This might be the known Eclipse bug I encountered a few month ago. The problem is related to a new implementation of Arrays.sort() in JDK 7.
If it is this bug, you need to install a newer version of Eclipse since the bug prevents you from updating (from within Eclipse).
Alternatively, you may try starting Eclipse with the system property java.util.Arrays.useLegacyMergeSort=true and then update the Eclipse platform.

I thought I successfully upgraded from CentOS8 to Centos Stream 8, however I was never able to get dnf distro-sync to work. Now DNF appears to be broken and dnf upgrade throws unsatisfied dependencies for libsmartcols.so.1 in relation to DNF itself.
dnf distro-sync:
When running the sync, the following appears:
Error:
Problem: The operation would result in removing the following protected packages: setup
(try to add '--skip-broken' to skip uninstallable packages or '--nobest' to use not only best candidate packages)
I tried every possible combination of --skip-broken, --nobest --allowerasing, etc. to resolve. Tried using the vault versions, no difference. All of the old CentOS repos were removed, so the only repos in the /etc/yum.repos.d/ folder are -Stream-. I do not have any EPEL repos installed at this time.
cat /etc/centos-release => CentOS Stream release 8
The server survives reboots and seems to work correctly for everything else.
When running dnf -y upgrade -v, the following results:
dnf -y upgrade -v

To diagnose the problem, try running: 'rpm -Va --nofiles --nodigest'.
You probably have corrupted RPMDB, running 'rpm --rebuilddb' might fix the issue.
The downloaded packages were saved in cache until the next successful transaction.
You can remove cached packages by executing 'dnf clean packages'.
I have tried cleaning the packages (dnf clean all), removing the cache files, individually trying to update/upgrade each package, etc.. I'm out of ideas.
Any suggestions?
Afer a couple more hours of trying, I was able to resolve it by performing the following:
Copy a CentOS-Base.repo file from another server
Edit the repo file to reflect the vault.centos.org location, turn off gpgcheck
dnf clean all
dnf install libsmartcols-2.32.1-28.el8
Ran dnf -y upgrade again and it worked. Go figure.
Hopefully, this will help someone else with the same or similar issue.
Summary
I try to install MYSQL community edition 8.0 on my Amazon Linux server
Command i have done so far
cd /home/ec2-user
wget https://dev.mysql.com/get/Downloads/MySQL-8.0/mysql-8.0.16-2.el7.x86_64.rpm-bundle.tar
tar -xvf mysql-8.0.16-2.el7.x86_64.rpm-bundle.tar
rpm -ivh mysql-community-server-8.0.16-2.el7.x86_64.rpm
I get the following error :
error: Failed dependencies:
libsasl2.so.3()(64bit) is needed by mysql-community-server-8.0.16-2.el7.x86_64
systemd is needed by mysql-community-server-8.0.16-2.el7.x86_64
What i tried by now
The library libsasl2.so.3()(64bit) is included in cyrus-sasl-lib
I tried to install it but still the same result
Here is the command i tried : sudo yum install cyrus-sasl-lib
Operating System
Linux ip-172-31-86-163 4.14.146-93.123.amzn1.x86_64 #1 SMP Tue Sep 24 00:45:23 UTC 2019 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
Expected Result :
Success
Error Message i have :
Failed dependencies:
libsasl2.so.3()(64bit) is needed by mysql-community-server-8.0.16-2.el7.x86_64
try
yum install /path/to/mysql-8...rpm
then yum will try to find the dependencies you need. If some dependencies cannot be found, you can try downloading them yourself, or enabling repositories. But be careful since you are trying to install recent software on an old os... I don't know if amazon has centos8 machines already, otherwise that would probably help you out :)
I am trying to install mongo db and to do that stdlibc++ dependencies are needed which are hard to get. so i need a command which can install all the needed dependencies by itself. Please help me on this.
uname -a
gives

and the error is like,
Error: Package: libcddb-1.3.2-12.el7.nux.x86_64 (nux-dextop)
Requires: libcdio.so.15(CDIO_15)(64bit)

I am compiling MongoDB from source with instructions from http://www.mongodb.org/display/DOCS/Building+for+Linux
I ran into this error after ran "scons all":
rty/js-1.7/jsscan.c
third_party/js-1.7/jsscan.c:112:22: error: jsautokw.h: No such file or directory

scons: *** [third_party/js-1.7/jsscan.o] Error 1

I am on a 64 bit ubuntu 10.04. gcc version 4.4.3 (Ubuntu 4.4.3-4ubuntu5), scons version is:
script: v1.2.0.d20100117.r4629, 2010/01/17 22:23:21, by scons on scons-dev
engine: v1.2.0.d20100117.r4629, 2010/01/17 22:23:21, by scons on scons-dev
Does anyone have the same problem? There are similar errors reported for this jsscan file in earlier versions, but has been fixed since.
Dude it worked! Do this:
sudo apt-get remove xulrunner-1.9.2-dev xulrunner-1.9.2
curl -O ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/js/js-1.7.0.tar.gz
tar zxvf js-1.7.0.tar.gz
cd js/src
export CFLAGS="-DJS_C_STRINGS_ARE_UTF8"
make -f Makefile.ref
sudo JS_DIST=/usr make -f Makefile.ref export
Then run scons all again
There is no need to uninstall "xulrunner-1.9.2-dev" and "xulrunner-1.9.2" as it's also uninstalls other packages you may need later.
Just install the newer version of scons package (I used for it scons-2.1.0).
Download scons-2.1.0.tar.gz
Install it and use the installed one instead of the scons v1.2.0 repository package for Ubuntu 10.04.
It worked for me without any additional tricks.
I have following packages installed on my Scientific Linux release 6.0 (Carbon):
eclipse-svnkit-1.3.0-3.el6.x86_64
eclipse-rcp-3.6.1-6.13.el6.x86_64
eclipse-swt-3.6.1-6.13.el6.x86_64
eclipse-platform-3.6.1-6.13.el6.x86_64
eclipse-subclipse-1.6.5-6.el6.x86_64
eclipse-phpeclipse-1.2.1-6.el6.noarch
svnkit-1.3.0-3.el6.x86_64
Everything was working fine uppon installation, I haven't used my Eclipse in a while and now when I tried using I'm missing Subversion part (subclipse). I've tried removing and reinstalling all of these packages but that didn't help me solve my problem, so I'm kind of lost at this point... any ideas?
here is few more related packages that I have installed:
[alexus#wcmisdlin02 ~]$ sudo grep javahl /var/log/yum.log
May 14 14:01:38 Installed: subversion-javahl-1.6.11-2.el6_0.3.x86_64

subversion-javahl-1.6.11-2.el6_1.4.x86_64
[alexus#wcmisdlin02 ~]$
Whenever I try to do File-New I only get "General" and "CVS" (I think you get them when installing regular eclipse, I dont get PHP or SVN)
run as root
$ su -
# eclipse -clean
