I want to execute Drools rules via REST or SOAP.
I'm already using Drools Guvnor as facts, rules designer/repository. And it works just fine, but I haven't found any clear guidance on how to deploy these rules for execution.
I would be grateful if anyone points to tutorial.
Is it achievable without Eclipse?
If you're looking to execute Drools rules via REST or SOAP, look into Drools Server.
http://www.plugtree.com/drools-server-overview/
In this setup, your rules are actually executed on the remote server.
If you just want to use the built rule package from Guvnor in a standalone Java application, there is plenty of information in the Guvnor documentation that will show you how to use the URL where guvnor exposes your compiled package. See Chapter 9 for Knowledge Agent configuration.

I have wso2 micro-integrator project implemented in hand, where the project has few hard-coded values & conditions in the business logic, so i want to make them as separate and implement those as rules using Drools(BRMS).
Then, how i could apply the Drools created rules on wso2 micro-integrated carbon applications.
Thanks for the help in advance,
I am new to Distributed Tracing / Hawkular. And would like to experiment tracing for my distributed cxf rest services using hawkular.
Will it be possible to trace cxf servcies using hawkular and if any one has doc or reference sample app, that will be great.
Also, is there any other tracing tool which can solve this requirement(tracing java cxf rest services). Zipkin-brave has a feature for this which I am looking at also.
I'd recommend instrumenting your application using the OpenTracing API, and later choose a concrete implementation. Under the Hawkular project, there's the Hawkular APM module which provides a solution for capturing, visualizing and making sense of the data. However, we (Hawkular APM) recently decided to join the Jaeger project, to have a better support for the OpenTracing case. We expect to have similar features from Hawkular APM ported to Jaeger "soon".
For OpenTracing, there are quite a few "framework integrations" under the OpenTracing Contrib organization, including JAX-RS, which might serve as base or reference for a CXF-specific implementation. If nothing suits you, I'm certain we'd welcome a contribution.
If you are just looking to learn OpenTracing, I'd suggest taking a look at the Hawkular APM's example directory, including a vertx-opentracing example.
I am new to Drools so my question could be obvious but I cannot find an answer.
I defined Data Model and Rule, built and deployed to my Drools server. Is any way to test it using Drools Workbench or I need to implement java client application or manually simulated call from web client like Postmen or SoapUI to Drools server? Thank you!
I figured out that I cannot test my rule from Drools Workbench and need to use either web client or application.
I am very new to JBPM and KieWorkbench ,infact from .net background.
I've installed JBPM 6 on my machine and have developed some guided rules and workflows using KieWorkbench.
On local I can easily create, run and Test workflows and Rules, because as I do ant start.demo all setup is done.
Moving forward now I've to deploy this on production environment and share the source code with team members.
Limitation is I cannot use Git.
Now I've 2 questions :-
1.How to deploy this on production?
2.How can I share code/project with my teammates.
Any help will be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
There was a similar question about using KIE Workbench in production environment. Look at my answer here. If you do not need GUI, I would recommend to use KIE Server for process execution. Unfortunately, it is not described in jBPM documentation but you can find it in the Drools one.
When it comes to sharing projects created in KIE Workbench, you can do one of these two things:
Clone a Git repository from KIE Workbench. It should be available on address git://localhost:9418/repository_name.
Deploy a project in KIE Workbench and find the artifact with your process and rule definitions in your ~/.m2/repository.
It may also be a good idea to have your development version of KIE Workbench deployed somewhere where others can access it and see your process definitions directly in this application.
Is it possible that the drools workbench provide REST/SOAP API for .NET/python applications to execute rules.
thanks,
Kalin
There is a REST API, but it would be of no use to you. The rules don't get executed in Workbench. It's really just a repository for them. The REST API would let you download the rules, but you wouldn't be able to execute them in a .NET application.
Instead you would need to run up a rules service of your own. You could create a minimal Java web application, with REST/SOAP operations.
However, there is also the Drools Camel Server, which can be configured to load rules from your Workbench and expose them through a REST API. See the docs here:
