Array display issue - zend-framework

I have a database table ("buildings") in MySQL consisting of 3 columns:
Name
Place
Number
I have created a dropdown list in my view page which contains the names of the buildings and also a textarea.
Now, depending on which name the user selects, the textarea should be populated with the respective place and number of the name of the building. I’m able to get the result but I want the output to be more readable. Right now, the format of the output is as:
Array
(
[0] => Array
(
[Number] => 14
[Place] => Cambodia
)
)
Is there anyway I could get the output to be as simple as:
Number : 14
Place: Cambodia
Her's the model code:
<?php
class Application_Model_Building extends Zend_Db_Table_Abstract
{
public function getname($name)
{
$db = $this->getDefaultAdapter();
$auth = Zend_Auth::getInstance();
$select = "SELECT * FROM buildings where name = $name";
$stmt = $db->query($select);
$result = $stmt->fetchAll();
print_r ($result);
}
}
?>

instead of echoing the array dump, try:
foreach ($result as $vals) {
echo "Place: ".$vals["Place"]."<br>Number: ".$vals["Number"];
}
as other posters have commented, you should read about php arrays so you know why this makes sense

how to use insert record function in moodle

I am trying to insert record into my database using moodle.
I am using version 1.9.19. i am trying the following code :
<?php
require_once('config.php');
require_once('uplo.php');
$mform = new uplo();
$mform->display();
if(isset($_POST['submitbutton'])){
$name = $mform->get_data('name');
$email = $mform->get_data('email');
$table='mdl_tet';
$res=insert_record($table, '$name','$email') ;
}
?>
But this is not working correctly. How to do that correctly.
Note : Why am using 1.9.19 means my client using this version so i cant change the version.
The insert_record() function takes two parameters - the name of the table (without the prefix) and an object containing the data to insert into the table.
So, in this case, you should write something like:
$ins = (object)array('name' => $name, 'email' => $email);
$ins->id = insert_record('tet', $ins);
OR:
$ins = new stdClass();
$ins->name = $name;
$ins->email = $email;
$ins->id = insert_record('tet', $ins);
(As an aside - make sure you turn on debugging - https://docs.moodle.org/19/en/Debugging - it will make your life a lot easier).

ZF2 - Show just one error on forms

I can't seem to get ZF2 to show just one error message for failed form validation messages.
For example, an EmailAddress validator can pass back up to 7 messages and typically shows the following if the user has made a typo:
oli.meffff' is not a valid hostname for the email address
The input appears to be a DNS hostname but cannot match TLD against known list
The input appears to be a local network name but local network names are not allowed
How can I override the error to show something a little more friendly, such as "Please enter a valid email address" instead of specifics like the above?
OK, managed to come up with a solution for this. Instead of using the same string as the error for all validator failures as Sam suggested above, I have overridden the error messages in the InputFilter for the elements and then used a custom form error view helper to show only the first message.
Here is the helper:
<?php
namespace Application\Form\View\Helper;
use Traversable;
use \Zend\Form\ElementInterface;
use \Zend\Form\Exception;
class FormElementSingleErrors extends \Zend\Form\View\Helper\FormElementErrors
{
/**
* Render validation errors for the provided $element
*
* #param ElementInterface $element
* #param array $attributes
* #throws Exception\DomainException
* #return string
*/
public function render(ElementInterface $element, array $attributes = array())
{
$messages = $element->getMessages();
if (empty($messages)) {
return '';
}
if (!is_array($messages) && !$messages instanceof Traversable) {
throw new Exception\DomainException(sprintf(
'%s expects that $element->getMessages() will return an array or Traversable; received "%s"',
__METHOD__,
(is_object($messages) ? get_class($messages) : gettype($messages))
));
}
// We only want a single message
$messages = array(current($messages));
// Prepare attributes for opening tag
$attributes = array_merge($this->attributes, $attributes);
$attributes = $this->createAttributesString($attributes);
if (!empty($attributes)) {
$attributes = ' ' . $attributes;
}
// Flatten message array
$escapeHtml = $this->getEscapeHtmlHelper();
$messagesToPrint = array();
array_walk_recursive($messages, function ($item) use (&$messagesToPrint, $escapeHtml) {
$messagesToPrint[] = $escapeHtml($item);
});
if (empty($messagesToPrint)) {
return '';
}
// Generate markup
$markup = sprintf($this->getMessageOpenFormat(), $attributes);
$markup .= implode($this->getMessageSeparatorString(), $messagesToPrint);
$markup .= $this->getMessageCloseString();
return $markup;
}
}
It's just an extension of FormElementErrors with the render function overridden to include this:
// We only want a single message
$messages = array(current($messages));
I then insert the helper into my application using the solution I posted to my issue here.

Result binding in mysqli

In the following example, can any folks show me how to code the binding part as I select all fields from the table
$stmt = $mysqli_conn->stmt_init();
if ($stmt->prepare("SELECT * FROM books")) {
$stmt->execute();
$stmt->bind_result( **WHAT DO I PUT HERE** );
$stmt->close();
}
In bind_result, you put in the variables where you want to fetch the data into, instead of using an array returned otherwise.
$stmt->bind_result($col1, $col2, $col3, $col4);
while($stmt->fetch_assoc())
echo "$col1 $col2 $col3 $col4";
Alternatively, if you don't want to bind the result
while($resultArray = $stmt->fetch_assoc()) {
echo "$resultArray[columnName1] $resultArray[columnName2] ...";
}

Symfony Zend Lucene Search Multiple Tables

I have a Symfony project and I used Zend Lucene Search framework to integrate a search on the site. It works beautifully but it's limited to searching 1 table.
I need my users to be able to search the whole site (8 select tables) and return the results all together. Each table has the same fields indexed. This is the code that specifies the table and calls the query.
Is there a way to make it look through all 8 tables for results?
public function getForLuceneQuery($query)
{
$hits = self::getLuceneIndex()->find($query);
$pks = array();
foreach ($hits as $hit)
{
$pks[] = $hit->pk;
}
if (empty($pks))
{
return array();
}
$alltables = Doctrine_Core::getTable('Car');
$q = $alltables->createQuery('j')
->whereIn('j.token', $pks)
->orderBy('j.endtime ASC')
->andwhere('j.endtime > ?', date('Y-m-d H:i:s', time()))
->andWhere('j.activated = ?', '1')
->limit(21);
return $q->execute();
}
To give a bit of background on the 8 tables, they are all basically similar. They all have title, make, model, etc so I need to run a single query on all of them and return all results (regardless of which table it is in) in Ascending order. The Doctrine_core::getTable command doesn't seem to like multiple tables or even arrays (unless I'm not doing it right). Thanks!
UPDATE (WORKING):
Here is the updated code. This is what I have in the SearchTable.class.php file:
public function getForLuceneQuery($query)
{
// sort search result by end time
$hits = self::getLuceneIndex()->find(
$query, 'endtime', SORT_NUMERIC, SORT_ASC
);
$result = array(
'index' => $hits,
'database' => array(),
);
// group search result by class
foreach ($hits as $hit)
{
if (!isset($result['database'][$hit->class]))
{
$result['database'][$hit->class] = array();
}
$result['database'][$hit->class][] = $hit->pk;
}
// replace primary keys with real results
foreach ($result['database'] as $class => $pks)
{
$result['database'][$class] = Doctrine_Query::create()
// important to INDEXBY the same field as $hit->pk
->from($class . ' j INDEXBY j.token')
->whereIn('j.token', $pks)
->orderBy('j.endtime ASC')
->andwhere('j.endtime > ?', date('Y-m-d H:i:s', time()))
->andWhere('j.activated = ?', '1')
->limit(21)
->execute();
}
return $result;
}
Here is what I have in the actions.class.php file for the Search Module:
public function executeIndex(sfWebRequest $request)
{
$this->forwardUnless($query = $request->getParameter('query'), 'home', 'index');
$this->results = Doctrine_Core::getTable('Search')
->getForLuceneQuery($query);
}
And finally this is my template file indexSuccess.php I have simplified it so it's easier to understand. My indexSuccess.php is more complicated but now that I can call the values, I can customize it further.
<div class="product_list"
<ul>
<?php foreach ($results['index'] as $hit): ?>
<li class="item">
<?php if (isset($results['database'][$hit->class][$hit->pk])) ?>
<span class="title">
<?php echo $results['database'][$hit->class][$hit->pk]->getTitle() ?>
</span>
</li>
<?php endforeach ?>
</ul>
</div>
This works beautifully. I was able to customize it by calling each of the fields in the search results and it works perfect. I added an item to each of the tables with the same title and the search result pulled them all. Thank you so much!
OK. I'll try to give you some hint, with code :)
First of all you should add these fields to the index:
$doc->addField(Zend_Search_Lucene_Field::Keyword('class', get_class($record)));
$doc->addField(Zend_Search_Lucene_Field::UnIndexed('endtime', strtotime($record->get('endtime'))));
Than you should use these new fields:
public function getForLuceneQuery($query)
{
// sort search result by end time
$hits = self::getLuceneIndex()->find(
$query, 'endtime', SORT_NUMERIC, SORT_ASC
);
$result = array(
'index' => $hits,
'database' => array(),
);
// group search result by class
foreach ($hits as $hit)
{
if (!isset($result['database'][$hit->class]))
{
$result['database'][$hit->class] = array();
}
$result['database'][$hit->class][] = $hit->pk;
}
// replace primary keys with real results
foreach ($result['database'] as $class => $pks)
{
$result['database'][$class] = Doctrine_Query::create()
// important to INDEXBY the same field as $hit->pk
->from($class . ' j INDEXBY j.token')
->whereIn('j.token', $pks)
->orderBy('j.endtime ASC')
->andwhere('j.endtime > ?', date('Y-m-d H:i:s', time()))
->andWhere('j.activated = ?', '1')
->limit(21)
->execute();
// if you want different query per table
// you should call a function which executes the query
//
// if (!method_exists($table = Doctrine_Core::getTable($class), 'getLuceneSearchResult'))
// {
// throw new RuntimeException(sprintf('"%s::%s" have to be exists to get the search results.', get_class($table), 'getLuceneSearchResult'));
// }
//
// $results[$class] = call_user_func(array($table, 'getLuceneSearchResult'), $pks);
}
return $result;
}
After that in the template you should iterate over $result['index'] and display results from $result['database']
foreach ($result['index'] as $hit)
{
if (isset($result['database'][$hit->class][$hit->pk]))
{
echo $result['database'][$hit->class][$hit->pk];
}
}
And there are same alternate (maybe better) solutions that I can think of:
Alternate solution #1:
You can store data in the index and this data will be accessible in the search result. If you not need too much data when displaying the results and can update the index frequently I think this is a good option. This way you can use pagination and no SQL queries needed at all.
$doc->addField(Zend_Search_Lucene_Field::Text('title', $content->get('title')));
...
$hit->title;
Alternate solution #2:
As you wrote, your tables are very similar, so you maybe could use column aggregation inheritance. In this way all data stored in one table so you can query them all together and can order and paginate as you want.

fql_query returns "Array" instead of name

I am trying to create a simple fb app that retrieves the name of the user using fql_query.
Code :
require_once 'facebook.php';
$appapikey = 'xxxx';
$appsecret = 'xxxx';
$facebook = new Facebook($appapikey, $appsecret) ;
$user_id = $facebook->require_login();
$q = "SELECT name FROM user WHERE uid='$user_id'";
$name = $facebook->api_client->fql_query($q);
echo "Name : $name[0][name]";
Output:
Name : Array[name]
Can you tell me what's going wrong here?
Thanks!
Mistake is in this line:
echo "Name : $name[0][name]";
you are including $name[0][name] in quotes, this should be
echo "Name : {$name[0][name]}";
or
echo "Name : ".$name[0][name];
An FQL query always returns an array, even if there is only one item in the result. Think of the result as rows in a normal SQL query.
Any time that I use arrays or database/API calls in PHP I print_r($array_name) to see what was returned. So this:
$name = $facebook->api_client->fql_query("SELECT name FROM user WHERE uid=$user_id");
print_r($name);
Should return this:
Array
(
[0] => Array
(
[name] => First Last
)
)
Another thing, I never put tick marks around values/variables in FQL.
$q = "SELECT name FROM user WHERE uid=$user_id";
$name = $facebook->api_client->fql_query($q);
But when you print the value you should put single quotes around the reference to the named index (in this case, 'name') and you should not wrap it all in double quotes:
echo "Name : " . $name[0]['name'];
