using wicket I want to open a new tab when a button or link is clicked, how can I achieve it?
what I have managed to do is to open it in a pop up like this:
PopupSettings popupSettings = new PopupSettings("popuppagemap").setLeft(0).setHeight(500).setWidth(500).setHeight(0);
// Popup example
final Link<Void> setPopupSettings = new BookmarkablePageLink<Void>("searchBtn", HomePage.class)
.setPopupSettings(popupSettings);
but this opens it in a new window.
no problem to open a link in a new tab: just add 'target="_blank"' to the link.
final Link<Void> link = new BookmarkablePageLink<Void>("link", HomePage.class){
#Override
protected void onComponentTag(ComponentTag tag) {
super.onComponentTag(tag);
tag.put("target", "_blank");
}
};
add(link);
If you want a button instead of a link that opens a new tab you can use:
html:
<a wicket:id="tabFormViewEmpBut"><button type="button">Click Me!</button></a>
And
Java wicket:
final Link<Void> link = new BookmarkablePageLink<Void>("tabFormViewEmpBut", HomePage.class) {
#Override
protected void onComponentTag(ComponentTag tag) {
super.onComponentTag(tag);
tag.put("target", "_blank");
}
};
add(link);
This is not a function of Wicket but of your browser and HTML in general.
simply add a target tag to your link:
My Cool Link
What actually happens when the link is clicked will depend on the browser. Before browsers had tabs, this would have opened a new window, now most browsers will open a new tab by default, however, you can't depend on that happening because the feature is optional.

I'm using GWT 2.5.1 and can't figure out why but when openining a link in a new tab results in displaying the same content in the original (where the clicks come from) tab as well. Here is a code:
private void createMyloLink(String text, String targetUrl) {
Anchor link = new Anchor(text, targetUrl);
link.addClickHandler(new ClickHandler() {
#Override
public void onClick(ClickEvent event) {
Window.open(link.getHref(), "_blank", "");
}
});
}
in Firefox and Chrome it opens the link in a new tab without problem. What is weird is that when I right-click on the link and choose 'open in a new Tab', the new tab opens and its content DOES NOT flow into the tab of origin (where I clicked on the link). On the other side, if I just click on the link, the new tabs opens but its content is also injected in the origin tab.
Any idea on how to fix the problem or to achieve the right working ? Thank you
This is the expected behaviour of your code snippet.
Anchor link = new Anchor(text, targetUrl);
If you click on this anchor , the targetUrl is opened in the current tab.
By adding the ClickHandler a new tab with targetUrl is opened.
Solution:
Create anchor with target "_blank" and remove the ClickHandler.
private void createMyloLink(String text, String targetUrl) {
Anchor link = new Anchor(text, targetUrl, "_blank");
}
I'm writing an Eclipseplugin, which has to create a new project. This works so far, but i need to copy an external file into the projectfolder. I intend to have a 'Browse' button on one of my WizardPages, which opens a filedialog, where the user can browse to the file and after closing the dialog i can use the path to this file for various actions. My problem is that the dialog window never opens. Right now i'm trying it that way (snippet from my wizardpage):
public void createControl(Composite composite) {
this.container = new Composite(composite, SWT.NONE);
GridLayout layout = new GridLayout();
this.container.setLayout(layout);
layout.numColumns = 2;
Button browseButton = new Button(this.container, SWT.PUSH);
browseButton.setText("Browse");
browseButton.addSelectionListener(new SelectionListener() {
#Override
public void widgetDefaultSelected(SelectionEvent arg0) {
FileDialog fileDialog = new FileDialog(DataPage.this.container.getShell(), SWT.OPEN);
fileDialog.setText("JZOS created File");
String path = fileDialog.open();
DataPage.this.setJzosCreatedName(path);
}
});
I tried several implementations, that i have seen in examples and tutorials but nothing did work. I'm assuming a problem with the Shell that i give to the filedialog. I tried to open a new Shell within the widgetDefaultSelected function but it didn't work either. Any Suggestions?
You should be using the widgetSelected method of SelectionListener not widgetDefaultSelected
I am working on Netbeans building a JavaFX application.
I started using ControlsFX (http://fxexperience.com/controlsfx/)
I have implemented a simple Dialog that uses custom AbstractDialogAction s as I want specific number of buttons to appear.
I do this like this:
Action a = new AbstractDialogAction(" button a ", Dialog.ActionTrait.CLOSING) {
#Override
public void execute(ActionEvent ae) {
}
};
ArrayList<Action> actions = new ArrayList<>();
actions.add(a);
actions.add(b); // other button
actions.add(c); // another button
dialog.actions(actions);
Action response = dialog.showConfirm();
Dialog is shown correctly with the given buttons.
My question is how to force the Dialog to close when a button is pressed ?
I thought setting a Dialog.ActionTrait.CLOSING would do the trick, but the Dialog stays open.
From eugener in ControlsFX mailing list
public void execute(ActionEvent ae) {
if (ae.getSource() instanceof Dialog ) {
((Dialog) ae.getSource()).setResult(this);
}
}
The above sets the result of the Dialog to be the current Action and closes the Dialog
But maybe that is a little redundant as I can simply call:
((Dialog) ae.getSource()).hide();
.hide() hides the Dialog and also sets the current action as the result.
I can't suggest which is a better solution (hide() was suggested by jewelsea)
In addition I would suggest to always override the toString() method of class AbstractDialogAction, in order to get readable result from:
Action response = dialog.showConfirm();
System.out.println("RESPONSE = "+ response.toString());
Hide the dialog to close it => dialog.hide()
I've built a GUI with a SmartGWT TabSet with Tabs that can be dynamically added and removed.
The Tabs share the same canvas which is moved from Tab to Tab at each tab selection like this:
myTabSet.addTabSelectedHandler(new TabSelectedHandler() {
public void onTabSelected(TabSelectedEvent event) {
[...]
myTabs[myTabSet.getSelectedTabNumber()].setPane(myCanvas);
// Then I fill the contained widgets with the tab-specific data
}
}
This works, but when I try to remove a Tab with
myTabSet.removeTab(iToBeDeletedTab);
The tab is removed but the remaining tabs have a blank pane, I can get the content back only by reloading the page. I found that I have to prevent pane destruction with calls to :
myTabSet.setDestroyPanes(false);
and
myTabSet.updateTab(iToBeDeletedTab, null);
//called right before
myTabSet.removeTab(iToBeDeletedTab);
I understand that the canvas/pane is still destroyed, but I cannot figure out how to prevent this.
Has anyone any hint?
Thank you!
Have you tried to call the redraw() method after removing a tab? This usually helps me when loading/reloading data with smartGWT widgets.
Your calls are correct, but now what you've got is the pane completely unnassociated from the TabSet and not drawn (check the Watch Tab in the Developer Console and you'll see this). Now, call updateTab(someOtherTab, pane) to connect the pane to one of the other tabs where it should be showing.
Ok, I've made some test and got the same as you but had some success with the following code:
1°) in the Javadoc I found:
***public void setPane(Canvas pane)
Specifies the pane associated with this tab. You can change the pane associated with a given tab after the TabSet has been created by calling TabSet.updateTab(int, com.smartgwt.client.widgets.Canvas)***
I tried without setting to null the pane of tab1 , it didn't work.
I think it could be arranged in better way but anyway the point is to use the updatePadmethod
public static void testTabDelete(){
final Canvas theCanvas = new Canvas();
final TabSet theTabs = new TabSet();
theTabs.setWidth("80%");
theTabs.setHeight("80%");
final Tab tab1 = new Tab("Tab1");
final Tab tab2 = new Tab("Tab2");
final Tab tab3 = new Tab("Tab3");
IButton btn1 = new IButton("Btn1");
btn1.setLeft(10);
btn1.setTop(100);
btn1.setWidth(80);
theCanvas.addChild(btn1);
IButton btn2 = new IButton("Delete");
btn2.setLeft(100);
btn2.setTop(100);
btn2.setWidth(80);
btn2.addClickHandler(new com.smartgwt.client.widgets.events.ClickHandler() {
#Override
public void onClick(com.smartgwt.client.widgets.events.ClickEvent event) {
theTabs.updateTab(0, null);
theTabs.updateTab(1, theCanvas);
theTabs.selectTab(tab2);
theTabs.removeTab(tab1);
}
});
theCanvas.addChild(btn2);
theTabs.addTab(tab1);
theTabs.addTab(tab2);
theTabs.addTab(tab3);
tab1.setPane(theCanvas);
RootPanel.get("container").add(theTabs);
}
I want to implement menu in GWT as shown on this website:
http://www.openkm.com/en/
I have created the menu system and I am able to display alerts from menu using following code:
Command cmd = new Command() {
public void execute() {
Window.alert("Menu item have been selected");
}
}
I want to get rid of window.alert() and display my application pages from menu.
Create and load the appropriate page. For example if you use UiBinder then:
MyPage selectedPage = new MyPage(); // creating of your panel
RootPanel.get().clear(); // cleaning of rhe RootPanel
RootPanel.get().add(selectedPage); // adding the panel to the RootPanel
First create an array list of views
public List<UIObject> viewsList = new ArrayList<UIObject>();
Add a view to that list
viewsList.add(addMovieView);
Send the view you want to select to the helper method
public void changeView(UIObject selectedView) {
for(UIObject view : viewsList) {
if(selectedView.equals(view)) {
view.setVisible(true);
} else {
view.setVisible(false);
}
}
}
Are you trying to make the entire page GWT, or just the menu? If it's just the menu, you will need to embed a GWT element into your overall HTML, then call something like
Window.open(linkURL, "_self", "");
from the appropriate menu items, which will navigate to another page.
