How to remove UITableViewCell border using storyboard - iphone

I want to know if is there a way to remove the border in a UITableViewCell (grouped style) using the Interface Builder and storyboard.
I'm using static cells too.
does this have to be made by code?
thanks!!

You could create two cell types and assign accordingly.

Glossy button (similar to UISegmentedControl) in UITableViewCell

I have a grouped UITableView with a row per section. I would like the same effect as the UISegmentedControl button (glossy/3D-ish/Modern look). What's the best way to do this without tearing down my UITableView methods code?
Thanks
You don't need to tear down the tableView methods code...
Just have to customize your tableViewCells. Here you can seen how it should be done.
You'll need a glossy background Image or draw it yourself in code dynamically (not recommended)
You can customize UIButton and use it in your cells, or you can directly customize cell background view and text label to make it look like a button.
For customizing the background of the cell: Setting background image of custom table view cells
You may also consider using a simple, ready-to-use custom button component. It also provides a custom cell that you can easily use in your tableviews.
Looks like:

iPhone UITableViewCell with checkbox

I have a custom-subclassed UITableViewCell which will include a few labels, to which I want to add some checkbox functionality. One question label and five options are multi-selectable in that UITableviewCell subclass
Since I'm already in a cell, is it possible to use UITableViewCellAccessoryCheckmark to imitate checkbox functionality? Another option would be to navigate to another tableview using UINavigationController, but I want the user to see the options in the same page.
Also, since I don't know the number of options beforehand, is it possible to design this custom cell using a XIB and yet still dynamically add some items (for example UISwitch, or UIButtons) at runtime? Or do I have to code it all without using a XIB?
In short, Yes.
UITableViewCell is a subclass (somewhere down the way) of a UIView. That said you can insert a UITableView in it and create your checkbox allike cells. Think of it as nested tables:
Table of questions -> question cell -> table of answers -> answer cell.
So what you want to do is to make your custom UITableViewCell implement UITableViewDelegate and UITableViewDataSource then you want to insert an UITableView in the IB.
When you want to show your question cell with 4 answers you would pass a parameter of answers as a NSArray to the custom UITableViewCell. It then will use it to create inner cells that will behave as answer cells.
Hope that helps.

Can I subclass UITableView to make it a specific style?

Basically I want to re-style UITableView(Controller). Each cell will have a picture as a background and such. this tableview will be used throughout the app thats why I want to subclass it, because I want to be able to define the style once and then reuse it everywhere, but still be able to change things per view. For instance, I'd like every cell to have the same blue background and a specific font, but I might want to change the font in one view, or make the cell taller/shorter. You get the idea.
Can I subclass UITableViewController and create the style in the methods in that? Then subclass MyCustomUITableViewController when I want to create a table view? Or would it better to subclass UITableView and then [self.view addSubview:(MyCustomTableView *)tableVie]?
Thanks
Tom
You will probably want to subclass UITableViewController to define relevant UITableViewDelegate methods, but I think that the real work will be in subclassing UITableViewCell to get the look that you want.
UITableViewCell is a UIView, so it can have a background color and it can contain a UILabel, for example.
Your -tableView:cellForRowAtIndexPath: will need to instantiate your UITableViewCell subclass (or load it from a nib) - and then configure it appropriately. I.e., setting text, image, font, etc.
Hope this helps.

How do I hide the UITableViewCell border for a custom cell in a group tableview?

What I am trying to do: I want three buttons side-by-side in a tableviewcell just like in Contacts app.
What I've done: I have a custom tableviewcell with three uibuttons in it. I've set the background color of the tableviewcell to be transparent.
What I can't figure out: The tableviewcell border is still there! Everything looks great except for the border floating around the 3 buttons.
Am I doing this completely wrong? Or is there a simple way to remove/hide the border?
Thanks!!!
Don't put these in a cell. Simply create a custom UIView that contains the three buttons, and use that view as your Table's footer:
[myTableView setTableFooterView:customUIViewWithButtons];
Good luck!
What about if I want my transparent cell in the middle?

Multiple Cell Images

Can you place more than one image in a UITableViewCell?
Yes.
You can have 2 images per cell, without customizing.
imageView
accessoryView
You can also add images to the contentView.
The standard UITableViewCell only supports one image (via the imageView.image property).
However, you can make a custom subclass of UITableViewCell and add the desired number of image views.
The simplest way would be to set a custom view (with any number of images) as the cell's contentView.
You could create a custom view and set it as the cell's contentView property. AppleĀ“s Table View Programming Guide for iPhone OS explains in good detail possible strategies for customization of an UITableViewCell.
