I already have an app on app store with version 1.0.0.
Now I submitted the new version of app 2.0.0. This new version is also approved by apple.
It has been more than 5 days since my app is approved and in state 'Ready for sale'.
Now when I download the app from app store on my iphone device it still downloads the previous version (1.0.0) and asks me to update to latest version (2.0.0).
Why app store is not downloading the latest version (2.0.0) of app directly on my device?
My device previously had the app with version 1.0.0 installed from app store but I deleted it and then installed the fresh app from app store.
When I download the same app on my friend's iphone it downloads the latest version (2.0.0). This device never had any version of the app installed.
I had the same problem and have now realised that it is related to iCloud. If you have previously downloaded your app on any device then when you download it on a new device, it will download the same version as you previously downloaded. You then get the option to update to the latest version.
Confused me to start with!
Your iPhone could be outdated / not meeting your defined requirements of the application itself. For example, if you have an iPhone 3G running IOS 6, you can not run an app that only accepts iOS7. Take a look in your xCode and inspect the properties of your application.

I have a version 1.0 on appstore.
I have just got version 1.1 approved for appstore.
When the app on version 1.0 is updated from appstore, there is a crash on the device. but when we download a fresh version of version 1.1, the app doesn't crash.
How can I test this using Xcode?
Please help.
Install your first version application to device through Xcode.
Then install your second version application to the same device through Xcode (Note: Don't delete the previous installed version from your device).
So it will not overwrite the app contends which will be available in your Library or Document Directory.
Then it will crash.. so you can get it the reason through Xcode console.
Maybe problem in your save files?
When in device with app 1.0 user will update to 1.1, then a folders Library/Caches, Library/Preferences, will stay.
When user is redownload a fresh 1.1 version, it seems this folder will be a empty.
For test him, try run 1.0 and after some operations in app, try to update to 1.1 over 1.0. If crash in app, XCode must catch him
I'm using xCode 3.2.3 with 4.0 iOS SDK, but my iTouch has iOS 4.2 installed.
I could deploy and run Release version app on my iTouch, but when I try to debug app on device, the app is always running with nothing but black screen, without any response.
The problem is:
How to debug iOS app build with 4.0 SDK on device installed iOS 4.2?
If you go to Xcode's organizer you'll see that your device is actually not allowed to run the debug mode (with a development provision file), since your SDK version is lower than your device's OS. Apple just doesn't allow that to happen.
I assume that you want to keep your old SDK is because you want to check the compatibility with older OS. I would suggest you upgrade your Xcode and its SDK to the latest version (3.2.5/4.2.1) while testing your app on old and new OS devices.
Try installing the latest iOS SDK to another folder (mine is at /DeveloperBeta). That way you could continue developing and debugging using the new SDK, while still having the old SDK around to build for app submission.
I've older version of iphone SDK OS 3.1.3 and I created an app using that.
I prepared the app and ready for uploading to app store.
In app store, I created new application and provided all the necessary details. Its now showing "Waiting for upload". As my Mac don't have iPhone SDK OS 3.2 and above, apple's "Application Loader" is not installing.
So, I took my friends help and using his Mac which has latest iOS SDK 4.1 and also "Applicaton Loader" is installed on it. Now I copied the app's zip file to my friend's mac, logged into itunes connect account, started application loader. It says that "No eligible applications were found".
How should I upload my app now?
I can't build my app using latest SDk because, I'm using twitter and facebook libraries which are based on iOS 3.1.3, if i've to download them taht are compatible to iOS 4.1, i've to do all the testing again which can mess my code.
Someone please suggest how to upload my app?
Going to ask a few noddy questions, but they're always worth asking:
Have you created the new version of your application in Connect? That error normally means that the app loader can't find any application in iTunes connect that is expecting a binary upload.
Are you sure the application builder isn't using his developer account?
You're also going to hate this advice, but take the plunge and upgrade to 4.1. Yes you'll need to test your applications again, but that's a good thing. In my opinion it's easier to target 4.1 (which represents all future devices and a large portion of installed devices) and ensure it works for older operating systems than it is to fix on an obsolete OS and hope it still works for the latest and greatest.
As the the Question asks,
I currently sport xcode 3.2.3 with iOS 4.0.1 but I want to test on my iPhone which is stuck on 4.0.2
Thus I cannot do so until the SDK for 4.0.2 is accessible from xcode.
Where can I download a patch update from 4.0.1 to 4.0.2 because the iPhone members page seems to only link me to the package including xcode 3.2.3 with iOS4.0.2 SDK
I don't want to download the whole thing because it's > 2.5 gigs and my New Zealand internet Connection is shizenhouzen.
I can't restore to a previous version, because for some reason I only have a previous back up of the iPhone on my now defunct windows PC.
I'm afraid you have to download the entire SDK - Apple do not provide 'patches' (4.0.1 to 4.02, for example) AFAIK, and I'd be nervous about downloading anything that claims it is a patch.
It's a common grumble, twitter is a fun place when apple push these .1 SDK updates out :)
You do have to download the whole thing to upgrade. It really sucks. :-(
I wish I could remember to download the SDK before upgrading my devices.
You can still build adhoc releases of your app and install them using itunes if you're in a real bind - it's just the debugger, console viewing and automatic installation of builds that won't work at all.
I've built an iPhone app which is live in the app-store. When originally submitting the app it showed up in App Store as requiring iPhone OS 3.1.3. When later updating the app I made sure my settings in Xcode for the target for the app store build had the Base SDK version set to 3.1.3 and the Deployment Target version set to 3.0, however it still shows up in app store as requiring 3.1.3.
From what I've understood the Deployment Target version is the one setting the requirement in app store?
Or is there any information concerning this that I should have updated in iTunes Connect when submitting the updated app?
Thanks, Michael
Check the MinimumOSVersion key in your info.plist
You can set base SDK for your application from edit Project settings
