Crystal Report Formula missing - crystal-reports

Problem:
The formula name 'Decimals' gone missing after I comment-out the code block.
Step by step illustration:
1.When I open my crystal report file it prompt this error.
2.After that when I try to F5 (Refresh) to get the output, it shows this error.
3.Then I comment out the whole code block. The error didn't appear anymore but now I cannot find back the formula.
Please guide me on how to revert back the changes. Thanks in advance!!

The reason the report 'works', is because you are viewing a copy with saved data. When you refresh the report, CR tries to rebuild it. It can't find that DLL, so it raises an exception. Find a copy of that DLL and add it to the appropriate, shared directory (the directory is version-specific).
If you can describe the logic, perhaps we can help you eliminate the need for the UFL.

Rather than double-clicking the RPT file, open it from within Crystal Reports. It looks like the app associated with .rpt is a hex editor.

install4j project report generates empty html file

I'm reviewing install4j (9.0.7, windows 10) and have created a simple java installer with some additional screens to enter custom variables that we use to configure our product.
The installer that is generated seems to work ok.
Because it is recommended for search purposes (to see were for example you are using custom variables) to generate a "project report" I tried this and to my surprise it generates an empty html file of 0kb in size.
Is this a "bug" or did I miss something that I should have done before generating the project report.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
This is a regression that can happen in 9.0.7, it will be fixed in the next bugfix release. Please contact support#ej-technologies.com to get a build where this is already fixed.

DCA files cause build errors

I am working on a VB6 application and I have requested to change the platinum gray style forms' to our new format.
In order to do that, I have first modified the Backcolorattribute as H8000000E (it was H8000000F previously) for labels, frames and forms.
Those forms were saved with .Dsr extension.
Each form is having three fils with .Dsr, .DCA and .dsx extensions.
After I modified the Backcolor, I compiled the code and it ran successfully. Then I close the project, reopen it and run again.
Then I got the Error in Loading DLL error.
We didn't commit the .DCA files to git. But once I committed one .DCA file and it caused a build failure. But this is occurring without even commit any changes.
I am still unable to find a reason why this occurred.
Could anybody please help me with this?
Thank you.
I removed the .DCA files set and it resolve the problem.
DCA is a temporary type information cache file created by Visual Basic. It is used by VB to speed up compilation.

How to copy a report in SQL Server Reporting Services 2008

I have a report that I created in SQL Server Reporting Services 2008.
I now want to create a new report, that is very similar that the one I already created.
How do I do that without writing the report from scratch? Can I just copy the .rdl to a new name? How will Visual Studio "pick that up"?
Thanks!
Just one last comment on Amarundo's callout:
"Diego, that's the thing. I can right click the report (under Solution Explorer) and select copy, but can't find where to past. Or if I copy the .rdl file, I don't know how to add that to my project."
If you right-click on a report item in the Solutions Explorer, the Copy option is available. However, the Paste option never becomes visible, even when you have a report item in your clipboard. However, the object is there, and you can paste it by pressing ctrl+v.
I think it was just a UI miss on Microsoft's part.
I confess that I did not know the answer to this question, so I tried. I copied and renamed one of my reports, added it to my project, uploaded to SSRS and ran it.
Seems to be working fine, so I guess the answer is yes
[In recent versions of Visual Studio, you can simply copy and paste in the solution explorer window and rename the file there. This answer will work with older versions of VS.]
The easiest way I've found to do this:
In BIDS, after creating the original report, right click on the project or reports folder in the Solution Explorer pane and select Add -> Existing Item...
In the resulting dialog, copy and paste your first report, which will give you something similar to "Report1 Copy.rdl"
Rename the copied file to your new report name.
Select the new file again, so that this name is selected in the File name text box.
Click the "Add" button.
Yes, there is no problem with adding multiple copies of identical .rdl's. There are no unique identifiers in the .rdl file.
Easiest way is copy the required .rdl file from Reports Folder (which is in the Solution Explorer Window -> Project Dropdown List) and then right click your project name (which is on the top of the same window). Select the paste option and your project will be duplicated with the name of Copy of (copied .rdl file name).
I had been copying reports for a while. One of the copies started to have a problem with a sub-report not being able to show when the report was run. The sub-report ran fine by it's self. After looking at the XML code in the RDL, I found that next to the last line was a ReportID GUID. Most of my reports shared the same GUID, including this report and it's sub-report. After getting a fresh GUID for the sub-report the problem was cleared up.
The only process that I could find to generate a new GUID was to delete all Data Sources in the report. Then delete the ReportID line in the XML. Then re-add a Data Source, which caused the VS2010 to crash. Once VS2010 recovered I was able to re-add the Data Source, which replaced the ReportID line in the XML with a new GUID.
I was able to create a new report in VS and instead of adding a new item (.rdl) in solution explorer I added an existing item, the .rdl from the report I wanted to copy. I changed the name of the .rdl and changed the SP in the dataset and it worked like a charm.
Yes. Right click your report ending with .rdl, select copy, and then select your folder and paste with ctrl-V. You can see as Copy of yourReport
Copy the RDL file from Prod source code to the Report server
Find the REPORTS URL by opening Reporting Service Config. Manager from Start btn
Open the Report Mgr URL option from left pane – goto to the URL listed in there
Find the folder the Rpt belongs in based on you organization method, and open that folder
Click Upload File at the top, browse to the copied file – Replace/Overwrite existing
Find Report in the report list, click its dropdown, choose Manage
Choose Datasources from the left pane
Choose a Datasource that the report will use from this list
Click Apply, and double click to run the report

Crystal Report corruption

Unsure if anyone on here could lend a hand, but I thought I'd give it a shot. Google wasn't too useful.
I have a report that I was working on all yesterday in Crystal Reports XI. I thought it was all good and working, so I closed the file (big mistake). Now, I try and open it again, and it's not letting me.
I get the following errors:
"An Ole object in this report could
not not be loaded. It has been
replaced with a blank object"
So then crystal tries to load my report with it's changes (I think), and then I get:
" This document could not
be opened. It does not appear to be a
Crystal Report document. This document
has the expected file extension
(.RPT), but it seems to be corrupted.
If this report used to work, try
opening it with a different version of
Crystal reports and if that still does
not work, please contact your
administrator".
I don't have another version of Crystal to check it with, and I'm pretty much the local admin for crystal, and I have no idea what to do.
Crystal wasn't letting me save over previous versions of this report yesterday, and now none of the 6+ versions I have are loading.
Can anyone suggest anything to help?
I got around this error by recreating the entire report.
I have no idea what the issue was, but after I spend 2 hours recreating it, it now works as intended.
I'm guessing that if anyone else receives the terminal Corruption error, they should just throw it away and start again.
You can try opening it in Visual Studio, which may or may not have the same version of Crystal. But it's a binary file, and if that gets munched, I'm not sure you have much recourse.
