How would you go about performing a task once day?
In my case, I need to check if contact information has changed. (Contact information is in a big CSV file on amazon S3).
One way I thought is to save last date checked into a file then read it back from it when the application starts. But I feel that's so amateur.
Should I use core data? (Tested it a long while ago, just popped in my head).
Is there any better way of doing it?

You can achieve this by using NSUserDefaults on your AppDelegate.
An easy representation for saving;
[[NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults] setObject:#"YourDateHere" forKey:#"lastAmazonCheckDate"];
[[NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults] syncronize];
And retrieving;
[[NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults] objectForKey:#"lastAmazonCheckDate"];
With NSUserDefaults you can save the last time you checked for your list.

_lastUpdate is a NSDate object
_lastUpdate = [NSDate date];
- (NSDate*)egoRefreshTableHeaderDataSourceLastUpdated:(EGORefreshTableHeaderView*)view
{
return _lastUpdate;
}
so like this you can check and update your task everyday i think you know this as you mentioned but i also have the only solution for now.

Something went wrong. We're working on getting it fixed as soon as we can.
Where is a problem? Couple days ago, i can create a other app with no problems.
Update: If i want to make some changes on other applications on app settings tab, also click save and this error comes up.
Check here the progress on fixing the bug: https://developers.facebook.com/x/bugs/629640800428208/
edit: it's working for me now. ( 2014.01.08 19:10 GMT+1 )
You don't need to worry about it. They must be working on something. So they must have disabled the functionality for the time being.

I'm already finishing an app and I would like to make a tutorial embedded in the App, like those that appear as an overlay, explaining the functionality of every button, in the app until the user taps the screen.
Another option could be to show a tutorial the first time a user opens the app, but I don't know how to identify if is the first time a user opens the app.
Does anyone knows a good tutorial that shows how to do this?
Thank you!
Follow this link HERE. Its a tutorial for a tutorial you are trying to create using UIPageViewController.
and here is how you can detect the first time user loads the app:
- (BOOL)application:(UIApplication *)application didFinishLaunchingWithOptions:(NSDictionary *)launchOptions
{
if ([[NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults] boolForKey:#"HasLaunchedOnce"])
{
// app already launched
}
else
{
[[NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults] setBool:YES forKey:#"HasLaunchedOnce"];
[[NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults] synchronize];
// This is the first launch ever
}
}
Hope this helps!

I have an app that generates some text and I would the user to be able to copy it using the tap of a button so that he can paste it somewhere else in the iPhone.
I would also like to be able to access any text that the user had already copied from another app on the phone.
The UIPasteboard class might be exactly what you're looking for.
EDIT
Here's a brief example:
NSString *myString = #"Text to be copied";
[[UIPasteboard generalPasteboard] setString:myString];

call-for-help: we are keep getting the illustrated error after hitting "save changes" in the application settings dashboard ... the changes are saved though ... any link where we can report our app issue?
http://awesomescreenshot.com/046la8j4f
This is not a problem with your app..
This happens sometimes because your app server might have taken a longer time to update on FB servers and the connection timed out...
Nothing to worry about you an try again
I had the same issue and solved it by checking all the icons and screenshots. I made sure that they all was in the same format (.png) and then it worked!
I guess the issue, for me, is that i used different formats.
