The Roku media player provides a RESTful API with the following commands:
query/apps This ‘query/apps’ returns a map of all the channels installed on the Roku box paired with their app id. This command is accessed via an http GET.
keydown takes an argument describing the key pressed. Keydown is equivalent to pressing down the remote key whose value is the argument passed. This command is sent via a POST with no body.
keyup takes an argument describing the key to release. Keyup is equivalent to releasing the remote key whose value is the argument passed. This command is sent via a POST with no body.
keypress takes an argument describing the key that is pressed. Keyup is equivalent to pressing down and releasing the remote key whose value is the argument passed. This command is sent via a POST with no body.
launch takes an app id as an argument and a list of url parameters that are sent to the app id as an roAssociativeArray passed the the RunUserInterface() or Main() entry point. This command is sent via a POST with no body.
After I get a query a list of applications like so:
<apps>
<app id="5127" version="1.0.28">Roku Spotlight</app>
<app id="11" version="2.2.2002">Roku Channel Store</app>
<app id="28" version="2.0.20">Pandora</app>
<app id="12" version="2.4.6">Netflix</app>
<app id="13" version="3.2.7">Amazon Instant Video</app>
<app id="2285" version="2.1.1">Hulu Plus</app>
</apps>
I want to launch the Netflix (ID 12) application into a specific TV program or Movie:
POST /launch/12?foo=bar&someVar=someValue HTTP/1.1
Where foo and someVar are variables that I would send to Netflix that would correspond to that particular piece of content. However, I don't know which variables nor which values I need to send to the premium applications.
Is there any list of params that are accepted by Netflix/Amazon/Hulu/etc?
Currently these content providers do not provide an interface for launching content externally. The best you can do is use for example, the Netflix API to add content to the user's Queue. There are several 3rd party Roku channels that do this already, specifically Instant Watch Browser and MultiQ's, both are in the Roku Channel Store.
I recently wrote a small python script which enables me to control my Roku and launch and play tv shows and movies directly within Netflix/Hulu/Amazon/etc.
It makes use of the search functionality of the External Control API, and then follows up with a scripted series of keypresses to blindly play the first search result.
It seems to be working pretty well for me, so far! I have even wired it up to my Amazon Alexa, so I can launch just about anything I want, entirely by voice!

I am setting Facebook Pixel for the first time with the Conversions API and all my TestEvents are correct and I am receiving the events I am supposed to. But in every event under "Overview" I have this error:
No event parameters were detected. Use Test events to view the parameters of an individual event trigger.
I am new to this so I don't even know if this is an error or if it should work like that.
I am having a similar problem.
I am sending Custom Events. The Pixel and Server events are successfully deduplicating. Custom parameters are within both tags, however while the custom parameters are successfully being sent (& are hence visible in Events Manager Test Events) by the Pixel tags, the custom parameters are missing when viewing the Server Events in Test Events.
I have used both Custom HTML tags originally, and now the Facebook tag template, but and have endlessly tweaked the settings, but just cannot resolve this.
Let me know if you made progress!

I created a function in IBM cloud which displays some JSON data when invoked. I am trying to figure out how client can consume this information. I am unable to find any information on net. I would like to preferable access the function through HTTP request or if that is not possible do it through some python script. Does anyone have more information on how this can be achieved?
Depending on the nature of your action/function, there are different ways to call it. In any case, you can find the required information about URL (and API key), by clicking the action in the action panel, and select 'endpoints' from there.
If you created a 'plain' action (i.e. one that accepts JSON and returns JSON), you will have to use the API key shown on the panel mentioned above. You can find it -- and the URL to use, in the 'Rest API' section. At the bottom of this page, there is also a complete curl command, which you can just copy & paste (and where you only need to insert the API key).
In case you created a web action (see here for details: https://console.bluemix.net/docs/openwhisk/openwhisk_webactions.html#openwhisk_webactions) , you can call it anonymously. The URL for that is different than the one referred to above -- you can find it in the 'web actions' section of the 'Endpoints' tab.
I have a website which links to a chatbot built on IBM Watson Assistant. There are some hyperlinks on the website that I want to trigger specific nodes/ intents the watson dialog.
Example: User clicks on "Provide feedback" link, the watson chatbot launches and based on the link the "provide_feedback" intent is recognised (thus preventing the user from needing to specify the intent after clicking the link).
Has anyone tried this before?
I also came across this requirement and want to mention another alternative here:
Instead of sending an input text that matches the intent of your desired node, you can also pass
Intents to use when evaluating the user input.doc
and tell the assistant to match it with confidence of 1.0.
I think this is a clean method, because you don't need to deal with disambiguation of your input text.
Then you don't need to send input text at all and the intent actually does not even need example phrases :-)
For example if you want to trigger a node that has the intent #provide_feedback
you can call this python example code:
send_message_to_chatbot(text="", intent="provide_feedback")
def send_message_to_chatbot(text="", intent=""):
message = assistant.message(
assistant_id=ASSISTANT_ID,
session_id=SESSION_ID,
input=MessageInput(
text=text,
intents=[RuntimeIntent(intent=intent, confidence=1.0)]
)
).get_result()
return message
Prerequisite is of course that the node is in the root branch of your dialog so it can be triggered.
The Watson Assistant service basically is used via a REST API. That API is invoked from the "Try it" pane in the workspace editor, from your dedicated application or maybe from widgets embedded into a website. The message call is used to send user input to Watson Assistant and to receive a chatbot response.
What you can do is to call the message API from your app and pass a specific term as input message. That term would match an intent and hence trigger a specific dialog node. As an example, if you have an intent "provide_feedback" defined for the phrase "user pressed feedback button" and you pass in exactly that phrase as input message, then the intent "provide_feedback" will match.
In the DialogFlow console, you can set an input and output context for an intent.
I would like to have the same functionality using the Actions SDK.
Since I can set the context in my fullfilment webhook in the code, the output SDK is covered.
However, how do I set the input context for an intent to only trigger if that context was fetched?
I could not find this in the documentation examples.
I don't believe you can in the same way, which is part of why they added Dialogflow.
Although as part of your response you can indicate the ExpectedInput for the next Intent, the documentation for the ExpectedIntent makes it clear that your Intents are only used for speech biasing - you'll always get the built-in TEXT Intent.
In fact, this documentation says that you'll only get custom Intents for the initial call - later Intents are always triggered with a built-in one.
Update: One thing you can do is to include information in the response that will be sent back to you in the next request.
If you're using the JavaScript SDK, this is done with the second parameter to ask() and is available via the getDialogState() function.
If you're sending back JSON, this is done using the conversationToken attribute and is available in conversation.conversationToken in the request object you're sent the next round.
I have two questions:
Q: 1
I'm currently developing a GWT app. The entry point for the app is: ImageViewer.java. I could well access it by http://127.0.0.1:8888/ImageViewer.html?gwt.codesvr=127.0.0.1:9997. I have a service called "Search" which has corresponding "Async" and "Impl"'s defined. Now, I call the service from client side, using RPC. I could call the service, obtain return value. Everything works fine.
However, I expect the application to show a behavioral change on URL. i.e. when a service is being accessed, I thought it would be reflected on the browser's URL something like: http://127.0.0.1:8888/search?gwt.codesvr=127.0.0.1:9997 as I've modified web.xml. However, this behavior is not realized. Any particular reason why this is not reflected??
Q:2
This one is a reverse of the previous ques. i.e. I have an application running. Let's say it has an entrypoint class(Imageviewer.java) and another composite class (searchClass.java) which would be loaded on the Imageviewer based on an event. This searchClass invokes the "search" service mentioned in the previous question.
I could load the "searchClass" in "Imageviewer", invoke the service, and the service also returns the value needed. Everything works fine... But,
I need something like this: by just typing this query string:
http://127.0.0.1:8888/search?value=John
I want the "searchClass" to be loaded on the "ImageViewer", call the service using the value(which is "john" in this case) and display the result. Is this possible at all?
what I've tried: I have tried to create a httpServletClass on the server and mapped it with the URL and could do the search. The search returns appropriate results. However, I want the results from the server to be displayed on the client. Remember, I'm directly using a servlet to read the URL and so there is no value being passed from client to server.
Thanks in advance.
A: 1. To change URL, the hash part, you need to set new history token in the History class. More about history management in this article.
A: 2. For the second part you could achieve it by changing the history token, for instance "http://127.0.0.1/search#value=John". The history service will trigger an event if the # part changes. You could also use the part with "?", as in your example, if you use Window.Location , but it will cause reload of the application, which would put the whole idea of using GWT in question.
RPC (AJAX) calls are done Via XHR and do not change the browser URL.
You can't (with the URL you presented). GWT apps normally run in one web page, i.e. the URL does not change (see how gmail changes browser url bar). What you can do is enable GWT history support. Then your url would be http://host/#search?value=queryu
