Crystal report multiple date count - charts

I am trying to create a crystal report chart that counts the number of opened and closed tickets of each month.
Example they opened 10 tickets but 15 were close (7 from the same month 8 from other months).
When I try to generate the report I can get either the open or the closed working. I know the problem is with the grouping (if grouped by the submitted date the submitted date is right but the closed is wrong because of ones from other months and vis-a-versa).
I have tried overlapping the reports but the problem with that is the auto scale could be different for the reports and fixed scaling is not an option.
Because the data is filtered to return all rows with a submitted date or a closed date is greater than one year ago. I use a sum to count the records
example:
if submitted > 1 year ago
1
else
0
same for closed
For the display I need a bar chart where the two groups are sorted by the month. One bar for the ones opened in that month and one bar for the closed of that month.
Similar situation but I can't modify the sql.
One record in multiple Groups within Crystal Reports XI

I'll offer my solution based on years of wrestling with Crystal.
Do your data processing in the database (stored procedures) or core application (C# or whatever), then hand off a simple table or two to Crystal.
This makes your reports lightweight and easy to maintain (or move to another reporting tool later on) and puts the "guts" of your logic in plain code that can be managed in source control.
I'm sure you could get it to work in Crystal, but next month you will forget how it works and your coworkers will be even worse off. Let Crystal do basic formatting and render a pretty report, but do the hardcore data processing elsewhere.
Spend an hour feeding Crystal simple data rather than spending an hour configuring 5-level-deep options in the Crystal designer.

Financial formulation in Crystal Reports

I need help with creating a trial balance report for a specific tenure, from beginning of fiscal year to a selected period. I need this in Crystal Reports.
I am unable to formulate how can I get debit and credit amounts totalling from beginning of the fiscal year till the end of selected period (not YTD).
For example, I want to get a trial balance report till period 6 (June), I am able to get the balance at the end of period 6, but unable to formulate total credits and total debits for selected number of periods/months. Instead, it is either debit/credit amounts for June or it's for total debit/credits till date.
Can anyone help me please?
Create a formula that returns, for each record, it's dollar amount if it's within the target date range, otherwise, zero.
Sum that formula to get the total for that time period.
I'm a user of the DelmiaWorks/IQMS ERP solution as well. IQMS uses a stored procedure to populate a database table named "C_TRIAL_BALANCE_AS_OF". When you publish a report into IQMS, there is a field named "Execute Before Print" on the Edit Report Definition window that opens when edit a report. To run this stored procedure in conjunction with another report, you will want to choose "POP_C_TRIAL_BALANCE_AS_OF" in the drop-down box control for this field. This will ensure the procedure is run prior to the report so you have the account balances you need as of a specified date. When the report is executed, IQMS will present the user with a Date Picker for the As Of Date. Almost all of the data you need to do a Trial Balance report can be found on this calculated table. The only joins needed should be "V_GLYEAR_PERIODS", "V_GLACCT", and "EPLANT".
There is a built-in report that may do what you want already though. If you begin the Trial Balance module and then click "Reports" > "Print" to bring up the list of all reports, then look for one named "Trial Balance As Of". Even if this report is lacking some information you need, it will likely be much easier to edit this existing report than it would be to create one from scratch.
If you don't have this built-in report, you may be able to get a copy of the RPT file from their support department. As long as you have the Trial Balance module, you should have this report. Its a standard report that is included in every version of IQMS I've worked with. However, my experience is limited to the 15.3 and 2020 versions.

Crystal Reports 11 - New page after each parameter

I am running Crystal Reports 11 and I have a report that has 7 subreports that it pulls and when done, is multiple pages long. I have three parameters I ask for. I want to change one of the parameters to allow multiple fields so I don't have to keep refreshing it but I want the report to repeat for each field value I add.
Example, the report asks for month. I want to put in January, February and March into the field value. The report then should run for each of those months and give me one large report where January and all January data is back to back and then goes to February, etc.
Is this possible?
Thanks.
Jayson
Group the report at level one by Month.
In the Group Options tab (or in the GF1 section), turn on the 'New Page After' option.

Want to create 2 columns with different period parameters from the same data in SSRS

I want to create a monthly report, calculating the % from the previous 2 month average from the previous 12 months average. Basically I want to see which shops have dropped in sales in the previous 2 months, and hopefully only show the shops that have decreased 20% in sales.
So i believe the columns need to be like this
Shop|Products|Avg of 12 months|Avg of 2 months| %
Since i have many entries for the sales, i also need to sum the previous 12 months and then average it... as well as sum the previous 2 months and average it
I have thought of some ways to do it, but it didnt seem to work and seems all too complicated and complex.
Im hoping if there is a simpler solution to this? Do i need to use pivot table?
I'm using PostGres 9.1 on Visual Studio 10
Thanks a bunch
When something seems too complicated to resolve with a single query, I create and populate a DataTable runtime and pass it to ReportViewer.
In this case you can:
create a DataTable with Shop and Product as a PK (if you want print the report for a period of months you can also add Month as PK). The other 2 columns will be Avg12Months and Avg2Months
insert a record for each combination of Shop/Product (and eventually Month)
for each record Shop/Product calculate and save the results for Avg12Months and Avg2Months
pass your DataTable to ReportViewer
use a single Tablix to display the results (sort, grouping and other operations can be done in the Tablix)
Some passages can be combined in order to speed up the process.

Backward looking back log report

I'm trying to write a backlog report in Crystal Reports XI attached to Fluke Met/Track database (Sybase back-end)
I have it running between a start & end date, then grouped by Month and then Day.
I need it to show all of the units that were in the lab on the days between the start & end dates
October Units
2
22525
22526
3
22525
22526
22527
4
22526
22527
22530
The order of the units doesn't matter, just that the units are showing up.
Maybe I'm just having a rough day, but I'm not seeing how this can be accomplished.
You can accomplish this by adding a group for your date, opening up the Group Expert, click your Group click Options, then you should see something along the lines of "The section will be printed:" and you can select: for each day.. This should allow grouping for each day.

Crystal reports crosstabs column grouping

I'm trying to build a cross tab report in Crystal XI that has dates, grouped by the month as column heading, and have 2 questions I'm trying to find answers to.
1: Is there any way to display a month even if there are no records to be summarized in that month? i.e. no orders for March, but want to display Jan, Feb, Mar.? I'm pretty sure I can create a dates table and use that spoof it, but don't want to go that route as the database is part of a Vendor's package and I don't want to get to crazy in there.
2: Is there a way of specifying or limiting how many columns go across? For example in a forecast cross tab I only owant current month and the next six months to show up. I suppose I can do a date range on the selection criteria, but that seems a bit kludgy to me.
Thanks for any answers
Short answer: No.
I've seen discussions about workarounds involving creation of temporary tables, but I've never tried any such solutions myself.
I would go with the date range on the selection criteria. You could make those dates parameters for more convenient useage. If you have sevral cross-tabs that should have different date ranges you could put the crosstabs in sub-reports.
