So, we have multiple subscribers to our product (we have their emails). Till now we had just sent invoice to customers email addresses and waited for payment.
I know that all customers have paypal. Now I want to charge monthly through paypal. Is there a way I can charge multiple users at once? Something like mass charging - opposite of mass payments? Customers aren't subscribed through paypal, we just have their email addresses of paypal.
No. There is no such functionality.
You'll always need explicit permission from a user. Or in other words; they'll need to 'subscribe' to it.
Easiest way would be to create a subscription button via https://www.paypal.com/buttonfactory/ , ensure you're logged in to your PayPal account and get the 'Email' link (shown at the end) and send this out via email to all customers.

I'm trying to build out a process for users of my app to send money from their PayPal wallet to another user's PayPal wallet.
The idea is that there is no need for credit cards, just wallet to wallet transactions, so that there are no fees attached to the transfer (we're not taking payments or selling goods, just helping people settle their debts with friends and family)
Can anyone confirm whether this is possible with PayPal? And which API / method you would use for this? Thank you!
There is no API to send money without fees. Such functionality is available in www.paypal.com for users from certain countries using certain funding sources (their PayPal balance or a bank)
In general, sending money to another account can be done by adding a payee variable to a regular PayPal Checkout: https://developer.paypal.com/docs/checkout/standard/customize/pay-another-account/
Is it possible to transfer money from one PayPal account to another without touching my paypal account, but I get notified when the payment happened?
scenario:
Seller on my website uploads product
Buyer comes on the website and purchase
If Seller receives the amount from buyer
Me (the websites unlock product for download (money dosen't touch the websites account)
coding Language dosen't really matter, if not possible is it possible to a business account with automated payout to the seller?
Use PayPal Checkout with a server backend
Specify a payee object in the purchase_unit: https://developer.paypal.com/docs/checkout/integration-features/pay-another-account/
I'm building Invoicing system.
My client wants to send PayPal invoices without loggin to PayPal account.
I managed to make CreateInvoice() and CreateAndSendInvoice() functions to work (thanks to #Andrew Angell again!!!).
But now I need to "pay" the order. How do I act as a buyer, and pay the invoice?
There was no actually email sent to my box. I do see related record in 'notifications': "You've received an invoice XXX from YYY". But how, how do I "pay" it?
If you login to http://sandbox.paypal.com using the email address of the account that you sent the invoice to you'll see the invoice in the history just like a regular receiver would. You can pay it directly from there.
How can I get a sellers PayPal email account after I've successfully purchased an item on eBay?
I'm writing an application which makes a purchase on eBay via its API. When it successfully purchases, I receive a Transaction ID from eBay.
I now want to use the PayPal API to pay for this item, and require the sellers email address. I understand that their API has methods like GetTransactionDetails, but I'm making the request as a buyer, and also only have the eBay transaction ID.
Where can I get the seller's PayPal email address?
Thanks!
There is no API based approach to remitting purchases on eBay via PayPal.
After testing many different options and wading through the vast mess of eBay API "documentation" and raw responses, it's evident that the PayPal email address of the seller is NOT available unless you are the seller.
Trying to access this field as the buyer, despite being part of the transaction, will simply return "Invalid Data" in this field.
I'm assuming you're using the PlaceOffer call (from the Trading API) to purchase the item.
You can get the seller's email address using the GetItemTransactions API, and there would be a strong liklihood that that email address would be the same one associated with their PayPal account, but it's not guaranteed to be the same. For example, for large-volume sellers, they might have "sales#mystore.com" for their eBay contact but "payments#mystore.com" for their PayPal one.
I wanted to use Paypal's IPN service to verify payments for a recurring subscription charge for my website. How do you tie the IPN confirmations to a user in your site?
The IPN confirmation message has a name, email, paypal ID, recurring payment ID, but it seems to not give a unique identifier since I don't know where the paypal ID or recurring payment id comes from and it may not be trivial to uniquely match up the name/email that a user has on their paypal account (or entered there) with the name/email I have for them on my site (there may be many John Smith's and the person may choose to use a different email.)
1) When I send the initial payment request to Paypal, I can attach a unique UUID in the URL I ask them to send back to me, so if I save that unique ID for that user I can match that payment confirmation to the user who initiated it. Am I making that harder than it is? Is there an easier way?
2) Also, for a recurring/subscription charge, does paypal always use the URL I specified with the initial payment initiation? Does anyone have practical experience using the recurring Paypal payments with IPN's, does it reuse that unique URL? Or do I have to associate the Paypal ID's with the user after the first recurring payment is received?
Attaching unique data to the payment request is pretty much the accepted way to do it.
I don't have any experience with recurring charges.
I recently also set up some reoccurring payments with Paypal.
I actually wanted people to register as members after paying for the subscription, if they wanted to. As having to sign up as a member could add some friction to the sale process. So I don't send any user info along with the Subscribe button.
What my IPN script does is generate a unique activation code tied to the Paypal subscriptionID in the Activations table, then it sends this code to whoever paid for the subscription, with instructions on how to activate.
At the point of activation, you need to register or login. At this point the userID is added to the relevant row in the Activations table.
When the EndOfTerm IPN notification comes in the IPN script looks up the userID from the Activations table based on the SubscriberID given in the IPN. Then I can do whatever I need to do to that user to disable their subscription.
At all time the URL of the IPN script remains the same.
1) You can send an 'item_number' parameter with the initial subscription setup, which will get passed back to you. I'd suggest embedding an identification token in it.
2) If you mean the 'return' parameter, no, that's for sending the user to at the conclusion of the subscription setup. The renewal is automatic and doesn't 'ping' that page.
1) You want to be using the item_number parameter. Set this in your HTML form shown to the customer, and it will be returned to you by the paypal IPN, so you can put a database row ID in here, and use it to match up to the right person later.
