This concerns .ico format icons.
My thinking is:
16x16x8bpp (256 colors) - Legacy support.
32x32x8bpp (256 colors) - Legacy support.
16x16x32bpp (16M colors with alpha) - Natively supported on XP and up.
32x32x32bpp (16M colors with alpha) - Natively supported on XP and up.
48x48x32bpp (16M colors with alpha) - Natively supported on XP and up. Important for Windows Vista / Windows 7 desktop icons.
For the non-alpha channel images, if a lower color depth will properly accomodate the image, I will substitute a lower depth. For example, 16x16x4bpp (16 colors) might accomodate very simple logos.
(In particular I will omit the 256x256x32bpp for bandwidth concerns.)
Will most browsers of the IE7 era and up be able to work with this? Any other recommendations?

Yes, most browsers of the IE7 era and up will be able to work with that. Your thinking seems correct. Using the .ico format rather than the .png format is also more likely to work with any version of IE.

I have a doc file .I am attaching the doc file here.https://github.com/smidhunraj/doc.Now the font size is 6.5. I have to change the font size to 10.My condition is that the sentences should contain the exact words before and after the font size change. Is it possible. If so how can i do that
For example the first line when doc file is having font size 6.5 is
his mind that parnellite criticism, then very loud in the house, could be lulled by a good
When i change the font size to 10 it changes to
his mind that parnellite criticism, then very loud in the house,
Only this much word in the first line
how to keep it as in his mind that parnellite criticism, then very loud in the house, could be lulled by a good in the first line
even after font size change,This is to be followed for all lines.
.Please help me.
This is not a programming question and stackoverflow is a programers forum. Please visit the sister site superuser.com.
Ps. What you need to look at is font kerning, see Font kerning
But also, bigger fonts take up more space so inevitability you're going to hit a limit that you can't get it on a single line anymore. Reducing the page boundaries may be an option then.

I am searching for segmenting gray matter from a T1 weighted brain MRI scan. But I could not get the correct tutorial to follow it. Please suggest me an algorithm that works better and accurately to segment the gray matter alone from the T1 wieghted MRI scan image. There are several tools to segment gray matter in matlab but I need algorithm to segment the gray matter. Please suggest me the algorithm.
Why reinvent the wheel? SPM does a good job of segmentation and the MATLAB source code is freely available: http://www.fil.ion.ucl.ac.uk/spm/
You can examine the algorithm that is used and customize it for your own purposes if you wish. It produces probabilistic maps of gray matter, white matter, and csf that you can use in subsequent analyses. There are also a variety of options to complete the segmentation in both normalized and native space. I highly recommend it as a place to get started, and then you can branch off from there depending on your needs.

I am looking for color schemes designed specifically for programmers that can be used by many of the popular IDEs. Recently I've discovered Solarized. It's supposed to reduce eye-fatigue and after using it for a while i must say it's true. Although, I really don't like solarized's colors.
When I switched back to my old colors they were too damned bright. I was quite astonished by the effect the solarized colors had on my eyes.
I'm wondering if there are other themes designed with such a precision for wide range of IDEs (and even terminal colors!).
Another popular theme that you can check is zenburn. You can find that theme for any popular IDE.

Its just plain cumbersome to try out CGRect values for subview frames etc on paper and then on code and on the simulator. Get the wrong and you have to try it all over again. And so on.
Is there any tool out there for the iPad which simulates the screen XY system and on which we might try out placing views on coordinates and see how the layout looks like?
Thanks!
You should definitely invest some time on Interface Builder. Since you are developing for fixed sceen-size devices, you actually dont need advanced layout managers like the ones in Android or Qt. What you need most of the time is good alignment and spacing, and Interface Builder is perfect for that. I know, it feels like hard-coding everything, and it bothers you if you are a clean-code junkie, but that's the efficient way to go for iOS devices. For unknown number of items, or unknown length text which shouldn't be clipped, just use UITableVeiw's so it scrolls and shows the whole content properly.
The vendor (Apple) exploits fixed screen-size situation to the bone (that's why iPhone4 has exactly twice the resolution on both axis), so why wouldn't you?

Is there a handy tool to draw transparent icons for an iPhone app?
I know PhotoShop can do this, but I prefer a simple one.
Pixelmator is simple, quite cheap and popular on the Mac.
I find it too simple and prefer Gimp, which is nowhere near as simple to use, but is very powerful and free.
