Facebook hide content from non-fans in a unique way - facebook

I need to build a tab looking like this one:
https://www.facebook.com/auto.co.il/app_134594493332806
I know how to add an image and a comment box and i know of several "plain" ways to hide the content from non-fans, but i came across the above tab and i really like the way it shows thee content yet you cant engage it until you press the like button.
Any help please?
Thanks in advance.
Oren

Your link didn't work for me, but you can place a absolutely positioned div with a high z-index above the rest of your content to prevent the user from clicking on anything.
Update: Now that the link has been updated I see that they are doing exactly what I described above. In chrome if you right-click the background and select "inspect element" you will see the following computed style for the div:
rgba(0,0,0,0.796);
display:block;
height:1612px;
width:810px;
The content is blacked out simply with a div with a black background and some opacity. Just for fun, you can overcome their like gate (without liking) via chrome's JS console by selecting the iframe context and then entering the following:
$('.like_float_c').detach();
... now call youself a 'hacker' ;)

Div content shifts after page delay

I have an html file being served by Express, which also fetches data from an api. When I click a link in the navbar and switch routes (or the page is reloaded), the top navbar moves right, then left, and I can't figure out how to fix it.
If you look at the JSFiddle (link below), you'll notice that I have links to other pages, like /profile, /about, etc. Each time one of these pages loads, the navbar shifts (it's adjusting for the vertical scroll bar disappearing, then reappearing).
https://jsfiddle.net/h7bjyk63/5/
To mimic the api call, I added a setTimeout. To reproduce the issue and see what I'm talking about, you will probably need to run this code locally on your machine, and then refresh the page.
The strange thing is that this issue only occurs when there's some kind of delay (like an api call, or setTimeout). If I remove the delay and immediately load the content, everything works fine.
Some css code is commented out. The only key element I want to add later is position: fixed to fix the navbar to the top of the page.
How do I prevent the navbar from moving around?
The browser first renders the page without the scrollbar because it simply doesn't have to. Then you dynamically add few long paragraphs into the DOM, which makes the scrollbar to appear. This is what's causing your content 'shifting'.
The scrollbar is adding up to the width of your page. To prevent it from doing so, you need to do this:
html{
overflow-y: scroll;
}
I finally found something that worked, although I'm not 100% sure it's the correct way to do things. I just changed the width under the navbar--site-header class to 100vw instead of 100%.
DVN-Anakin's answer helped me understand the problem (and one possible solution), and this answer provided some additional good solutions.

Karma Wordpress template: Facebook icon for comments overlaps the default icon

If your look at this screenshot: http://cl.ly/image/1J3m2e2x1G1z, you'll notice that the facebook iframe element overwrites the Karma comment bubble. Could anybody help me with either removing the bubble alltogether of with removing the facebook element?
thanks
This can probably be fixed pretty easily with css. If you have a link to the site I can take a look at it and tell you what you need to add to your stylesheet. Also, t.thielemans is right, it would be best set up a child theme (Not nearly as complicated as it sounds) which would prevent the changes from going away if you update your theme.

JQuery Mobile Custom Select Menu is visible when unselected

I was having the same problem as this question:
jQuery Mobile 1.1.1 Custom Select Menu - Placeholder Text not Visible
The above question solved my problem by telling me to use 'http://code.jquery.com/mobile/latest/jquery.mobile.min.js'. That solved my original problem but caused another.
The select menu is always displayed and doesn't center on the select item like it did before.
After:
Does anyone know how to fix this. I think I might be able to hide and show the menu if that was the only problem that I was having, but even when selected it is not in the right position. It should be centered over the select element both horizontally and vertically (if given enough vertical space).
This is caused by the latest release of JQuery, but I also can't download 1.1.1 because it causes the original problem that I had which was solved in the other question.
Looks like the menu is displaying relative to the rest of the content - Try adding a css line on there
position:absolute;
on the menu structure - Another good way to test this would be to load up your site in google chrome and use firebug to see why the menu is positioning lower than the "click point." Just on glance it appears that the menu is appearing relative.

How to disable hover effect to highlight menu items in GWT MenuBar?

I am making a vertical Menu using GWT MenuBar and selection of particular MenuItem shows content on the right, I am trying to make something similar to TabPanel, but with Tabs on left instead of being on top. Now, since I've got the Menu items and actions in place, I want to remove the effect of hovering over and changing color, and keep that menu item selected which was clicked last and whose content is loaded on the right.
I am open to any comments, if you have a better solution to implement this, using some other components(with-in) GWT, please drop in a comment with your suggestions, I'll really appreciate that.
Or if you can just tell me how can I disable this effect, of hovering and sticking to only that selection, That would be awesome too..
Thanks to everyone, taking time to read this and suggesting a solution.
It's all defined in the CSS of your GWT's theme (probably the default one), so it's a matter of overriding those styles - make sure it's not the other way around :) Inspect the code with a tool like Firebug to see what's exactly being set and change that.

Confluence not showing tips on wiki markup

After an upgrade, our confluence installation doesnt show the "Help Tips" on wiki markup (a box on the right side of the edit pane which give basic informations on wiki markup). If I view the source, I see that the div is there, but with a display:none attribute. This lead me to think that there is an option somewhere to activate or deactivate this, but I cant find it.
Any idea ?
If you cannot find an option to show it again, and I can't but we are not using the default theme and it is visible
Try adding custom css to show it seems to have an id of helpcontent so you could do that.
Although this will affect other views if not precisely targeted
If it is a route you want to persue !
