Error in eclipse: “The project cannot be built until build path errors are resolved” - eclipse

My eclipse project shows up but with a red exclamation mark and an error saying:
Build path specifies execution envoirnment JRE-1.1. There are no compatible JREs installed in the workspace
Unbound classpath container : 'JRE System Library [JRE -1.1]' in project Automation
I checked if all the libraries are present or not as mentioned in the error, and tried to import the missing jar into project but when I clicked on JRE System Library [JRE -1.1] to import it. its showing
"An error has occurred. See error log for more details.
java.lang.NullPointerException"
Can somebody help me out with this?

I was getting the same NullPointerException in Eclipse that came with Android SDK, then I did the following (explaining in step by step process):
Go to Help and click on Install New Softwares.
A Install window will open, click on "All available sites' and then there will be a text box to search for the softwares you want to install, enter 'Eclipse' there.
A lots of Eclipse related softwares will come up. Select Eclipse Platform, Eclipse Platform SDK and Eclipse SDK and then click Next...Next...(and all the Next)...Accept All the Agreements...Finish.
In some time it will install all the softwares and you'll have to restart the eclipse and you'll be good to go.
This resolved my issue. Hope this helps you.

I am using eclipse Juno. It was fine with SDK 22. After update the SDK to 23.0.2 when I am trying to install any update. It shows the above message. It also shows "No update found" message.
Please help me out.
Thanks in advance
What was happened with me is some of ADT Plugin is conflicting. Though when I restart my eclipse, it's shows a dialog with update your ADT Plugin and after "Check for updates" its shows "No update founds". It happens every time I restart my eclipse.
So I go to Help -> Install new software and tried to update it manually and found that some of ADT Plugins are conflicting. e.g. DDMS, Development Tools, Hierarchy Viewer etc. So I uninstall them.
To uninstall any plugin Help -> About Eclipse -> Installation Details -> Select the plugin -> Uninstall (You will find that at bottom of the window).
Then I restarted my Eclipse, went to Help -> Install New Software -> Select ADT Plugin from drop down menu and updated it.
Then it just working fine with me. May be you can try this with your own risk. Happy coding... :) :) :)

plugin doesn't show after deployment in the eclipse

I have created an eclipse plugin and it works fine when I'm running it using run as eclipse application. But when I deployed my plugin in the eclipse using File->Export->Deployable plugins and fragments, I cannot see it under new wizard.
I can see my plugin under installed plugins.
Any help why I cannot see it under new wizard list?
UPDATE:
My plugin shows under plugin registry view and when I'm diagnosing it says "no problems detected".
Can anyone help why it's not visible?
Quite often this is due to a missing dependency.
Check the "Plug-in Registry" View of your Eclipse installation for your Plug-In.
Right click on any plugin and check "Show Advanced Options".
Search your plugin, right click it and clcik on "Diagnose".
It should show you missing dependencies, if there are any.

Error: Could not find or load main class com.google.gwt.dev.Compiler

What steps will reproduce the problem? and how i can solve this problem
IN Eclipse Indigo, right click on project name --> google --> GWT Compile --> Compile
I got error that says
GWT compilation failed
In Eclipse console window, I got error message that says
Error: Could not find or load main class com.google.gwt.dev.Compiler
I am using windows 7 , eclipse juno 4.2 , and GWT sdk 2.5.1
During Gwt installation i left unchecked all app engine SDK options.
And also configure build path for jar files for projects i have.
but still this problem is coming .
Thanks for answering . well I tried that before but nothing happened. Then I uninstall all all. And go to HELP--->Install new Software---> in text area i used this link Google Update Site for Eclipse 4.2 - http://dl.google.com/eclipse/plugin/4.2 then whenever i checked Google Plugin for eclipse (required) and hit next it shows Cannot complete the install because one or more required items could not be found.
Software being installed: Google Plugin for Eclipse 4.2 3.2.4.v201306061638-rel-r42 (com.google.gdt.eclipse.suite.e42.feature.feature.group 3.2.4.v201306061638-rel-r42)
Missing requirement: Google Plugin for Eclipse 4.2 3.2.4.v201306061638-rel-r42 (com.google.gdt.eclipse.suite.e42.feature.feature.group 3.2.4.v201306061638-rel-r42) requires 'org.objectweb.asm 0.0.0' but it could not be found i didn't understand what and where is the problem coming .
I would double check your GWT install. Right click on a project in eclipse, and select Properties. Then under the Google option, click Web Toolkint. On the panel to the right there should be an option "Use Google Web Toolkit". Make sure that is checked. Also Click "Configure SDKs", and ensure that the selected SDKs are indeed pointing to the correct file location. Finally, Make sure that your entry points are correctly added in the "Entry Point Modules" panel.
I was facing the similar problem. I changed the proxy of my eclipse to manual and put in proxy settings for HTTP, HTTPs and port as 8080. This allowed the eclipse to connect to the network and download the required plugins. Try this out and let us know if it helps.

Software update Error & how to install Plug-ins in eclipse

I am trying to install plug-ins in my eclipse Indigo via Help-Install New Software but it showing following error window as "Cannot complete the request. This Installation had not been configured properly for software update. see the error log". please guide me how to install new plug-ins in eclipse and how to add EMC in menu bar of eclipse![image showing error while installing new software in eclipse][1]
thanks in advance.

You get the error if you are trying to update an Eclipse/RCP application running from within Eclipse (Run or Debug).
If this is the case, have a look in the launch configuration. On the "Configuration" tab, you can find a setting "Support software installation in the launched application". Check this :-)
Are you on Mac?
This bug thread on eclipse discussed a similar issue
https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=305758
It was to do with the unarchiver app on Mac.

Eclipse RCP Export Product Encounters a Problem

I have a complex Eclipse Rich Client Platform GUI with 4 Eclipse plug-ins that I developed. I'm constructing it on Eclipse 3.5.2, Build id: M20100211-1343
It works just fine when I run it from inside of Eclipse as an Eclipse Application.
When I try to export the Eclipse Product using the export wizard on the Overview panel of the product file, I get this error:
'Export Product' has encountered a problem.
C:\BOPEclipse3.5RabId\.metadata\.plugins\org.eclipse.pde.core\temp\org.eclipse.pde.container.feature\package.org.eclipse.pde.container.feature.win32.win32.x86.xml:100:
The following error occurred while executing this line:
C:\BOPEclipse3.5RabId\.metadata\.plugins\org.eclipse.pde.core\temp\org.eclipse.pde.container.feature\package.org.eclipse.pde.container.feature.win32.win32.x86.xml:345:
C:\BOPEclipse3.5RabId\.metadata\.plugins\org.eclipse.pde.core\temp\assemblyLocation\tmp\gui\plugins\org.eclipse.equinox.launcher_1.0.201.R35x_v20090715 not found.
The following error occurred while executing this line:
C:\BOPEclipse3.5RabId\.metadata\.plugins\org.eclipse.pde.core\temp\org.eclipse.pde.container.feature\package.org.eclipse.pde.container.feature.win32.win32.x86.xml:345:
C:\BOPEclipse3.5RabId\.metadata\.plugins\org.eclipse.pde.core\temp\assemblyLocation\tmp\gui\plugins\org.eclipse.equinox.launcher_1.0.201.R35x_v20090715 not found.
I looked at the directory location given in the error. The equinox launcher plug-in is there.
The version 1.0.201.R35x_v20090715 matches the version in the error message.
I have the equinox launcher plug-in, and the win32.win32.x86 platform fragment in the Dependencies list of the product file.
I have the "The product includes native launcher artifacts" check box in the Overview panel of the product file checked.
I have org.eclipse.equinox.launcher in the list of Required Plug-ins in the Dependencies panel of the GUI plug-in XML.
I added "javacDefaultEncoding.. = UTF-8" to the first line of the build.properties file of the GUI plug-in. (I found this advice on a Japanese blog.)
I have cleaned the plug-in projects multiple times.
Edited to add what I tried today:
I created a new Eclipse 3.5 instance. Didn't help.
I copied the workspace and tried to use Eclipse 3.6. Same error, different line numbers.
I created a Hello World RCP and tried to package it on Eclipse 3.5. Same error. I used a different workspace. Same error.
I created the same Hello World RCP and tried to package it on Eclipse 3.6. Same error.
End of today's edits.
I've searched eclipse.org and the Internet.
I'm hoping that one of you has encountered this problem before, and can point me to a solution. If I ever figure out how to solve this problem, I will post the answer.
I think I've found the solution.
I can package the Hello World RCP if I set the JRE System Library to Java 1.5. I get the error when I set the JRE System Library to Java 1.6.
It's going to take a couple of days to convert my real RCP application to Java 1.5. I hope this solves the problem.
I've reported this problem to the Eclipse Foundation. It's bug number 337,235.
