I have created my website using wordpress 3.4.1 and, I tried sharing my webpage in facebook. I do not get any thumbnail or the basic blog description in the facebook post. Instead I get "No Title". I know this question has been asked a number of times in wordpress forums. But, most of them are leading to dead ends. Can some one help me in this regard.
PS: I tried using the facebook debugger (http://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug) I get the following
Error Parsing URL: Error parsing input URL, no data was scraped.
You need to add OpenGraph tags to your page, or even easier, finf a WordPress plugin to do it for you. Run the page through the debugger again and the issues should be fixed.
Just like what Niraj said you need to make sure you have the open graph meta tags on your blog. Here is a plugin which will add them http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/facebook-open-graph-meta/.

I have this forum running on phpBB3 forum software. It is working fine by itself. But when I try to add a forum post link on facebook, it does not show preview of the page. When I tried this with facebook debugger (https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/), it shows me RNF error (HTTP 404) for my post because it does not append required parameters to the URL.
This is what I see on the facebook debugger page -
Scrape Information
Response Code 404
Fetched URL http://mysite.tld/forums/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=25
Canonical URL http://mysite.tld/forums/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=25
Final URL http://mysite.tld/forums/viewtopic.php
Is there a way to tell facebook to consider the query parameters of the URL as well?
I did try adding og:XXX tags in the header but it didn't help in any way and I continue to see 404 errors in facebook debugger.
I do not think adding tags is a problem because I tried this URL in facebook debugger and it could feth the title and all other details correctly for this URL.
https://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=72&t=2120397
And I see that these forums do not have any face og:XXX tags here.
What might be causing problem for my forums and how can I fix it?
Any pointers, inputs would be highly appreciated!
TIA,
- Manish
I have already searched the questions here, and didn't find any pointer. I have already done my homework regarding facebook debugger and link preview, so not sure why it has been voted down.
I have figured it out. As it turned out - the bots didn't have the cookie set and hence were getting HTTP 404 response (a possible bug in custom style: fresco). Once I realized that this problem was due to cookies, I edited all the bots (ACP >> General >> Spiders/Robots) to use default phpBB style prosilver. Once that was fixed, facebook started showing link previews properly!
Facebook LIKE/SHARE functions are generally not working on my wordpress blog. I cannot LIKE or SHARE any new posts, but oddly if I have already LIKED a page, the SHARE function works fine.
The problem with SHARE is that the normal sharing window pops up, but there is no metadata populated in it. I've looked at the metadata in my blog posts and as best I can tell it is populated correctly by Wordpress. Additionally, I cannot find any differences in the metadata or code between posts that I have previously LIKED and ones that I have have not.
I've tried running the FB debugger/linter for a number of posts on my site and each one returns the message:
Error Linting URL: An internal error occurred while linting the URL.
I've tried googling this error, but cannot find any useful advice on what might be causing it.
Here is a sample post for people to examine this problem:

Thanks...
You should use Open Graph tags (see "Use proper Open Graph tags and large images to generate great previews" and "Using Self-Hosted Objects") in the header of your webpages to help Facebook determine what metadata needs to be shared.
Since you are using WordPress, you could either edit the template file in your theme that defines page headers (normally header.php) or use Facebook's official plugin.
When the URL's from my site diipad.com are copied and paste or shared directly from my site, facebook doesn't process the URL and it only display the same URL i mean the excerpt and thumbnail doesn't appear.
but if i paste the same link on http://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug it doesn't show any error and it does process the URL's ive checked my HTML structure and it's Ok, the metadata is the one included on the facebook wordpress plugin Open Graph.
Plaese i need help sorry for my bad english.
HERE AN IMAGE OF THE ERROR
Just because the FB debugger doesn't complain about your HTML code, doesn't mean it's all there (it doesn't raise errors for missing tags).
There are many Open Graph plugins for WordPress (just search for "Open Graph" on wordpress.org to see). You might want to give this one a try: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/nextgen-facebook/
js.
I'm creating a web app which uses Facebook feed dialog plugin in some pages. When I try to share these pages, the URLs posted to the news feed get truncated.
I'm using the direct URL approach. When the user wanna share something, she clicks in a link that is going to redirect her to the feed dialog. The link is composed as shown below:
https://www.facebook.com/dialog/feed?app_id=MY_APP_ID&link=SHARED_URL&redirect_uri=REDIRECT_URL
For example:
the URL I have in the "link":http://www.simplecity.com.br/DP/Index/?CID=0&UID=1
the URL I get in the news feed:http://www.simplecity.com.br/DP/Index/?CID=0
Has anyone already experienced this issue? Any suggestion?
The usual cause of this is forgetting to encode the link when you pass it into the Direct FB URL.
Are you forgetting to urlencode the link parameter (i'm especially thinking of the &) when creating the URL you're passing the user to?
I recently encountered the same problem with a straightforward link - I inserted:
https://example.com/page.html
into a page post. However, on the page it was rendered as:
https://example.com/page.ht...
as if the last two characters of the html extension were merely not displayed, as indicated by the elipsis. However, if you copy the link from the post you find that those chars are actually missing and the link resolves as 404. If you edit the post and reinsert the link, it is saved correctly, although the 'overflow' characters are still hidden by the elipsis. Very misleading.
What seems to work best is if you use the Facebook Developer OG tags in the page and then use Open Graph Debugger to scrape the link. This puts the URL in the FB realm and it picks up the correct link just fine. As you are doing this, the debugger tool gives you feedback to the effect: "This is the first time we have seen this URL"; which is baloney if you have put the URL on a FB page beforehand.
I have filed a bug report with Facebook; but I am not expecting them to own up to this bug.
I'm trying to integrate open graph in my website, so that I can post a link to my relevant facebook page and it will display the relevant information (title, description etc).
Yet, even though it worked for some time, now it only displays my domain name regardless of the link I post. No images, no descs, nothing.
I've created a test page to find out what's wrong, but I've come to a dead end.
The test page is W3C valid, the Facebook debugger is parsing all the information correctly, the preview before I post the link to facebook is correct, but when I hit post it displays nothing, just the url.
I've tried several actions such as different doctypes, commenting out the open graph metas, moving js after the metas, removing the meta content-type to no avail, but if you can help me post the test page correctly to facebook, I think I'll be able to find what's wrong with my site.
My website: http://www.accorda.info
The test page: http://www.accorda.info/test.html
My facebook fan page: http://www.facebook.com/accorda.info
Replace the meta tag or delete some. I don't understand… Facebook OpenGraph Debug tool show IMBb info for your page.
http://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/og/object?q=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.accorda.info%2Ftest.html
Remember, Facebook don't update page info real-time. New meta tags can be visible in 2 days.
