I am trying to download images from server and display in 320 library's TTThumbsViewController. I am not able to get this working!
Following works for me when I have images locally stored:
//Create thumbnails
[ImageUtils checkAndSaveThumbnail:imageName andSize:CGSizeMake(100.0, 100.0) andLocation:NO andPrefixof:#"small"];
NSString *fullImageName = [NSString stringWithFormat:#"documents://%#",imageName];
NSString *imageSmallName = [NSString stringWithFormat:#"documents://small-%#",imageName];
NSString *caption = [tempDict objectForKey:#"Comment"];
UIImage *tempImage = [UIImage imageWithContentsOfFile:[appDelegate filePath:imageName]];
MockPhoto *tempPicture = [[MockPhoto alloc] initWithURL:fullImageName smallURL:imageSmallName size:tempImage.size caption:caption photoname:imageName];
[photoArray addObject:tempPicture];
Adding photoArray into MockPhotoSource:
self.photoSource = [[MockPhotoSource alloc]
initWithType:MockPhotoSourceNormal
title:#"Photos"
photos:photoArray
photos2:nil
];
[photoArray release];
...But when I give download location like following it doesn't work! Doesn't show me thumbnails and neither large pics!
NSString *url = [delegate downloadImageUrl];
MockPhoto *tempPicture = [[MockPhoto alloc] initWithURL:url smallURL:url size:tempImage.size caption:caption photoname:imageName];
[photoArray addObject:tempPicture];
I have been using same same URL with AsyncImage and it downloads image and show in ImageView fine!
NSURL *url = [NSURL URLWithString:[delegate downloadImageUrl]];
UIImageView *profileimage = [[UIImageView alloc] init];
AsyncImageView* asyncImage = [[[AsyncImageView alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0, 10, 60, 60)] autorelease];
asyncImage.imageName = [[users objectAtIndex:indexPath.row] objectForKey:#"Key"];
[asyncImage loadImageFromURL:url];
[profileimage addSubview:asyncImage];
Could you please let me know what's wrong am I doing with MockPhoto?
Thanks.

As the title says I'm trying to take a qr code like this - http://chart.apis.google.com/chart?cht=qr&chs=200x200&chl=044779-A55W6UZD&chld=H|0 and display it as a UIImageview. I've searched but couldn't find an answer anywhere. Please help.
I've tried this but it doesn't seem to work
NSData *receivedData = [[NSData alloc] initWithContentsOfURL:[NSURL URLWithString:url]];
UIImage *image = [[UIImage alloc] initWithData:receivedData];
UIImageView * myImageView = [[UIImageView alloc] initWithImage:image];
myImageView.frame = CGRectMake(20, 160, 200, 200);
[self.view addSubview:myImageView];
Try encoding the url like this and then use encodedUrl in the rest of the code:
NSString* encodedUrl = [url stringByAddingPercentEscapesUsingEncoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding];
You should also remember to release the objects you created, otherwise you leak memory.
NSData* receivedData = [[NSData alloc] initWithContentsOfURL:[NSURL URLWithString:encodedUrl]];
UIImage* image = [[UIImage alloc] initWithData:receivedData];
UIImageView* myImageView = [[UIImageView alloc] initWithImage:image];
myImageView.frame = CGRectMake(20, 160, image.size.width, image.size.height;
[self.view addSubview:myImageView];
[receivedData release];
[image release];
[myImageView release];
this is a part of my code. I'm using a asyncImageView .Everything work good. But now i want to save in the iphone all images in a path. I know i have to use NSFileManager but where?
EDIT: now i try with my code but nothing save when i compile on my iphone
// Configure the cell.
NSDictionary *dico = [self.pseudoOnline objectAtIndex:indexPath.row];
cell.pseudo.text = [dico objectForKey:#"pseudo"];
cell.sexe.text = [dico objectForKey:#"sexe"];
cell.age.text = [dico objectForKey:#"age"];
UIImage *image = [[UIImage alloc] initWithData:[NSData dataWithContentsOfURL:[NSURL URLWithString:[dico objectForKey:#"photo"]]]];
NSString *deskTopDir = #"/Users/***/Desktop/imagesOnline";
NSString *nomPhoto = [[cell.pseudo text]stringByReplacingOccurrencesOfString:#"\n" withString:#""];;
NSLog(#"pseudo%#",nomPhoto);
NSString *jpegFilePath = [NSString stringWithFormat:#"%#/%#.jpeg",deskTopDir,nomPhoto];
NSData *data2 = [NSData dataWithData:UIImageJPEGRepresentation(image, 0.5f)]; quality
[data2 writeToFile:jpegFilePath atomically:YES];
NSLog(#"image %#",jpegFilePath);
[image release];
CGRect frame;
frame.size.width=45; frame.size.height=43;
frame.origin.x=-5; frame.origin.y=0;
asyncImageView *asyncImage = [[[asyncImageView alloc] initWithFrame:frame] autorelease];
asyncImage.tag =999;
[asyncImage loadImageFromURL:[NSURL URLWithString:[dico objectForKey:#"photo"]]];
[cell.contentView addSubview:asyncImage];
return cell;
so now it works i can download all the pictures. But now i want to load them
I'm not sure what asyncImageView is, but it appears to get an image.
If it gets the image the way your code implies, you can put your NSFileManger method call right after:
[cell.contentView addSubview:asyncImage];
If, on the other hand, the asyncImageView fetches the image asynchronously (as it's name implies), then you should put your NSFileManager method call in asyncImageView's callback delegate.
Basically, as soon as you actually have the image, you can save the image.
Trying to use OpenFlow API for iPhone SDK.
I need the openflow to load pictures from a (image) link.
This is how it always works with local images:
loadImagesOperationQueue = [[NSOperationQueue alloc] init];
NSString *imageName;
for (int i=0; i < 10; i++) {
imageName = [[NSString alloc] initWithFormat:#"cover_%d.jpg", i];
[(AFOpenFlowView *)self.view setImage:[UIImage imageNamed:imageName] forIndex:i];
[imageName release];
NSLog(#"%d is the index",i);
}
[(AFOpenFlowView *)self.view setNumberOfImages:10];
And I tried this:
- (void)openFlowView:(AFOpenFlowView *)openFlowView requestImageForIndex:(int)index {
NSString *photoUrl = [[oldEntries objectAtIndex: 0] objectForKey: #"still"];
NSURL *photomake = [NSURL URLWithString:photoUrl];
NSLog(#"theConnection: %#",photoUrl);
NSLog(#"theConnection: %#",photomake);
AFGetImageOperation *getImageOperation = [AFGetImageOperation alloc];
// We're getting our images from the Flickr API.
getImageOperation.imageURL = photomake;
[loadImagesOperationQueue addOperation:getImageOperation];
[(AFOpenFlowView *)self.view setNumberOfImages:1];
[getImageOperation release];
}
But it just won't work. Can anyone help me?
Without knowing what 'won't work' it's hard to say, please clarify and supply the actual URL you are creating.
The only line that looks suspect is this one:
AFGetImageOperation *getImageOperation = [AFGetImageOperation alloc];
Should be:
AFGetImageOperation *getImageOperation = [[AFGetImageOperation alloc] init];
It's much easier to use:
NSURL *imageUrl = [[NSURL alloc] initWithString:[#"path/to/the/file.jpg"];
NSData *imageData = [NSData dataWithContentsOfURL:imageUrl];
UIImage *image = [UIImage imageWithData:imageData];
put all the images in an Array
and then you call you first function
for (int i=0; i < 10; i++) {
imageName = [[NSString alloc] initWithFormat:#"cover_%d.jpg", i];
[(AFOpenFlowView *)self.view setImage:**image** forIndex:i];
[imageName release];
NSLog(#"%d is the index",i);
}
[(AFOpenFlowView *)self.view setNumberOfImages:10];
I can't see any picture. Why?
UIImage *photoImg = [UIImage imageNamed:#"http://blog.leadcritic.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/favorite_animal_picture.jpg"];
UIImageView *imageView2 = [[UIImageView alloc] initWithImage:photoImg];
[self.view addSubview:imageView2];
Because if you use the code:
[UIImage imageNamed:#"mypicture.png"];
The image should be on the iPhone and not loaded from a URL. From a URL you need to use the following:
NSString path = #"http://blog.leadcritic.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/favorite_animal_picture.jpg";
NSURL *url = [NSURL URLWithString:path];
NSData *data = [NSData dataWithContentsOfURL:url];
UIImage *photoImg = [[UIImage alloc] initWithData:data cache:NO];
UIImageView *imageView2 = [[UIImageView alloc] initWithImage:photoImg];
You haven't set the frame of imageView2
imageView2.frame = CGRectMake( 0, 0, 100, 100 ); // Or whatever.
My app has to load an image from a http server and displaying it into an UIImageView
How can i do that??
I tried this:
NSString *temp = [NSString alloc];
[temp stringwithString:#"http://192.168.1.2x0/pic/LC.jpg"]
temp=[(NSString *)CFURLCreateStringByAddingPercentEscapes(
nil,
(CFStringRef)temp,
NULL,
NULL,
kCFStringEncodingUTF8)
autorelease];
NSData *dato = [NSData alloc];
dato=[NSData dataWithContentsOfURL:[NSURL URLWithString:temp]];
pic = [pic initWithImage:[UIImage imageWithData:dato]];
This code is in viewdidload of the view but nothing is displayed!
The server is working because i can load xml files from it. but i can't display that image!
I need to load the image programmatically because it has to change depending on the parameter passed!
Thank you in advance.
Antonio
It should be:
NSURL * imageURL = [NSURL URLWithString:#"http://192.168.1.2x0/pic/LC.jpg"];
NSData * imageData = [NSData dataWithContentsOfURL:imageURL];
UIImage * image = [UIImage imageWithData:imageData];
Once you have the image variable, you can throw it into a UIImageView via it's image property, ie:
myImageView.image = image;
//OR
[myImageView setImage:image];
If you need to escape special characters in your original string, you can do:
NSString * urlString = [#"http://192.168.1.2x0/pic/LC.jpg" stringByAddingPercentEscapesUsingEncoding:NSASCIIStringEncoding];
NSURL * imageURL = [NSURL URLWithString:urlString];
....
If you're creating your UIImageView programmatically, you do:
UIImageView * myImageView = [[UIImageView alloc] initWithImage:image];
[someOtherView addSubview:myImageView];
[myImageView release];
And because loading image from URL takes ages, it would be better to load it asynchronously. The following guide made it stupid-simple for me:
http://www.switchonthecode.com/tutorials/loading-images-asynchronously-on-iphone-using-nsinvocationoperation
Try this
NSURL *url = [NSURL URLWithString:#"http://192.168.1.2x0/pic/LC.jpg"];
NSData *data = [NSData dataWithContentsOfURL:url];
UIImageView *subview = [[UIImageView alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0.0f, 0.0f,320.0f, 460.0f)];
[subview setImage:[UIImage imageWithData:data]];
[cell addSubview:subview];
[subview release];
All the Best.
This is the actual code.
UIImageView *myview=[[UIImageView alloc]init];
myview.frame = CGRectMake(0, 0, 320, 480);
NSURL *imgURL=[[NSURL alloc]initWithString:#"http://soccerlens.com/files/2011/03/chelsea-1112-home.png"];
NSData *imgdata=[[NSData alloc]initWithContentsOfURL:imgURL];
UIImage *image=[[UIImage alloc]initWithData:imgdata];
myview.image=image;
[self.view addSubview:myview];
You should load the image in the background or the view will freeze.
Try this:
UIImage *img = [[UIImage alloc] init];
dispatch_async(dispatch_get_global_queue(0,0), ^{
NSData * data = [[NSData alloc] initWithContentsOfURL: [NSURL URLWithString:#"http://www.test.com/test.png"];
img = [UIImage imageWithData: data];
dispatch_async(dispatch_get_main_queue(), ^{
//PUT THE img INTO THE UIImageView (imgView for example)
imgView.image = img;
});
});
