How can I determine the path of the currently open document in an OpenOffice or LibreOffice document? I want to forward the path to an external application.
More specifically I want to launch an external player from impress with a video file in full-screen mode:
Shell("/usr/bin/mplayer", 2, """ -fs"" some-file-in-same-dir-as-document.mp4")
For the last parameter I would need the path to the currently opened document in order to append it. Not specifying the path results in referring to the current path (as given by the CurDir() function) which is something different.
Is there actually a good reference for LibreOffice Macros? The only relatively good (but hard to search) document I have found is "OpenOffice Macros Explained" by Andrew Pitonyak.
In the meantime I have found a feasible solution. Look here:
Sub RunSomeMovie
GlobalScope.BasicLibraries.loadLibrary("Tools")
Shell("/usr/bin/mplayer -fs ", 2, "" & Tools.Strings.DirectoryNameoutofPath(ThisComponent.getURL(),"/") & "/media/somemovie.mp4")
End Sub
to get the current document path you use this simple command:
ThisComponent.getURL()
CurDir() is simply not reliable for all OS
BTW I found that info in the Pitonyak book you cited that I didn't knew and found very precious so thanks for sharing it.
I'm working with LibreOffice 4.2.0.4 and the following Code works for me:
Dim Dir as String
GlobalScope.BasicLibraries.loadLibrary("Tools")
Dir = Tools.Strings.DirectoryNameoutofPath(ThisComponent.url, "/")
The variable "dir" contains now the path of the current document.
Document has a location only if it is saved (or opened from a saved). In addition a Form opened from within LibreOffice Base does not have by its own a location. Only the odt has a location. Hence although:
ThisComponent.hasLocation()
returns True, the location is an empty string (consider it as a bug).
To obtain the location, in such cases, you have to access the "Parent":
ThisComponent.Parent.hasLocation() (or ThisComponent.Parent.getURL())
Of course you then have to "traslate" it to readable with:
Tools.Strings.DirectoryNameoutofPath

I want to build a simple script that may be useful for others as well, but I have only very basic programming knowledge and can't do it myself without learning how to write powershell scripts from scratch.
What this script is supposed to do is, open an INI file (really just a txt), look for a variable with an assigned value and replace that value from a txt hosted on GitHub, save and then run a program.
This is for the tracker list of qBittorrent, since that feature still hasn't been implemented and the only other script that I could find that does this is for linux and mac, there seem to be none for windows.
The basic idea is this:
get-content "c:\users\[user]\appdata\roaming\qbittorrent\qbittorrent.ini"
# This is where pseudo code starts
get file from "[github-link.txt]"
save file to cache # keeping it is useless as it gets updated daily
find variable "Session\AdditionalTrackers=" in qbittorrent.ini
replace value of variable with content of cached file # this is what I struggle with most when looking for example code. Everything I could find specified the exact string that needed replacing, which in this case is quite long and may change with every update of the file.
overwrite original file
launch program qbittorrent.exe
end script
Conveniently or most likely deliberately all (most) of the tracker lists on GitHub are already formatted in a way that they can be directly pasted into the file without having to worry about formatting. Example.
I can totally understand if nobody wants to do the work, but I would greatly appreciate it and possibly others that are looking for a stopgap for the lacking feature.
If this already exists, go ahead and call me an idiot and while you're at it drop a link ;)
I just found a little tool called Power Automate and it pretty much does what I was looking for. It's not quite as elegant as a single click script but it does the job. Sadly I can't share the "flow" I built because, well, there is no option for it - thanks Microsoft. So, I'll try my best to write it out.
Not quite a "solution" but pretty to close to it.
Here is the "flow":
get file from web // from github for example
read text from file // read downloaded .txt file
read text from file // read qBittorrent.ini
crop text // crop between flags in qBittorrent.ini use "Session\AdditionalTrackers=" as start and "Session\GlobalMaxRatio=" as end and save to cropVar2
crop text // crop before flag use "Session\AdditionalTrackers=" as flag and save to cropVar1
crop text // crop after flag use cropVar2 as flag and save to cropVar3
replace text // replace cropVar2 with content of downloaded file and save to cropVar2
write text to file // write cropVar1,cropVar2,cropVar3
end flow
Keep in mind that any changes to the qBittorrent.ini may change the order of the entries. Which means you have to check if it's still correct after every update and after every change you make in the options. This is a massive cludge after all...
You can input fail saves so that you won't break anything if the order changed.
When you use window and go to a folder, there will be a search box and when you write something there, windows will automatically search the folder and all subfolders inside it for the keyword (it searches the title and the content of all documents also).
I just wonder if there is a way to perform that similar action but in command prompt (I want to search all types of file: pdf, txt,...)
I have tried find and findstr but findstr only searches text file and for find it returns wrong result for me. Because I know for sure that for example the word 'dangerous' is in a document but the result from find is 0
Do you want it to search the filenames for the keyword or the actual contents of the file? In such case i think you will need to write a simple c++ program to stream the data of each file and search for the keyword that way
is there a way to get a file list recursively based on one file collection that points to a directory in fileadmin?
Currently I only got it to work with files directly in that directory, not also with files in sub-directories of that directory.
So instead of setting lots of file collections for each (sub directory)
I'd like to set only the "top"level directory (here "Kurs77") and have the files, even from sub directories, displayed.
Reason is, editors may add an unknown amount of (sub)sdirectories, and I'd like to have the files automagically displayed in the file list in the front end -- without the need to create an increasing amount of file collections.
cheers,
Tom
it seems that this is a missing feature. Check out https://forge.typo3.org/issues/61238. It seems that the underlaying API is able to do that.
So one solution would be to use TypoScript to make that work.
To give the correct answer now: The recursive option is of course available but it is part of the sys_file_collection record.
In TYPO3 9 this is working out of the box. pity is not showing folder as title, but recursive works:
how can we identify notepad files which is created in two computer, is there a any way to get any information about in which computer it was created.Or whether it is build in xp or linux.
If you right click on the file, you should be able to see the permissions and attributes of the file.
Check at the end of the line. Under GNU/Linux lines end with \n (ascii: 0x0A) while under Miscrosoft W$ndos it is \r\n (ascii: 0x0D 0x0A).

for identifying a word document but some of the info is relevant
To see on which computer the document had been created, open the Word
document in a hex editor and look for "PID_GUID". This is followed by
a globally unique identifier that, depending upon the version of Word
used, may contain the MAC address of the system on which the file was
created.
Checking the user properties (as already mentioned) is a good way to
see who the creator of the original file was...so, if the document was
not created from scratch and was instead originally created on another
system, then the user information will be for the original file.
Another way to locate the "culprit" in this case is to parse the
contents of the NTUSER.DAT files for each user on each computer. While
this sounds like a lot of work, it really isn't...b/c you're only
looking for a couple of pieces of information. Specifically, you're
interested in the MRU keys for the version of Word being used, as well
as perhaps the RecentDocs keys."
The one thing I can think on the top of my mind is inspecting the newline characters on your file - I'm assuming your files do have multiple lines. If the file was generated using Windows then a newline would be characterized by the combination of carriage return and line feed characters (CR+LF) whereas a simple line feed (LF) would be a hint that the file was generated in a Linux machine.
Right click one the file--> Details . You can see the computer name where it was created and the date.
i am a newbie learning sml and the question i am thrown with involves IO functions that i have no idea how it works even after reading it. Here is the 2 questions that i really need help with to get me started, please provide me with codings and some explaination, i will be able to trial and error with the code given for the other questions.
Q1) listdir(filename, directoryname), which given the name of a directory, list its contents in a text file. The listing is in a form that makes it easy to seperate filenames, dates and sizes from each other. (similar to what msdos does with "dir" but instead of just listing it out, it places all the files and details into a text file.
Q2) readlist(filename) which reads a list of filenames (each of which were produced by listdir in (Q1) and combines them into one large list. (reads from the text file in Q1 and then assigning the contents into 1 big list containing all the information)
Thing is, i only learned from the lecturer in school on the introduction section, there isnt even a system input or output example shown, not even the "use file" function is taught. if anyone that knows sml sees this, please help. Thanks to anyone who took the effort helping me.
Thanks for the reply, current I am using SMLNJ to try and do this. Basically, Q1 requires me to list the directory's files of the "directoryname" provided into a text file in "filename". The Q2 requires me to read from the "filename" text file and then place the contents into one large list.
Duplicate of: smlnj listdir
As a hint I will say that you have to make use of these functions:
OS.FileSys.OpenDir(directoryname) - this will open directory stream for you (Q1)
TextIO.openOut(filename) - this will open the file stream (Q2)
TextIO.openIn(filename)- this will open the file (Q2)
If you are stuck and dont' know how to do the progs then I will post the full code here, but i suggest you first give a try.
