Has there been a recent change to the functionality of the Like Box "data-height" parameter functionality? This designation used to allow developers to set the height of the feed regardless of the usage of the other features such as "show faces." It appears that now this parameter will only respond to allow for more faces to be shown, rather than actual postings.
My company has built a few sites that utilize this functionality, and up until last month, the widgets' "data-height" specification was working fine. Now there is no response from this unless "show faces=true." The display of several other client webpages is now being compromised, and will require attention unless this issue can be resolved.
Is there a current work around for this? Is this a bug? If not, is there a timetable to when the previous functionality will be restored?

I have an existing fitness site ( showing exercises on different pieces of equipment) with menus available depending on whether the user is logged in.
Not sure of the best way of doing this but I would like to access the site via a touchscreen kiosk which will show a different welcome page and menus.
I know it can be done as a clone site which would mean copying all the execise data but is there a way for typo3 to recognise the type of device, assign it as a certain user and allow user level control of the content shown?
Regards
Paul
Device detecting is very complicated and TS conditions that should work were removed from TYPO3 core some time ago.
If it is important (and possible) to detect one kind of device you may create your own TS condition (userfunc).
But maybe another option would solve your problem:
Configure another page type which gets your modified layout for the start page.
Then you only needs to make sure the inital page is called with that specific page type.
An automatic login will be complicated. maybe it would be possible to use a permanent login, where a session cookie without endtime is stored.
If you're using TYPO3 version 8.7, you could use the extension aoe_ipauth (https://extensions.typo3.org/extension/aoe_ipauth/) to automatically log in a user based on IP address. There are several other extensions that do this, but I think most of the others are old and don't work in 8.7. There don't seem to be any that support TYPO3 9.5 yet.
We're looking for a solution on how to best deal with the situation where multiple authors are working on the same page. If the first author pushes in the content, the second should have a way to merge it when he tries to publish. Launches appears to be a way to take care of this but it doesn't seem to be handling content merging. Is there any way an author can view the diff(and or do merge) of the content that might have been pushed by another author while they were working concurrently ?
Please help with any pointers.
Page modifications happen in real time to the underlying structure. They also happen at as small a level as possible.i.e. If you go into a text area and modify the text there, the text node is changed on the server, you aren't saving the entire page.
The only way that person A could interfere with what person B is doing is if they were working on the exact same area of the page. Which, honestly is a process issue. I say this because the answer to your question is that there is nothing out of the box to handle this type of scenario and if you are on 6.0 or higher and looking at the JCR3. JCR3 handles this far worse than the older version did. Last time I checked it didn't support nodes at all
Adding to what Bailey said, AEM OOB allow multiple users to edit same page in real time, though if multiple users are working on same node will be a reason of conflict. Such cases can be managed by defining a process like:
1. Take a lock of page and edit page or
2. Create versions of page and publish versions
I'm going to be creating a Concrete5 website that will feature product listings. The listing system must offer all your typical ecommerce features, minus the ability to purchase items. It's strictly for browsing purposes only.
For example:
- Browse by category
- Search products
- Listings/results page with thumbnails and brief information (title, description, price in US/CAD, manufacturer, maker, etc.)
- Products single page (with detailed information, attributes and gallery/images)
All the things you'd expect to find in a listing system.
My issue is I can't find a specific add-on for something like product listings. This leaves me thinking that it may be best to use the e-commerce add on and do my best to hide anything related to the cart/payment process. That way it could just be used for everything else it offers.
What are your thoughts on this? Is there a better option?
Thanks for the advice!
Use the page list block. It has everything you need except for searching. But, in essence, that's what your requirements call for -- listing of pages.
Create a page type for your "product". The "brief information" can be in the Content block, or you can set as attributes. You'll probably want to make some minor changes to the block's view (by creating a new template) that displays the image as you want, the proper attributes, etc. Something similar to http://www.concrete5.org/documentation/how-tos/designers/styling-the-page-list-block/
There are several adanced page list blocks in the marketplace. You might want to start with those.
Right creat Page type.
After creat Page attributes.
Add a block page_list create a template for it and filter by attributes.
You can even use ajax to filter.

U can find here about page_list or read documentation Concrete5.
We got a customer looking after an event called Floriade placed in the city of venlo in the Netherlands. This point of interest is sometimes shown on the autocompletion under Floriade 2012. I say sometimes shown as we used to see it, then it disappeared, now it is back again.
1-How can I be sure that the autocompletion (through Google Places API) is showing this point of interest ?
2- What is enabling a point to be in this autocompletion or not ?
If a place has a Google Places page, e.g http://maps.google.com.au/maps/place?cid=14788366310032789085 it is guaranteed to be returned by a Places Autocomplete API.
You may have experienced a bug in the API. If it occurs again please report it on the issue tracker: http://code.google.com/p/gmaps-api-issues/issues/entry?template=Places%20API%20-%20Bug
Another way to guarantee that your application will show a place is to perform a 'Place Report Request' using the Google Places API with your API Key. This will instantly add a place and make it available to your API Key, then if the place is approved by Google if will be available to anyone.
Cheers
Chris
I know pop ups are not good and should be avoided if possible but is that really true that now, whenever i think of using a pop up, i should always be considering other options? Are there any exceptions? And the last question is: what is the default replacement for pop ups?
You can use any javascript based dialog. Look for example at jQuery UI Dialog
The "Web2.0" pop-up might be a lightbox. I hope these are just a passing fad, because they are kind of annoying (a lot like pop-ups).
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lightbox_(JavaScript)
Banners, like you get at the top of Stack Overflow to tell you about badges, comments, see the FAQ if you're a new user are my favorite. They don't really get in the way and can link to the main content.
It depends on what you are trying to accomplish. Pop-ups are completely acceptable in certain contexts. The aversion to pop-ups arose from having pop-up foisted on users in the form of advertisements. I think that pop-ups are still a valid device in the correct case.
My rule of thumb is to not make any decisions for the user that they can make themselves. This typically includes opening a pop-up since they could right-click and choose "open link in new window" if they so desired.
Do you want to capture of a piece of user input without allowing any further interaction? A modal dialog is your friend.
there are cases where you want to offer a bit of useful info or a quick reference that doesn't necessitate closing off the rest of the web page or navigating to a different location. This could be addressed using some javascript and floating div's but many times a pop-up will do what you want without being obtrusive to a user.
I tend to read resources from the likes of 37 signals and UIE to keep up with the best ways to enhance user experience without alienating a user.
