I am using the ice plugin for TinyMCE by the NY Times. It is a great track changes plugin. The problem is that it seems to interfere with the regular underline behavior of TinyMCE. I can underline text, but upon saving that text, the underline is removed.
Bold is appropriately saved as:
<p><strong>uuuuuuu</strong></p>
Italics is saved as:
<p><em>uuuuuuu</em></p>
But underline is saved as:
<p><span>uuuuuuu</span></p>
Finally, no style is saved as:
<p>uuuuuuu</p>
So for some reason the style:"underline" is being stripped from the span tag. Removing ice fixes the problem, but we need track changes. Any help would be great!

I would like so if it's possible in the Tinymce editor to disable the color with the copy past from Word for example.
Thanks for the help.
If you console.log value in onEditorChange event of editor after pasting the text, you can see style="color: red;" is added in the pasted text.
In onEditorChange you can use regex to remove color property from style, and then set the edited value.
onEditorChange={(value) => {value.replace(/color(.*?);/i, "")}}
Check this example
Note: The code is according to tinymce react component. You may need to change some code if you are not using tinymce for react
Using the tinymce wsywig editor, is there any way to disable the fact that using text will be italic automatically ?
Thanks in advance and regards,
Ofer
to clarify what's happened, are you setting some content in the editor to appear when it loads? If so, you can control how content is styled when the editor loads with the setup function. Add something like this to the TinyMCE.init script:
setup: function (noItalic) {
NoItalic.on('init', function () {
this.setContent('<p>This text is not italic</p>');
});
}
It might be that you have a custom style set up that puts italic tags on everything automatically.
Check your tinymce.init script for a content_style value and see if the font-style is set to italic;. If so, remove the font-style option or set to normal.
If neither of these fit your situation, please post some more details – how you've configured TinyMCE with a code sample so we can see the text content in italics.
Our product is used by many corporate and government bodies.
Many of them are only allowed use IE and have security policies applied to their IE which they are not allowed adjust.
One such setting is the disabling of downloading web fonts.
We have work around in place to check if the font can be downloaded.
If not, we replace all <i> on the page with <img>.
var haveFont = detectFontIcons();
//Iterate over each icon on the page and replace if necessary
if (!haveFont)
$('[class^="mce-i-"]').each( function(e) {
console.log("Found element = ", this);
// Replace all <i></i> with <img>
....
}
}
This works fine for all our custom Html.
The Problem:
For some reason it will not work for tinyMCE <i> tags.
I have adjusted the class prefeix to allow for the TinyMCE 'mce-i-'.
It finds no elements in the DOM with 'mce-i' even though I can see them using firebug.
I have even set a timeout on the call to do this check, incase it was an issue with the DOM not been fully rendered yet. No luck.
Questions:
1: Any ideas on why no TinyMCE elements are not been found?
2: How can I update tinyMCE to use images directly instead of web fonts?
Thanks
I can't take credit for this, but I found a font-free, custom skin that replaces the fonts with images. I added the skin, updated my init method and it appears to work as I'd hoped.
It can be found here:

i am using tinymce with the bbcodes-plugin. In generally, its working nicely, most of the bbcodes like [b] and [color] and so forth are transmitted into html within the textarea and safed as bbcodes into the database correctly.
The thing with font-size is the following, when formating a string the first time it is correctly changing its size and is safed correctly as bbcode into the database.
But when i open that record again to edit it, the bbcode is not converted to html, so in the textarea there is something like
"[size= medium]rfeferf[/size]" instead of the text in the right size.
Do you have any hints on this? Ive been searching the web yesterday and today, didnt find anything that could solve this.
Regards, Maschek
This is caused by BBCode plugin in TinyMCE unable to transform [size] tag back to HTML. I've logged a TinyMCE bug #5327 with a fix patch attached. You can download latest TinyMCE source, apply the patch and compile it (or wait until the patch is reviewed and released).
The related source code is located at plugins/bbcode/editor_plugin_src.js
im working on a CMS it is almost finished
but im struggling serious unfamiliar problems in WYSIWYG editor.
i was first using ckeditor but after experiencing problems with it i switched to tinymce.
some problems are solved but this time someother problems showed up.
problems occuring especially on tables.
1-Anchor element underline removal not working
2-Duplicating Phone numbers
--->might be due to skype phone number converting toolbar
3-too many s how to clean those why even those are there?
4-how to convert
<p>text</p>
back into just
text
because tinymce converting some texts into p element *automatically if it's not the client doing it unknowingly.
*=even though i did that force_paragraph:false setting.
5-As client reports : sometimes cursor turns into loading cursor and wysiwyg editor causes browser to stuck.not even allowing to click links outside of the editor.
6-as i experience sometimes it really does stuck and not allow you to edit anything at all.
here is that problematic page created with tiny_mce and causing lots of errors in process of editing:
Here some answers
2-Duplicating Phone numbers --->might be due to skype phone number converting toolbar
Might be - this cannot ba a tinymce related problem.
3-too many & nbsp;s how to clean those why even those are there?
Browsers will show several spaces (character code 32) as a single one. Thus & nbsp;s are inserted alternating instead of natural spaces.
4-how to convert
text
back into just text
Tinymce is a rte editor and will generate html code. In order to be able to style editor content, the content need to be wrapped inside a block element - eighter ps or divs. You may use server side code to remove tags.
6-as i experience sometimes it really does stuck and not allow you to edit anything at all.
Please describe a bit more in detail - there needs to be a reason for this.
