

Is it possible to vertically center my report footer in the leftover space at the end of the page? The size of this leftover section depends on number of data rows.
There's no easy way to vertically center things in Crystal. Frustrating as it may be, there's no Vertical Alignment property on most things, and the Size/Position of things is static except when other objects push them around to make room for themselves.
However there is a ridiculously silly hack you can do to make this work.
Write a formula, let's call it SillySpaceFormula, that uses a loop to generate a certain number of return characters. Based on the number of records on this page, SillySpaceFormula will grow or shrink inversely. Set Silly's font size to be half the size of your details section. Then place this formula in a section above the orange-outlined box and set "Can Grow" to True.
If you do this just right, SillySpaceFormula will grow by one line when a record is removed and shrink by one line when a record is added. Because the formula field Can Grow, the orange box in your screenshots will be moved up and down automatically.

How to change the Height of bar chart dynamically

I want to change the height of bar chart based on Data dynamically. I tried different options but didn't succeeded. Can grow property is disabled in Charts. Do we have any option to change the height of chart dynamically.
Changing height of graph dynamically cannot be done in CR. And there is a very simple reason why is that. If you compare can grow option with character fields and graph there are several problems when applying can grow option in graphs
what is the limit of graph (max height)
if graph can grow, how to display it on several pages
if graph is empty, what then (in character field its empty field)
...
I think you understand what i am trying to say you. Since you have need for "different" sizes of graph i suggest you make several "sizes" of your graph in different sections and then show/suppress only one depending on your needs (messy but effective) since can grow option doesn't exist for graphs.
Hope it helps you

Jasper sub report border line not covering all tuple height

All Works fine but, rows margin do not cover all height. as shown in attached these two pictures.
How I am doing: I put rectangle in detail band, than sub report and other fields. on all fields, sub-report and rectangle i also apply stretchType="RelativeToTallestObject and isStretchWithOverflow="true" for warping up the text which works fine. I am facing this problem still unresolved.
As per my understanding: sub-Report fields are also stretchType="RelativeToTallestObject but didn't detect or get stretched of its main-report column. while if sub-report need extra space it will show properly. I have tried almost every thing available in iReport-Designer.
Drop figures. Use borders, preferably via report styles.
